I've had my N2 for a few weeks now. Suddenly, it has taken much, much longer to charge the phone. I calibrated the battery, drained it to 0 and plugged it in. 3 hours later it's still at 50% (and the phone is charging while off. Any suggestions?
Are you using the stock wall charger and cable that came in the box?
The reason the battery is taking so long to charge is because you ran it down to 0. If you want your batter to last longer it's best to use the 80 / 20. What I'm saying is use the phone down to 20% and recharge back to 100%.

May be a faulty battery. Contact Samsung (I'm assuming that by n2 you mean note 2) and they'll probably send you a new battery.
Sent from a galaxy far far away.
I only had one issue, yesterday, and it was that my phone showed 25 percent charge on stock white Samsung charger/cable and I knew it had been on the charger longer than that. I rebooted and it showed 74%. Not sure what the hell this was about.
Old rules by what standard? Anytime using lithium type of battry is best not to run it down to 0%. I guess you don't have much experence with them besides your phone. I use them everday for my hobby. Sure you can run them down to 0% if you like replacing them quicker.

Huh? Its a lithium battery...those old rules dont apply. A little quick google on lithium batteries will explain this.
More than likely slow charges are due to a slow charge plug/cable...many prior posts on the charger.

Old rules were for NiCad tyoe batteries, where you did want to run them down to 100% and had to deal with other issues. If you do end up doing that Google search you will find the advice given is pretty accurate. Staying out of the high and low ends for long periods will give you many more cycles.

i went to service centre those assh**** have no idea and said that note 2 is a bigger phone so it will take 6 hrs to fully charge.

I know this would be obvious, but I figured I will ask anyway. Are you still running the stock kernel, or are you possibly running one without the capability to accept the 2.1A charging?

I have noiced on a custom room it always taking longer to charge. I always charge with phone off.in doing this , I usually can get longer life out of the battery as well.

You would know if you were running a different kernel. You would have had to install it yourself. If you are All stock (ROM, AC adapter, cable) then you have something defective.
Here is my screenon time with everything running all the time on cleanROM with 6400 mah battery.
-- Note II, TapaTalk II--
Batteries will last thousands of cycles charging to 100% from 50, but maybe 300 cycles charging from 0 to 100. Don't run your battery down so much. Charge it when you're not using it.
Note2 battery drain problem
I too facing battery drain problem in my samsung galaxy note2 from last 1 week after installing lattest software update.
Previously my note2 was charged quickly in within 2 hours. After software upgrade, which came as push message, my battery takes almost 5-6 hours to charge from wall plugin source.
Can any body help me in restoring previous version of software??
I've been using a Galaxy Note II since early February, and battery power has been absolutely amazing. However, the past several days, I've been experiencing extreme battery drainage. I didn't notice until this morning how severe it really was. I woke up for school at 7:15a.m. and it was 100% charged, but by the time I got in class at 8:15, it was already at 50%. Yes, I was using my phone on the way to school, but I only used Twitter for maybe twenty minutes, then turned off the screen. I don't have any heavy apps downloaded, and from what I can see, there are no rouge apps either. While I was charging when I got home (the battery was at 23% after desperately trying to save it all day) I noticed that the battery was actually draining instead of charging.
I've rebooted and tried using my sister's charger with no results. I set my screen brightness as low as possible, turned on power saving mode, and made sure that it says I'm charging under AC instead of USB. While charging my phone, my battery level at the beginning of this post was 68% and is now 63%.
What can possibly be wrong with my phone so out of the blue? Is it just a problem with the battery, or is there something I can do or at least try? Thank you for the feedback!
edit:
my phone is not rooted
Try to see the battery usage in the settings maybe some app is causing that, also make sure your phone is going into deep sleep. Thats all I can say, I have to admit is draining very fast

Hi Guys,
I have this peculiar problem with galaxy grand. Just bought a new handset and first two days the battery lasted for entire day.
And then it's like discharging in about 4-5 hrs only. I turn off 3g when not required.
The biggest problem is charging the phone. The bundled charger is 1A charger. Logically charging a 2100mah battery should take 2hrs but this one takes 4-5hrs. I ordered a 2A charger from ebay but when i plug it in, battery spy program displays alert in red saying "battery is high" not sure what it means, but I believe it's not able to handle the increased current.
My friend who uses samsung note uses a blackberry charger and charges it in 2hrs flat. Then why is galaxy grand taking a hell of time?
Thanks for the help in advance

Because of phone improper settings. These can happen. Pls don't use task manager. It will eat more battery. Android already have inbuilt task killer to kill applications. If you have few bucks try to buy auto killer memory optimizer it tweaks android internal setting's and make your phone lag free.. Most of the time I playing HD games while charging.. My phone temp max goes upto 40°C.

Hello,
I bought a gently used N900T a few days ago. The device is awesome and works perfectly, except for one thing. Charging the phone with the Samsung charging cable+ac adapter takes longer than forever. It charges at a rate of approximately 8-9% per hour.
A few notes:
Device on, device off, it doesn't matter. It charges at the same slow rate.
The battery itself, once it charges, holds that charge very well.
The slow charging happened both when I was on the stock rom and on my current Slim Rom.
I have ordered a new charger and a new battery. If the slow charging persists with these new accessories, am I doomed? Is the slow charging a known issue for the Note 3? Besides the new equipment, does anyone have any advice on how to solve this?
Thanks so much!

You gonna have to do testing or replace phone. Me I would change kernel just cause it takes 2 seconds. Let it ride a day if no change then a factory refresh. You have checked that no app is killing phone as fast as it charges right?

Edit. I was just on his thread and a few guys having issues with either bad batter. UV/ oc .try a different ROM and kernel. Fresh install meaning Odin back to stock and start all over. Sorry good luck
As weird as this sounds, I tried the charger in a different outlet in my home and it works a lot better. The battery charges quite fast from any level to about 96%, then starts crawling again to 97, 98 and stops at 98. I opened battery calibration, which shows the battery at 96% and 4337mv, which is the same mv level as 100% normally if memory serves me correctly. So I'm thinking the battery is "full", but for some reason won't go to 100% without a fight. Perhaps if I clear my cache+dalvik cache? Any other suggestions?

two senarios:
1. take out the battery, plug it into the wall charger and try to turn it on.
2. leave battery in, plug into wall charger, then take battery out. does the phone remain on?
this feature is useful for example if you want to use your device everyday constantly with screen at full brightness. Now you won't waste away the battery lifespan, but obviously you lose mobility.

In a few years when it is harder and harder to find good new replacement batteries on ebay, I'd want to keep my device plugged into an adapter and use as a mini computer for whatever purpose I can fathom. I think keeping a battery inside while the phone is plugged into the charger all day and leaving the screen on for many consecutive hours (like when you are cleaning the house but want vids playing in the background on your Note2) can be bad for whatever life is remaining on the battery. It's even worse if the battery stays at 100%. Managing when to unplug the charger all day would be annoying.
I wish method 1 would work (turning on phone without a battery while plugged in charger). Even if method 2 works, many manuals warn that taking out the battery while device is plugged in can damage the device. Hmm

You can't run it without the battery because the charger circuit runs through the battery unlike other phones. If you pull it out while the battery is in it might stay on a few seconds as the electricity discharges but that's about it. You could short circuit the battery circuit to get it to run by using charger but that would probably destroy the motherboard.
I succeeded running it on power supply
