Hi. My sd card is not working anymore on my HTC Desire HD. I had phone connected with PC to add files in SD card, then I did not use "Safely remove hardware" and unplugged my phone from PC. After that SD card stopped to work, when i click on "Mount SD card", it says "Sd card safe to remove". Then I tried to connect it to PC with SD card reader, when PC finds all files, to get SD card ready to use, it just crashes or something happens, when I try to open it again it says "Please insert a disk into drive...".
Anyone has got any suggestions, what could I do? I havent tried to format it yet, still hoping to get my files back.
Thanks

Google for mini Tool Partition wizard, Freeware, for Windows, there you can Format and Partition it very easy.

Okay so last night, I was just multitasking on my phone and all of a sudden, I get that dreaded microSD icon on my notifications bar. It says, "SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." I have gotten this in the past and usually a soft reset fixes it (with the oem sd card). I did that, and it was still there.
I tried to connect it to my computer to transfer everything saved, but the sd card won't even mount, so my computer doesn't even see anything on the card! I even tried putting the card in the external USB card reader that came with the card and I can't access it.
I tried using Root Explorer, Settings, and Astro to access the microSd card and it won't let me since it is not mounted.
I am using CM7 RC4 with Lexar 32gb Class 10 card.
Any ideas? I really don't want to lose all my stuff on my SD card, but if I guess if there isn't any fixes, I don't really have a choice.
Try unmount the card place in a like SD adpater and plug in the computer See if it reads it.

Well it seems the card is already unmounted permanently at the moment. When I try to put it in the card reader, my PC won't even read the stuff on it. I mean it will show that a external device is connected but when I click on it, it just does nothing.
This happened to me and it scared the hell out of me. All I did was reboot and it was fixed.

Rooted, Stock, SanDisk 32GB Class 4...
This morning I got a notification that it was safe to remove my SD Card. I thought that was random and funny so I went into Solid Explorer to see and it said that my SD Card was empty. I checked in the Storage option in the Settings menu, and it didn't pick up the card. It only said "Mount SD Card, Insert SD Card." I removed and inserted the card a few times with no luck. After restarting, the phone told me the SD Card was Blank. I clicked on that notification and it prompted me to format the card. I tried to format it but it didn't work. I just kept telling me the card was blank and I'd need to reformat it. Finally, after plugging the phone into my computer, it's not even recognized as a card on the phone. Can someone help me please? Is this a hardware issue? Did the card reader on my S3 just crap out or is it something I can fix with some software fix?
Thanks in advance.

I could be the card that has failed. Do you have a card reader that you can use to mount the card on a PC (without the phone)? Do you have another card to try in the phone. It is one or the other that has failed but you will have to try out the combinations to see which has failed. I have seen cheap cards fail and become unrecognizable. I think that is more likely than the phone card slot failing.

Thanks for the reply. I'm starting to suspect/hope it's something wrong with the card itself as opposed to the slot. Unfortunately I don't have my old card or another reader around to test (I'm stuck at work). I may try to skip out to buy a new card and see if that does the trick.
I am getting an error when my phone tries to scan my external sd card. It says "preparing SD Card" for a second or two, but then it says "Blank SD Card". I looked this problem up on other threads, however, I dont think it would be necessary for me to format it. This is because one out of every 20 or so times it scans the SD card it actually picks it up and gives me the details about the card (space, etc.). But it then says "removed SD card". I am confused if this is a problem with the SD card itself, or if it is a problem with my phone's SD card slot. Any help would be appreciated because almost all of my info is on the card (contacts, documents, school stuff) Thanks in advance!!

Do you have another reader for the card? If so, pull the data, format through Windows and then put the data back on. (When I had issues it was something about permissions last time...)

I tried to do that and it wont work because on my comp it says that it did not recognize my phone. I reinstalled the drivers and it still wouldnt work. It somehow read the sd card right now (the phone did), so im trying to do some data backup and such if the problem persists, which im sure it will
He meant an external card reader. You would take the card out of the phone. Do that copy it all over to desktop. Format the card. Put the stuff back

If you're having MicroSD card issues and USB port issues I wonder if you've got other things going on.
How long has the phone not been recognized on the PC?
And did you try cleaning the MicroUSB port? It may still charge but not contact the data connectors.
So i have a sandisk 32gb micro sd card im using in my galaxy s3. It has been working fine until this morning when my phone started saying sd card had been removed please enter a new one, or something like that. The sd card cannot be seen in TWRP or in any file manager. In recovery i tried to wipe the external card and it just says it cant mount the external card.
I would have thought this was a problem with my phone, but I also cannot see the card when i put it in my computer. Other sd cards work fine on my computer (i dont have another micro sd to test with) but my camera's sd card worked fine. Anyone have a solution? I would be willing to format my sd card, but i cant even access it anywhere.

I hate to say it, but it would seem that your SD card went tango uniform. If another card is being seen in the S III then it is down to that.

In Win7, plug your SDcard into the card reader.
Type diskmgmt.msc into search or run.
Do you see your messed up SDcard in there?
If yes, you can format it, name it etc.
If that fails, find an app online called Gparted. (needs to burn to a CD)
This app works at boot and has fixed my most stubborn drive issues.
I'm not sure if this is related to the 4.3 bug or not but I have the tmobile galaxy s4 and I can no longer modify anything on my external sd card. Everything still reads fine but it seems alot slower than before.
I tried using es file manager to delete/write , but it dosen't work. It will say deleted successfully but when i refresh, it reappears. When i try to create a new file it says "sorry, operation failed"
I also checked the permissions file and it says it has r/w access for external storage.
Is my card just dying or corrupted or what? How can I fix this?
I just want to be able to use it again.
I also tried formatting. When i do it on the phone it just freezes. When I do it on the pc, it says write protected.
I tried gparted as well but it hangs during detection.
This is the default micro sd card that came with the phone...

Remove your external microSD and plug it into a card reader and or the adapter which came
with the card then plug it into your computer.
Make an empty folder on desktop of computer and copy all files and folders from the microsd
card into the empty folder.
Format your external microsd using this windows utility and copy all the files/folders back onto
the card from your computer and replace it into your phone.
Here is the direct download link for this fat32 formatter which is a windows utility:
http://download.cnet.com/MiniAide-F...815.html?spi=e1b6eca6ba2a9bfc9c74ffba47b88ad1
By doing the above your external microSD card should work find again.
Good luck!
