Rooted, yet unable to.... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm now rooted using CF method, no custom recovery though. I want to remain stock. But, one of the primary reasons I went ahead and rooted is so that I can get rid of the 2 horrible power on & off sound files. Is it just me or do you also find those completely obnoxious and loud??
Anyhow, here's the problem:
I've located the 2 files (poweron.ogg and poweroff.ogg). I don't want to delete them, I just want to rename them so they are in essence "hidden" and can't be called, therefore keeping my sanity everytime I shutdown or startup. But when I try to rename (I've now tried ES file explorer and Astro - both to no avail) the files, I get a permission denied or some other message saying the file is write-protected and I'm unable to rename or delete.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You need to make the folder r/w (read/write) instead of r/o (read only). You should have that option in all root explorer software.

Install es file explorer, press the menu button and then root explorer. Then from there go to mount read/write and change the system checkbox to r/w. Now you should be able to mod the files.

ADB to update /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf ?

i have a 2.2 rooted ROM and i need to edit the /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf file to enable A2DP autoreconnect option.
Ive tried Root Explorer and ADB shell, but allow me to mount the fs as r/w and copy the edited file in, but when ive reboot the file is back to the original time/date and contents.
I also tried editing the file in Root explorer and it does the same.
what am i doing wrong here ?
I've used the Root Explorer to edit config files.....try opening it as a text editor through the root explorer. Edit the file and save it..it should automatically make a back up of the audio.conf file in addition to saving changes to the original file...
EDIT: Oops, it seems like you have already attempted to write changes using the text editor...I'm assuming that you've mounted the file system as r/w within Root Explorer before editing?...
You are not s-off. Either s-off or do it with adb while in recovery.

Remove preinstalled apps ->cm7

How would I go about deleting some of the preinstalled apps in cm7? I read to download titanium backup and do it with that. When I did it using that app, nothing was uninstalled even though it said it was.
There are a few ways. You can do it through a paid app called System App Remover, adb or you can delete the apk's from the zip archive before you flash it. I do a combo between the first and third way. Just to point out, you need to be s-off to do out through the app.

I just delete .apk files from /system using root explorer.
S-off needed for this method.

I have S-off but in my file explorer when I go to syste/app and try to delete those apk files it says that it can't. The titanium uninstall which I did after getting S-OFF, done by some recovery exploit also does not work.

Enabled root explorer option in your explorer? Which explorer do you use?

And have you got /system mounted r/w, not r/o?
use the latest "root explorer" from the market and make sure superuser allows it
when u open root explorer press the "mount r/w" button at the top to have write access

Although root explorer is well enough to pay money for it, there is a good free alternative called "file explorer". But you have to mount as r/w, too.

Thank you all. If it wasn't for you all I'd be following instructions and not know to mount r/w.
You can use Root_uninstaller_pro_v1.13.apk and uninstall the system application you don't use. I use this app and have no problem.

Direct in the programm you use. To name two examples:
1.) In root explorer you have an extra single button at the top
2.) In file explorer: menu>more>settings>file explorer settings>check root explorer option (and enter superuser request). Go back to root of your sd card. Now menu>more>mount>mount as read write. File explorer should show "access".

Synergy - /system/fonts mounted as r/o

OK, i have an Evo running Synergy RLS1 + GODMODE and the system is set as R/O. I need to gain access to /system/fonts anbd set to r/w. I have tried to use Root Explorer to no avail. I would like to permanently set /system/* to r/w and r/o at will. How would I go about doing that. I have tried using .ZIP files for Mount/Unmount system and tat still wouldn't let me change permissions to anything under /system. HELP.
Andrew
I don't know that you can "permanently" set it to R/W but if you use Root explorer, go into /system/fonts and click "Mount R/W" at the top that should give you the read/write access you need.
I tried that in Root Explorer and it never sets it to r/w.

Are the fonts named correctly? Are you rebooting afterwards?
There's a thread with a ton of flashable font zips, you can try that. Or if you can't find a flashable zip of the font you want, there's directions for making your own in the thread I mentioned. I'll see if I can find it & link you to it.
Edit: Found the thread, but looks like Matty beat me to it. Also remember that when rebooting you need to do a full reboot. If you have fastboot enabled, powering off & back on might not be enough, you'll either need to choose reboot from the long-press power options or from an app, or pull the battery.

How can I delete Morphology Folder?

I flashed moar and loved it but decided to give slimbean a try and now there's a folder in my internal memory that cannot be deleted.
I tried loading it onto a PC and deleting it. I've tried using a root explorer (ROM toolbox) and I've tried es file explorer. Anyone know how I can get rid of it?
Try using different file explorers, such as ones that require root maybe. Also try androzip qnd mount by tapping r/o and it should change to w/o and then try.
That's my best answer

Also. Twrp 2.5.0.0 had a file manager you can use. I confirmed that I can delete from it. Might be worth a shot, since it'll be done in recovery mode, when there's no way that the system would be using it.

Flash this in recovery and delete from it then do Menu > Exit, and reboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Make sure you mount system before flashing it though, or tell the file manager to mount all blocks on start
Love you guys. I didn't know Twrp had a file explorer. That worked like a charm.
Thanks!

edit:
well, I have moved app by Es Explorer in app system folder.. Now If I want install it, will see installation......app is not installed....
edit2: I have restart my phone, my apk AXT9IME is in system/app folder, whan my phone start, tell me: samsung keyboard can´t work
System change read only. How do it
some idea?
For Stock Rom you need rooted phone.
There are many apps, you can use e.g. "Root Explorer" from Play Store.
I think there is a free version available.
Procedure for Root Explorer:
1. copy wished .apk to Storage on phone.
2. start Root Explorer
3. go to .apk you want to copy in system/app
4. select it and copy
5. go to system/app
6. in upper bar in the middle you can see mount status. (-ro)
7. change it to -rw by clicking on it and select item -rw
8. Superuser app flushes: grant access
9. Paste .apk in system/app
10. Restart your phone and have fun.
Feel free to ask if further problems occurs.

EDIT: im pretty sure root explorer asks for root access on first startup

Yes! Is true, not compatible, I have folowed guide from teddytsen, all right, but after reboot after my phone freeze and tell me AxT9IME.apk (samsung keyboard) can´t work and stop!
I tested deodex .apk too and same problem always. And if I use Uninstaller Master and see in System apps, there is way to AxT9IME.apk normal- /system/app/AxT9IME.apk, but there is write "2.3.6"!
I want just same as I writed in my first message in atachement. But I don´t know if exist any compatible apk with my Stock or Custom ROM (I have problem with this in both).
In 4.1.2 JB is poor 3x4 grey keyboard... Don´t want it, maybe better downgrade
