[BOOTLOADER][RADIO][JWR66V] Android 4.3 Bootloader & Radio - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello guys,
For the people who want to upgrade to a 4.3 ROM, here are the .IMG's for the bootloader and the radio:
https://copy.com/P38cQlhIXhexRcNM (Radio XXLJ1, still the same, you don't have to flash this one, unless you have a previous radio.)
https://copy.com/GImD8tF7NVQG6brL (Bootloader PRIMEMD04)
EDIT: It's not necessary to update your Bootloader and Radio, some say that these will cause problems, and you can run 4.3 ROMs without the newest radio and bootloader. What I recommend is not to flash these, and if you encounter any problems (reboots, heavy lag) try and flash the newest bootloader.
WARNING: You cannot flash these files in your recovery. Use an app or program for this like Nexus Root Toolkit!

Do I need to do this before flashing a 4.3 ROM? I did just try a custom cm10.2 (cookieman) and it worked... Back on 4.2 now though. Do most Roms include these in their zips?
P.s. where is this nexus root toolkit?

It is highly recommended to flash these before upgrading to 4.3 to avoid any unexpected hiccups.

Yes it's still XXLJ1. And it's indeed recommended to flash these before flashing a 4.3 ROM.

Flash with CWM just to be safe!
Sent from the inner sanctum of my mind.

i just downloaded rom manager from the playstore installed CWM, installed the bootloader.
Went back to goo manager and installed TWRP again , finished
took me 5 minutes

If i want to go back to 4.2 rom, do i need to revert to previous radio and bootloader?
Thank you.

OP is incorrect, you don't need the bootloader to upgrade to 4.3. It runs perfectly fine on the previous bootloader.
Also, I highly recommend not flashing bootloader in CWM or TWRP. That's how bricks happen.

Not a single brick reported on the CWM package so far... Problems are use case scenario specific in general, not universal to a product or a concept as a whole. That would account for a major bug!

How does OTA updates flash bootloaders? Recovery.
Beamed from my Grouper

What if I flash the bootloader and radios while still on a 4.2.2 ROM? My ROM hasn't been updated, and I'd rather wait till it is...

That's what I did. Flashed 4.3 bootloader when on 4.2.2, rebooted and then flashed 4.3 ROM.

If you flash a radio/boot loader w/o md5 verification (which you can do with an app on your tab/phone is just user error.

Will the radios work with Verizon gnex? Or is it for the other gnex? (Toro) I'm guessing the bootloader is fine...

You can't update without root until you get it OTA, but you can flash the full ROM. See the "flash" link in my signature.

Well is your GN yakju or takju?
If its either then hitting system update will prompt you the OTA.
You can also try the clearing Google Service Framework and hitting the System Update.

well you're not rooting... so technically, you never have to have root to update to JB.

Yeah, to flash the full images, you don't need root, but you need an unlocked bootloader.
But I was talking about updating, not re-flashing a ROM: if you want to "update" your existing build to JB, you either need to get it OTA, or download it and move it to /cache (root required), or apply it via CWM (either root or an unlocked bootloader required).

technically it depends what version of GN is he using...shouldn't be a problem if he's on yakju or takju...

Well for one is it American or European? GSM or CDMA? Buy it off the Play Store?
If it's CDMA you would have to unlock and use custom recovery to install 4.1, but it would be very simple to do and there are completely stock 4.1 builds that work flawlessly.

Do I need to update bootloader on a stock phone?

I'm gonna root and install a custom ROM on my friend's phone and I'm just wondering if I need to update the bootloader before installing any ROMs?
So should I root, then flash the bootloader update via Odin before installing a ROM?
Or can anyone give me a good process for doing that, it would really help

I'm sure that it depends on what version bootloader is currently installed, and what version your ROM of choice requires. The fact that their phone is now "Stock" doesn't tell you anything. I am running a nightly version (7/7/13) of Rootbox (Doesn't get any newer than that) on a one year old S3, and have never updated my "Stock" bootloader because it was not necessary for what I need - and there isn't one newer.
Every time you flash, you are taking the chance of something screwing up. The only thing worse than bricking your phone would be bricking someone else's. IMO, you need to do some more research to answer your own question. The devil is in the details.
Good Luck.

I would suggest going into the Galaxy Nexus forums and looking for your stock recovery.
There will be folks there with the same device and issues you are having that can more specifically help you with that.
You are in the Verizon HTC One forums.
We don't have a 4.3 OTA yet and no files from our device will help you.
Surely there are lots of folks willing and able to help in the proper device forum though.
Good luck!

Stock Rooted rom?

hi, I just recently aquired the Nexus 7 2013 model, and I am currently not rooted. I want to root but I dont want to run CM or all the other custom roms. I just want a stock rooted rom.
Is there a stock rooted 4.4.2 rom for this device?
That is all, thanks!
There is one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563017
You will need a custom recovery in order to flash it!
Or you can just flash the SuperSU zip in recovery and it'll be rooted

I'm curious. I've never used a device with a locked bootloader. Since this tablet is about to get the 4.4.3 update, will unlocking the bootloader affect the update? Will I still receive the update.
I'm planning on unlocking the bootloader but not flashing the rootzip yet until I get the update.

Yes, you will still receive the OTA. Having an unlocked bootloader has no effect on updating via OTA.
You could just root and then re-lock the bootloader

Only recovery needs to be stock to relock the bootloader, you can unlock, root and then relock - then you have rooted stock ROM and a locked bootloader without having to flash a custom recovery or ROM.

fair enough, I stand corrected! Didn't know you could re-lock a rooted device.
So could you flash OmniROM, flash stock recovery and re-lock?
