Used Freegee and Twrp, with stock , and not software update, and I would like to know if there is a special way for android backups??? Whe I made my Backup I used boot, system and data checked and did not check recovery or cache. Am I ok ??? Should I also check recovery, due to Loki??? When I need to do a restore is there a particular method of doing the restore due to the Loki method??
Thanks for any info guys...
You should be fine if you only choose those three options. If you want to be super safe I would check the other two also. As for restoring just tap restore and your back-up. There isn't a special process for backing up and restoring.

Hey guys, I recently flashed CM 10.1 without backuping up anything, so I lost my IMEI/EFS, so basicaly I wasn't able to connect to my carrier. I did everything to get my phone back to normal but nothing worked so I had to give me phone to repair (This was the second time). But today I got it back and I want my phone to be free and I want to put CM 10.1 on my device again, but before I do anything I want to backup my device so I wouldn't have to wait 1 month for my phone to get repaired.
I searched the XDA-Dev website for backing up the EFS folder couldn't find any post on the topic. I just did a backup using this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997).
What are the things I can do (I will do a nandroid backup after I root and install CWM).
And would I be able to backup using this guide from the video? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBQIoyQtEg)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747M (BELL)

A nandroid backup is always a good idea. Also in the stickied threads: [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI & Data Restore Tool v3.0 - Updated 11/01/2012!!!
That's pretty much all you need. Just be careful with what you flash and make sure to follow full OP instructions.

There is a misconception out there that NANDROID will backup you IMEI... it won't... best to back it up with tools that BWolf talked about...
If you don't back it up don't panic... your IMEI is written below battery...
Also what bailed me out twice so far was "factory reset" from TWRP. This forces google "welcome wizzard"... got my IMEI back twice using this method...
Once IMEI is back just restore your stuff either via Ti Backup or you can do most recent nandroid DATA ONLY restore and you're good to go...
Hope this helps
Tonight after my phone went dead, CyanogenMod would not boot at all for me. Luckily I had a nandroid of the version I was running and was able to fix the problem without losing any recent data.
The prerequisites for this tutorial are a recent nandroid made in TWRP and TWRP on your phone.
Warning: Before continuing be aware I am not liable for any loss or damage occuring from following my tutorial.
Now that that's out of the way,
1. Boot into TWRP, I don't believe CWM will work but, I can't confirm. If you can't get into android to reboot recovery, you'll want to hold down home+lock/power+volume up.
2. If you have booted into recovery, the hard part is out of the way. The next thing you'll want to do is enter the restore menu and select your latest back-up.
3. This is the important part if you do not want to lose any data. Make sure that ONLY System is selected. If you don't do this and continue, there's nothing I can do to recover your data so don't ask.
Comment and thank if this helped you.

I do not have the update by Verizon, but I have the new kernel and Twrp. I have read about questions with Backup and restore with Twrp. I have two backups, one with only the three items checked: boot, system and data and the other with all five checked. I have not run a Restore yet because I have read about issues leading the owners to go back to stock and then root again and regain all their data back. Am I correct in reading that If I do a Restore that I should uncheck Boot, Data and Cache and just leave System checked. Why... anyone else have this issue?
I really don't want to soft brick my phone...
Thanks
PS I am not running Cyanogen Mod and would that make a difference??
You could try just restoring system first and if that doesn't work restoring all of them. If your phone is running ok right now there wouldn't be a reason to do this though.

Does anyone know of a working LOKI TOUCH Recovery, either CWM or TWRP, which is compatible with the LG Optimus G Pro, hosting software version E98010k? I have tried both recoveries included in the latest version of Freegee (1.24) and, while CWM is a functional recovery with my software version using the vol +/- keys and Power key, it is extremely difficult to use due to default screen sizes and lack of touch. TWRP opens but touch function only works on upper half of display and the recovery occassionally freezes requiring the battery be removed to reboot.
I would appreciate any input from those who have a working LOKI TOUCH RECOVERY on a stock ATT Value Pack ROM (Software Version E98010k ONLY). Please advise the recovery you are using, the source of the flashable zip and any special requirements to flash. Since Freegee CWM 6.0.3.7 is functional (however difficult to use), I would prefer to use that to flash a new recovery, but am open to other options.
Freegee functioned perfectly to bypass the locked bootloader on my phone and install both recoveries included in the package. However, they both have shortcomings as workable, long term recoveries on my software version and hardware.
Thanks for your input...

Is there any updated Loki version of CWM for the E980?
I mean, CWM is up to 6.0.4.4 now and TWRP is also updated.
Sorry for the confusion. I see you are using a Samsung G3 and a rooted and unlocked G3 works pretty well with most releases of CWM or TWRP. Not so for the Optimus G pro and several other newly released phones. In the case of the LG Optimus G Pro, I have not been able to find a version of CWM TOUCH recovery which works on my phone as described above. CWM will work, but ONLY by using the phones vol+/vol- and power keys to move between menu selections. Also, The menu selection bars and print is so small on the 5.5" screen, it is almost unreadable. I have yet to find a TWRP version that will load and work as intended with my software version. In the versions I have tried, the upper section of the TWRP buttons work with touch, but the lower buttons often freeze TWRP and require I remove the battery and reboot to clear.
I have searched the LG Optimus GPro forums and have found this to be a known issue with both CWM and TWRP when operating on the LG Optimus G Pro, and by posting the question, I hoped to find someone who owns an LG Optimus G Pro with software version E98010k (this version is known to exhibit the problems with TWRP) who had found a FULLY functional CWM TOUCH or TWRP display... no one has come forward and I am about ready to concede no one has a working TOUCH version of CWM or TWRP for this phone with the software version listed.
This one has worked for me. On e98010k. I've had the touch issues using freegee's twrp, but this one works great.

*Edit - Nvm. Just went back to stock to test this, and touch is off. Weird. But I do remember having a working touch twrp on the stock rom.

Yeah, I'm upgrading from the S3 to the E980. I plan to flash the Claro Panama ROM, which I believe is E98010a, and if I do stick with stock, it's likely to be that one, but I'm 99.999% sure I'll end up on CM 10.2 with this device.
It's so sad to see such a powerful and all around great featured device so ignored.
Will the TWRP Loki modified work well with the Claro Panama ROM?

I'm not sure... I know the LOKI TWRP in Freegee was tested with E98010g and works. Does not work with E980010k and does not work. There was some discussion a month or so ago of someone here in the forums who was going to recompile TWRP for E980010k but I have not seen a result... Perhaps someone who is using E9800..A might chime in?
Hi all,
I am pretty new to flashing custom roms to android phones.
Since I am a new member I am not allowed to post links so please bear with me....
The problem I am having, once I've flashed houstonn's AOSP kitkat rom is that the wifi does not work.
Here are the steps I take:
1) root the phone using motochopper or ZV9-ZVB-Universal-Root.
2) Install FreeGee
- backed up my EFS using FreeGee
3) Install CWM or TWRP using FreeGee
4) Boot in recovery mode
- made a backup here too
5) wipe cache and dalvik cache
6) install AOSP and paranoid android gapps
7) reboot the phone
Also worth nothing: My first attempt at flashing the phone ended up soft-bricking my device, and i lost my backup, and thus had to work my phone back to stock via KDZ_FW_UPD and the E97120D kdz obtained from the "Original LG Firmware" tool.
It seems the problem lies with the EFS. The phone knows its IMEI but lists its MAC address as unknown. But I cannot be sure really what the problem is.
Please, I really need some help troubleshooting this: Any ideas anyone has that could help me troubleshoot this is very much appreciated.
Thanks.
additional info
the rom ( used version 3 ):

a guide i used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450220
- the guide is outdated on the SBL Unlock Method stuff (just used the mako unlock instead)
- it tells me to factory reset before and after flashing rom, if I do a factory reset at either point the phone goes into a bootloop
used this tool to backup efs (before installing rom) and recovering efs (after installing rom and noticing network, wifi, and camera did not work):

Not sure if this is worth noting as it seems unrelated:
- Flashed SuperSU to fix root issue
- Flashed NFC fix (though I am unsure if it was the fabled canadian fix mentioned here and there in these forums but it did SEEM to fix the NFC so...yay?)
Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 coming in my direction, ordered it on Monday.
I already have decided that I will install CyanogenMod but this time I would like to do it properly.
Since I am not savy in backing up all the original software and firmware and roms and recovery and etc...
Maybe you could share with me some guidelines on how I could backup any relevant part of the Firmware or Software on Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 in the event that I need to restore its "factory" state.
Is there a specific app that I could use that would allow me to backup everything and then I could use the backup file(s) to restore it using any tool like flashing via recovery or even Odin? My question here is if I will be app dependant or my backup could be installed seamlessly?
Am I missing any thing here not mentioned or I am in the right path?
Cheers and thanks in advanced!
