[Q] Before I mess my Tab Pro 8.4 - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 coming in my direction, ordered it on Monday.
I already have decided that I will install CyanogenMod but this time I would like to do it properly.
Since I am not savy in backing up all the original software and firmware and roms and recovery and etc...
Maybe you could share with me some guidelines on how I could backup any relevant part of the Firmware or Software on Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 in the event that I need to restore its "factory" state.
Is there a specific app that I could use that would allow me to backup everything and then I could use the backup file(s) to restore it using any tool like flashing via recovery or even Odin? My question here is if I will be app dependant or my backup could be installed seamlessly?
Am I missing any thing here not mentioned or I am in the right path?
Cheers and thanks in advanced!
Luis

[Q] Backup/Restore! Need Help!

Hey guys, I recently flashed CM 10.1 without backuping up anything, so I lost my IMEI/EFS, so basicaly I wasn't able to connect to my carrier. I did everything to get my phone back to normal but nothing worked so I had to give me phone to repair (This was the second time). But today I got it back and I want my phone to be free and I want to put CM 10.1 on my device again, but before I do anything I want to backup my device so I wouldn't have to wait 1 month for my phone to get repaired.
I searched the XDA-Dev website for backing up the EFS folder couldn't find any post on the topic. I just did a backup using this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997).
What are the things I can do (I will do a nandroid backup after I root and install CWM).
And would I be able to backup using this guide from the video? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBQIoyQtEg)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747M (BELL)

A nandroid backup is always a good idea. Also in the stickied threads: [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI & Data Restore Tool v3.0 - Updated 11/01/2012!!!
That's pretty much all you need. Just be careful with what you flash and make sure to follow full OP instructions.

There is a misconception out there that NANDROID will backup you IMEI... it won't... best to back it up with tools that BWolf talked about...
If you don't back it up don't panic... your IMEI is written below battery...
Also what bailed me out twice so far was "factory reset" from TWRP. This forces google "welcome wizzard"... got my IMEI back twice using this method...
Once IMEI is back just restore your stuff either via Ti Backup or you can do most recent nandroid DATA ONLY restore and you're good to go...
Hope this helps

[Q] Question about restoring TWRP backup on diff. build

Let me preface this by saying that I searched the N7 forums for something similar to this, but was unable to find an answer. Apologies if I overlooked it.
I ended up having to return my original N7, due to a hardware issue with the screen, but I made a Nandroid backup (using TWRP) before wiping everything back to stock. I was using stock ROM/kernel and had only unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device. The tablet that I made the backup on was build JSS15J but my new replacement N7 is on build JWR66N. Will the difference in build # have any negative impact on restoring the Nandroid? I also backed up all my apps via TiBu, so I suppose I could resort to that option if I'm unable to use TWRP, but I wanted to check with the experts here first before making any moves. Any help with this is sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much.

If you did a full backup and are now doing a full restore, you should get back exactly what you had regardless of what is currently on your device. So in your example, your new device will end up with JSS15J.
I had 2 N7s at one point. One was stock and the other on CM10.2. I ended up returning the one on CM10.2 (after reverting back to stock using the factory images) but did not want to have to redo CM10.2 and go through setup on the other device. So I just took the twrp2 backup and restored it onto the stock N7 and voila... I had CM10.2 installed and fully configured.

Thanks very much for the reply. You are absolutely right. I ended up flashing the backup, and it changed my build to JSS15J. Good news is that everything seems to be working fine after flashing. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

[Q] Made a n00b mistake on my 8.4 - How do I get back to Stock?

Hi all,
I made a dumb move and installed the CM11 port for my T320 without backing up my Samsung stock firmware. (I'd post over in the appropriate thread in the development section, but I haven't posted here frequently enough to be allowed over there). I want to go back to the Samsung UI for now because I am having some troubles with CM11 ... my tablet thinks it's a phone, so I'm not getting the tablet features and app versions. Plus something is off with my screen so that some apps (Flipboard, at least) runs everything off the right side and bottom of the screen. Anyway, does anyone have an idea of how to get me back to my Samsung UI? I can't get Kies to talk to my tablet (another thing that cropped up with this CM build) so I can't get that to reflash it for me.
I have downloaded an Odin-flashable Samsung stock firmware from Australia (I'm in the US) so I'm guessing that will work, but I'd rather find an easier option before I give my tablet a globetrotting split identity disorder or something.
Please understand, I've rooted, reflashed, and even unbricked devices before, so I'm not new to this, just made a dumb mistake.
I believe that is the only way to go. The good news is you can install twrp recovery now so it shouldnt be an issue again. Bad news is there isnt a flashable stock firmware that I know of yet. Im kinda hoping for cleanrom as he did a hell of a job on the note 3 and knows the system better than most.

I've used Samsung Kies from my PC several time to go back to stock.
When using Kies you may have to switch your connection from MTP to the other option and of course check debug.
I went back and forth from CM11 several time plus I did what you did also except I used the New Zealand version
Here's what I did to restore stock from Kies.
Plug in the tablet, open Kies, and click Tools then Firmware upgrade and initialization. Type in SM-T320, hit okay, then add your serial number.
Basically just follow the steps it asks you and make sure your tablet is in download mode. It will download the stock firmware image and flash it to the device.
My instructions might now be 100% accurate, but that's basically the process I took to restore it to factory.

[Q] CustomROM on Pro 10.1 Live Demo Unit SM-T520x

Good evening peeps,
My brother has been kindly given an ex demo unit of a Pro 10.1 (SM-T520x) for his son to use.
Does anyone have experience in bringing this back to a fully functioning unit?
I have tried to research as much as possible to avoid asking a question that has been asked many times before.
I can see quite a few threads for different models, each with their own set of challenges (missing hardware, partition size differences,
boot loops etc).
Do these units come with the retail mode app that can be unlocked using the passwords available online?
Am I able to flash a CustomROM to the device?.
Any tips are greatly appreciated.
Tom
Good morning all,
I just thought id pop back here and answer my own question (in case someone else searches looking for the answer).
You can indeed treat the SM-T520x exactly the same as a retail SM-T520
I took the plunge and went for it....
1) Rooted the tablet using 'CF-Auto-Root-picassowifi-picassowifixx-smt520' (via odin).
2) Installed Flashify from the app store.
3) Backed up recovery and kernel (from within flashify).
4) Installed TWRP from within flashify (Followed other advice and installed a 2.7.x.x version).
5) Made a full backup within TWRP.
6) Completed a FULL ADVANCED WIPE within TWRP (everything except external SD Card).
It was then ready for a customROM, I chose 'SMT520_GraveD_V3.0' and flashed it from within TWRP...
My nephen has been using it daily for over a week now and its brilliant. Only remnant left is the initial samsung splash screen still
says 'live demo unit'... but thats no issue at all.... he is well happy.
I hope that might help someone sometime
I have just bought an tab pro 8.4 ex demo unit and I was wondering the same as you did, so thanks for sharing the above info! It will help me a lot.
Did you change the splash screen? I'll probably change that when my tab arrives.
Thanks again, Andy

[Q] TabPro 8.4 keep restarting - not related to Knox

Hello people.
My TabPro 8.4 is sometimes reset in a short period of time.
The history: I was using the CM12, however i decided to return for the Stock. Restored the backup i had, put the original Recovery save by Flashify, then did F. Reset. Still flash the Stock Rom available for my country in SamMobile using Odin 3:10. So, I root the tablet using CF_Auto_Root method. I not authorize the SuperSU deal with Knox. Installed Titanium Back-up and froze some Apps. However, I had no problems until yesterday.
Today the tablet has restarted 4 times and do not know why. I installed Catlog and not changed any settings, just put to record. I do not know if it is safe to post or if I have to delete some information before post here. In fact, if there is any use in post it.
So... I can post, does have some utility the log or some other program to help find out why the tablet rebooted?
Thanks for all the attention.
Sorry about English.
