I'm using X_stronger 2.3.7 under doomkernal on Arc s (LT18i)
the problem is even in gingerbread i can only get the total ram of 273 mb on my device
does each roms reduces the amount of ram individually ??
is any way to get my actual ram size back on this ??
sorry if my question feels dumb thnx

Android use the rest of the memory. You dont have 512 to use.

This is RAM not internal
And to ur question
Yes each ROM may have different amount of usuable RAM
And change back to the ROM that gave u the gd ram
Sent from my LT18i
For reduce ram, I can only suggest tap the 'Force Stop' from any app you dont wanna running, Thats it
Greenify works too if you're on ICS and above.

You can't get 512MB of RAM because some part of it is always allocated for operating system, camera, radio, etc.

Use Ram manager pro, has ui, and do the same as supercharger.
Enviado de meu R800i usando o Tapatalk 2
Man the supercharger for me is to complicated to get it working 100%
As the previous friend told you, its better to use ram manager pro and on top i use autokiller memory optimizer and man, THATS AWSOME!! alomst 230mb free with the NXT 1.2 ROM
Just realised this was in the accessories forum, was using the app so I probably clicked in between the Q&A and accessories forum -_-...Could a mod please move this?
I dont think u9rc9 was meant for GB. Also the supercharger starter kit. Mybe it was meant for ICS.
Edit; Nvm. Silly me.
Hi,
My old phone was Sony Xperia Neo V and it had 512MB of RAM, in that I used to run MIUI and I, user was able to use ~320 MB of RAM out of 512MB rest was hidden by OS for it's own use. My current phone is Sony Xperia S which has 1GB of RAM and I can see 636MB for my use. This indicates that Android keep for itlself ~40% of total RAM. I feel reserving 40% of RAM is wastage as I was running the same ICS based MIUI on my previous Xperia Neo V in which Android reserved ~200MB of RAM and it used to work pretty smooth. So, my question is how can I change the % of default RAM reserved by Android so that I can save my 200MB of RAM in my current Xperia S, as I believe 200MB of RAM would be sufficient for smooth running of my Xperia S as it was running in Neo V.
Thanks
Are you running an official/unofficial version of CM?
Settings>Performance>Memory management>Check Allow purging of assets, Kernel same page merging and set zRam to the max percentage. That should free quite a bit of RAM.

If it's based on MIUIAndroid Xperia S ROM (which is stock Sony ICS patched) then chances are that the only way you will get more RAM is using a init.d tweak or RAM manager app to change the RAM management/allocation...
I would suggest supercharging the ROM, search for it

i think sony always reserve some of the ram, i can see other manufacturers don't and they are better with multitasking, is there a solution to make use of all the ram that we buy???

Sorry, that was stupid joke. It is normal that your wifes XS shows only 685 RAM, system takes the rest of 1GB.
GPU - 200mb
hardware - 139mb
user/system -685
There are ways to increase but its realy complicated (pro dev level)

RAM in the roms is not so important. It's multitasking what does the job. Currently im using letema's 4.3 and multitasking is incredible. No lags at all despite (more or less) 670mb of user-availible ram and, belive me, i have many apps installed on my phone. But still im waiting for another version of KitKat from Rayman. People say that (even though there is 620mb user availible ram) it's smooth as hell. So yeah, RAM is not so important. And it's not only me who says that. The devs think the same

there is nothing to hog ram with AOSP and CM
AOSP will allways be more ram - multitask freindly then CM10+
and finaly official GB will allways be the best for multitasking then anything else ever made for our XS
(with a non modded system and no root)
Gingerbread 80mb used/605 free. after heavy use for 3 days)

i agree 100%, what i ment is that ram usage may be more efficient even if there is actually less user-availible RAM
BTW: you were supposed to built your own 4.4 rom, isn't that right? how do the things look like right now?

Camera (just laggs up right after opening) (and if not it says camera unavailable)
kernel -
recovery (sometimes- moody :/)
info: i googled alot and is currently using a cyannogenmod guide to build this

The problem is due to the STOCK firmware itsellf.
It leaves only 80MB for RAM after a heavy usage App.
And even floods past the ram freezing the phone.
Can not be helped. Stock firmwares are really bad.
Try AOSP builds. They provide a lot of space for RAM to fluctuate
Hi guys, what can you tell about this? Personally, I noticed that games wont keep in memory if I go to another app, like whatsapp, and then return to the game. For example, candy crush, subway surfers...if I do multitasking with paused game, when I come back its gone...

My gnex 4.3 is fine with multitasking... just now I check switching from Prince of Persia to whatsapp then to play store back again to the game. Resuming the game went fine.
Maybe you put your background setting limit to none.... try checking your Background process limit on Setting > Developer options
They do when you have enough resources.

You have to understand also that these apps aren't updated with 4.3 api so the apps aren't used to the way 4.3 handles the memory of keeping apps.

sucks in my opinion.. but i have only tried custom 4.2 never been on stock 4.2 soo can't say if 4.3 stock is better... for me custom rom 4.2 and kernel were far more better performance wise..
still you guys know better and more than me coz i own the phone only from the past 2mnths

I never use CM, I can surely says Stock 4.3 is far more better than Stock 4.2.2 performance wise... 4.1 is the fastest i think... but maybe it's because the butter first introduce to us, and we came from GB or ICS with more lag on UI.
FYI using stock from 4.1 to 4.2.2, I never had any issues on multitasking... maybe because I never had a lot of apps and games installed, IIRC I can multitasking with minimal 3 or 4 apps back and forth with no problem whatsoever
4.3 should be faster because it introduces a new frtrim (?) function that helps with memory management so the system doesn't start to crawl after a while. Frankly it should work better overall but this might be a downfall.
On my N72, I was playing Riptide 2 and it crashed during a race. Probably just a crash but could have been an emergency memory seizure. Probably not but could be.
We'll just have to see

It only works for modified RAM kernels. Get Liquid Smooth and then get Madridii's 390 or (if you don't normally use your phone for YouTube) 400MB kernels, go to performance and select Very Aggressive in Memory Usage Presets and play on. I played CSR with little lag.

They are pretty stable. Not fully, obviously but mostly. Look at Liquid Smooth, its far by the best in stability (IMO) and performance. And that's what I use.
Look at you, you use GB. Yes, its stable but define stable in your terms. LS has most of what you need. GB has far by the worst performance (unmodded that is) and thus, proved by the crash of CSR racing.
If you want to do what Felix said, then use the modified EOLs like OOAK or something like that...
