Hello,
My HTC Desire HD gets stuck on the HTC screen when I try to boot it.
I am kinda new to this, so I should not have done what I did. I got this phone used and I rooted it, and tried to install a custom ROM.
And something went wrong, likely I didn't prepeard the phone the right way.. And of course, I have been serching a lot on the web, some things don't work and other this requires tools that have a bad download link or outdated.
So my question is: How do I make my phone like normal? Like unrooting and removing everything if possible..
Would be so great if someone could help me out or just by linking me to a working tutorial.
Thank you and have a nice day. And please, ask if something is unclear or if you have questions.
I have a very similar issue

Hi, I have done a similar thing, in that in an attempt to flash a custom ROM, I removed everything. Now, all ROMs just produce the HTC splash screen.
Please help as this is my only phone !!!
You both need to provide more detail on what state your phone was in to begin with and what you did to it. I have a hunch that your phones are S-On with unlocked bootloaders, and that neither of you flashed the boot.img from fastboot after flashing the ROM from recovery. But more detail on what you have and what you did is necessary.

Yes, you are right. I just flashed the boot.img with fastboot AFTER installing from recovery. Jellytime booted up. I really have to thank you for that.
And again, you are right. The phone is S-Om and bootloader unlocked.
I used a a tool named "EasyUnlockTool". It rooted, unlocked the bootloader and some other things.
But right now, I think I am going to stick to jellytime. But to help caraar12345 and me later if I want to go back to stock room, what kind of information do you need?
Thank you for helping
You can either flash a rooted stock-like ROM from recovery, in which case you'd be mostly stock, or relock your bootloader and run a RUU from your computer in fastboot, in which case you'd be completely stock.

To go back to stock:
1. you need to flash stock recovery
2. re-lock bootloader
3. run the RUU that goes with your CID
Or if you made a backup straight after flashing CWM, you do the following:
1. restore your back up
2. flash stock recovery
3. re-lock bootloader.
And please if you're gonna follow the link that nobnut gave, read it carefully and follow it as per instructions.
thanks so much guys, sorry for the trouble. one last question i guess. how to determine the correct ruu, i can see on the box saying made i china though

Is it an unbranded phone?
Go here http://hoxroms.serveftp.com/ or here
http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
And you might have try the ones from Asia.
Seriously though you should be prepared to read before you dive into things. You should've known what CID/RUU you needed before flashing any ROM. Because you might brick your phone without reading and following instructions.
Do you know what was your original ROM version was before using the custom ROM?
hmmm ill try asia RRU, since im from phil, i can see a telstra logo below your name, im actually working for telstra based here in Philippines...

My friends here in Australia are from Phils. Anyway all you can do is try the Asian RUUs. I would start with this one http://www.filefactory.com/file/6d5...Radio_1.1204.103.14_release_257077_signed.exe
ill try that after this one
from ASIA_SEA version 1.28.728.9
thanks so much for your help, i'll actually go there before this year ends,

hey, if you have used htcdev tool to unlock your bootloader , you need to LOCK again the bootloader in the same way, and then use Advanced ACE Hack Kit (12062012) w/ENG Support, after using this program use the clockworkmod recovery to flash a custom rom (android revolution hd, miui, ics. etc)

Very little information to go on, but when people say unlocked boot loader. The issue is that flashing of roms is different and people fail to realize that.
After flashing a rom you have to flash the boot.img separately. Take the boot.img from what ever rom you want, put it in your fast boot folder. Boot phone into hboot. And run
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Can't stress enough to everyone to please research before you attempt anything on a phone. Heck I spent a month reading the threads learning about roms/flashing/troubleshooting before I attempted to root.(this was my first android device)
Have another problem;
why my device turned off by it self when usb/charger is unpluged?
its there any problem at my mini usb socket?
or its is like that when got problem with software?

Hello Everyone,
I am having an issue with my M8.
I decided to try out SkyDragon, give it a shot.
I downloaded the ROM, put it on my SDcard. Flashed Philz 6.25 recovery, did NOT make a nandroid backup (I know i'm an idiot),then proceeded to flash the rom via Philz.
I flashed the Rom, and followed all the instructions, I then rebooted the phone. Still stuck at the bootscreen. I read the Q&A and tried to flash the rom multiples times. Still stuck on the boot screen. I have an unlocked bootloader with S-ON.
I just got this phone a few months ago and I am unable to take it out of this state. Could use some help. Thank you.
Is your firmware up to date? Not sure about Skydragon specifically, but long boot times (along with broken WiFi) is often a symptom of outdated firmware.
Let the phone alone for 10 minutes or so, and see if it eventually boots, and isn't actually "stuck" (but rather just takes a REALLY long time).
To flash a different ROM, adb push it to internal storage, or put in on your SD with a USB card reader connected to your computer. Then boot into recovery and flash.

Hello,
I've actually tried flashing another ROM "Android HD Revolution" I believe. The phone shows the HTC Screen along with some red text at the bottoms saying "this build is for developer purposes only....". The phone then stays on the HTC screen for ~3mins then reboots and continues to boot loop.
You just need to flash the new firmware that is found in the sky dragon OP.
Easiest way is to use fastboot. Google fastboot firmware m8. Lots of guides out there. It's only a few commands.
Edit: Should have asked if you are s-off. That will make a difference in your ability to flash new firmware.

Hello Thanks for the reply.
However, I am currently S-ON, I have searched ways to achieve S-OFF but they all require installing a ROM. However, I cannot flash any rom, I will just get the bootloop. If you could advise on a method that would work for my situation, I would be very grateful.

Start with fastboot getvar all command in fastboot/bootloader, put the result here (delete serialno and imei no.) .. then we'll see whether is there any stock ROM available for your device.

You needed to make sure you have the latest GPE software, s-off and supper cid... Also you need to know and have ADB/FASTBOOT installed on your PC.. All which can be found throughout all of the various threads.... Right now you soft bricked your device and needed to return to stock... And stay the process over.

You don't "need" the latest gpe software. The rom runs fine on the latest sense firmware.

Issue Resolved!
Hello Everyone.
The issue is resolved. Through many flashes, wipes and commands. Its done. I was able to flash the rom, let the rom sit for ~20mins, and it finally booted up into Lollipop. I now have no wifi. However, I should be able to follow the FAQ to get S-OFF and fix my wifi!. Thanks team. I really appreciate it.
I've just finished rooting and installed a custom ROM on my device, but now I'm looking into S-Off. My question is, how?
I did this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706391
and now I don't have Wi-Fi, which apparently means that my firmware needs to be updated.
How, exactly, does one do that when you're no longer on the service provider it was on?
I'm on T-Mobile now, it was on AT&T. The phone is an AT&T HTC One M8.
I've got the files for Firewater, but I'm not 100% sure how to go about it, other than following tutorials I've found. Anyway, if someone could assist me in this search, it would be greatly appreciated.
Chances are firewater is not going to work, you'll need to use Sunshine S-off (pay 25$), S-off jas nothing to do with carrier
Sunshine: http://theroot.ninja
Firewater instructions: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
If I try Firewater, is there a chance to royally mess up my work? I.E. brick me, or will it error out beforehand?
firewater does NOT work. and will never work again. You can own the files but they won't work as it has has to establish a connection to the s-off server which is offline. sunshine is the one and only way. you can read that in the s-off thread here on xda and on their website !
and also questions belong in the Q&A section so please use that board the next time instead of the general subforum.
good luck with sunshine

Theirs a AT&T RUU here >>link removed by request
that will let you flash some roms here, not all
You'll have to relock your bootloader to flash it - fastboot oem lock -
and when your finished updateing unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP and root

Ah, see, this is the info that I couldn't find at all. I had no idea it was server-related, so it wouldn't work. I thought all the files were local, that's why I was investigating. Well, as long as Sunshine will work and not mess anything up, I guess that's what I'm going to have to do. Even though there's another ROM on my phone, I should still be able to use Sunshine and get the firmware updated without any issues, yeah? I would just like to get confirmation from someone who knows my exact situation and not search the forums to a situation "Similar" to mine and eff up my phone.

S-OFF means do as you like, change firmwares, convert to GPE and back to sense. S-OFF is freedom
Okay, here's where I'm at, if anyone would inform me in the direction I should take...
I've unlocked the bootloader, flashed a ROM, and rooted. Wi-Fi doesn't work because I need the newer firmware on the device.
In order to get the newer firmware, I need to have S-Off. I don't. Sunshine doesn't work because the ROM I have flashed is a 5.0.1 version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706391 If it helps.
Can I go digging to find a KitKat-based ROM and see if Sunshine will work then, or do I need to go through the BS to flash stock everything on my phone and THEN run Sunshine? I'd really like some advice before I royally mess something up.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I found this and it looks like something that might work. Flash InsertCoin, download and pay for Sunshine, S-Off, flash firmware, go back to SkyDragon?

Forgive me for asking, but I've searched... Where is this rooted stock one you're talking about?
All right, I've flashed back to as stock as I can find, but it's still not allowing Sunshine to be installed.
However, I've stumbled upon something saying that if the Recovery is fastboot booted, it acts as though the device is S-Off? If I run the recovery in such a manner, could I possibly flash a new Firmware on there like that?

I did it with that one..
Okay, here's an update:
I flashed that ROM you showed me, Alex, and then used Sunshine to S-Off my M8. That worked. I paid for it, all is well.
Flashed the Viper ROM, but didn't have Wi-Fi. So, I went back to SkyDragon, same thing.
I flashed firmware 4.28.401.9 (I think. I did typed that from memory..) but I still have no Wi-Fi.
I'm going to try to flash the GPE firmware now. I'll edit once I get it up and running!
Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate your help!

If your wifi isn't working with ViperOne, then the firmware didn't flash correctly. Go to your bootloader/hboot and check the readout there. What it says under OS is your firmware version. If it is blank it is because of your recovery. TWRP 2.8.0.3 is recommended. You can also tell by the hboot number. 3.19 = 4.4.4 firmware

That's awesome to know. I literally just flashed the GPE firmware, and I think I partitioned properly. (no errors while installing) It's currently doing the first boot.
Flashing that GPE firmware was nerve-racking. It went sooo slow. Here's hoping it goes through! UPDATES TO COME! I'm excited.
UPDATE:
HOLY HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG IT WORKED.
Good LORD I CAN FINALLY DOWNLOAD MY UPDATES.
Please excuse the caps, I'm effing excited right now. THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE.
Nice that you have it working.. Don't forget.. If you want to go back to sense you need the sense firmware.. As the partitions are a bit different.. Btw I'm very happy ? with gpe 5

Right at this point, I don't care to go back to Sense firmware. I'm spoiled by the bright look of SkyDragon, so this is where I'm staying!
I am quite the idiot when it comes to custom roms and such, so i apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge. Anyways, I had CM13 for quite some time before this and was using twrp. In my adventures of installing my first custom rom I had thought I needed to re-lock my boot loader, so because of this i no longer has s-off. I used sunshine to achieve s-off in the first place and needed to go back to a stock rom to repeat the process. along with this I had gps problems on my custom rom and had read that i need to go back to stock. I looked on the internet to find a twrp flash able rom, that would do such. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694994) I was unaware that this would get rid of my custom recovery (again, sorry for my stupidity) and now my screen is stuck on black when I try to boot up the phone, I am incapable of reverting back to my custom rom, and as I noted before, I have a locked boot loader. Everything I have looked for on the internet requires s-off. Is there any possible way re achieve s-off with out a functioning os (I can still access the stock bootloader) or am I just screwed?
Thank You for the help!
P.S. I have the Verizon variant.
Your biggest mistake here is installed wrong ROM on wrong device.
You shouldn't install a GSM stock ROM on a CDMA device, for your case is Verizon.
