Just read this story about Replicant OS and looks very promising and I already can't wait to test it out. However I own the Verizon galaxy nexus and I know that it requires more work with the radio and everything else so is anyone working porting it to the big V?

Hi, I want to buy a new phone and I'm choosing between the Galaxy Nexus and S III. Which one do you recommend? I like how the Nexus looks, and getting updates first. I like the specs in the S III but I'm not a big fan of how it looks and I definitely don't like the TouchWiz UI. Where I live there is not much difference in price. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
What carrier?

S3 then sell it and buy a nexus and profit (if you are going on contract) i actually had achance to test the s3 and on 4.0.4 it seemed pretty descent ... you could go with the s3 for sure either phone will get huge amount of support and i guess s3 is more future proof on specs so up to you
If on Verizon get the Gnex. If on any other carrier the S3.

Unlocked phones. Where I live carriers do not sell locked phones.

Well only one has the new Jelly Bean.....
That was my reasoning. By the time the s3 gets jelly bean Google will have a new nexus device out with an update. If I was Verizon I would not be happy with googles timing of jellybeans release. Especially with them collaborating on the nexus

U wont need s3 godly hardware with our buttery super smooth JB powered nexus~

This forum its crowded with threads about ppl regretting about sold gnex to buy s3 and hello guys I'm back sold my s3 for a gnex+xxxxx dollars.. Gnex Rox etc etc x.x

Get sgs3 since it is better hardware than nexus. You can change the software but not hardware.
Flash CM10 on sgs3 and you should be good.
I have a galaxy nexus because I bought the unlocked gsm for $350 which is a good deal and use it as a secondary phone

absolutely nothing is stable like stock, especially on phones which don't come with aosp natively ( i.e everything except nexus).

Now, I don't want to make rumors or anything, but this isn't a rumor. Listen to my line of logic for a second, even if the SGH-t989 doesn't get Jelly Bean, the SkyRocket will at which point a complete, stable version of Jelly Bean can be ported. Know that we know it's incoming, we just need to play a waiting game..

Devices confirmed to get Jelly Bean 4.1.1 :
Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Galaxy Note 10.1
Galaxy S II
Galaxy Note
Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
Galaxy S Advance
Galaxy S II LTE
Galaxy Music
Galaxy Chat
Galaxy Ace 2
Galaxy Beam
Galaxy Ace Plus
Galaxy Mini II
Galaxy S DUOS

Read this earlier in flipboard. I heard that usually when they mention gs2, they mean the international one... hopefully we do get the update

Definitely hopeful, but if skyrocket gets it, I will be just as happy since the ROMs will be stable.

Exactly where I read it from as well. Passed it on because I saw no one made a mention about it.

They mentioned Galaxy S II LTE, which is identical to the T989. So even if it's not released to T-Mobile officially one of the great devs here will port it, no doubt.
I never had a doubt that the Hercules would get JB it was just a matter of when

Anybody know why CM10 stable for Galaxy Nexus Verizon is exist but for Sprint version no? Seems that it is a little bit strange
Thanks!
BUMP!!! Wondering the same thing myself.
I have CM 10 on my sprint Gnex... I got it thru ROM Toolbox Premium and its working perfectly!

This thread was 2 weeks old and definitely not in need of a bump. In fact it serves absolutely no purpose now and should've been left dead.
Is possible to add a dual-boot on the Galaxy Nexus when it' s starting like the Galaxy S2 or S3?
I'm sorry but I'm italian and I' don't write well
Actually there's anything like that for gnex afaik.

Can a modder do a dual-boot option?
If there is this option for the Galaxy S2 and S3 why it can't work with the Galaxy Nexus?
I'm sorry but I'm italian and I' don't write well
Boot Manager lite and there's a paid version as well. I've heard that it works but have never tried it personally. I looked at it this morning and it's still in the play store but am not sure it's being actively developed any more so be careful. I'm told it works but I'm not sure how well it would work with 4 2 roms though.
Yes, I know it but it isn't a very dual boot because the secondary rom is slow.

Hey all, I just wanted to let you know that android 4.4 is out, and rolling with the nexus 5 first.
Hopefully, we can see some support for this sexy piece of hardware called the captivate glide.

Highly doubtful, as even the Galaxy Nexus got ditched officially. Kernel problem (TI isn't there any more so it's hard to develop 3.4.y kernel for OMAP4). Glide uses Tegra2's 3.1.y kernel which was EOL much earlier... So KitKat could happen to us, but not that easily.
And my Nexus 4 just got a fully functional KitKat port from Nexus 5 factory image
