Hi folks! As you already know Sammy is going to show us something tasty in London, 3rd of May. And everything we know from rumoures and benchmarks shows that this boy is going to be hot thingy with quad core CPU outperforming Tegra 3 and A5 , HD screen , great 12 mp camera and all these packed in some sexy materials So , on the other hand it's obviously going to be bloated with Touchwiz stuff , no comparison with pure Google experience we have now , but something tells me that this sweetie is going to be even a bigger hit than SII so development is also going to be great for it. No doubts CM9 will find it's place inside the monster . What's your thoughts on this guys ? How do you feel on switching your Gnexy friend ?

If it doesn't have soft keys then its a instant no. I probably won't get it anyways. If I get a new phone it will be the next nexus.
Its not a Nexus. Why would I want it?
im buying it.. n keeping my nexus.. but if the design isn't unique like the nexus was then ill just buy a HTC One X
What temptation?

does that not look like a Galaxy Nexus with capacitive touch buttons? lol
the only downside, touchWiz and slow updates, I'll stick to the Nexus

It's going to be the most powerful android phone, man . And I'm sure Sammy understands that to beat one X, design and material of SIII should be great too

There will be so much development on the SGS3 and the hardware is going to be such a step up above the Galaxy Nexus... I don't think a lot of people will be able to resist if the price isn't too steep

Yeah but what about CM9 ? It's updating very often syncing with latest Google sources ? And one more . What all those updates have really brought to our nexus ? They just fixed a lot of stupid bugs, nothing more ... As a former user of GSII I know that the most part of it's firmwares were almost bug less

No, I don't plan on getting it. But!!! it would be funny if this is true...lol

What if one will look like nexus , be 4 times more powerful than nexus and has even more development perspectives . Just look in GS II thread man , smooth AOSP roms , hundreds of themes , kernels, ports and other stuff . We don't have it here

There still is no point in having such a powerful device and I HIGHLY doubt it will have Jelly Bean or whatever before us. Plus, Touchwiz sucks hard.
I just read over on rootz that the sgs3 US lte version is getting the s4 snapdragon due to the quadcore having compatibility issues with lte.

This is already known. It's not necessarily "compatibility" issues per say, but rather Samsung's lack of LTE support outside of its own Korean chip that uses different frequencies.
if it has the exynos, it'll be damned hard for me to resist. either way, i'll be keeping my nexus, but i'll hold out to be sure that
1) it's got the proper hardware
2) clean ICS/non-touchwiz roms start coming out immediately

Yes I know it . Please read the OP and try to see how it's related to nexus forum. I know a lot of people who have a hard time deciding whether to stay with nexus or move to s3. This topic was made to help such people to see all pros and cons and make a right decision

When I contacted Samsung that when will the release 4.0.4 for Saudi arabian (yakjujp) GNex... they said " Please be advsied that although it is Samsung who made it, the Galaxy Nexus is a Google phone and thus its updates are not from Samsung but must come from Google itself."

Not to sound like a **** or anything, but the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit would easily allow you to unlock the bootloader and flash Google's stock factory image for 4.0.4. Much easier than waiting for it OTA...

Couldn't agree more on switching-to-yakju part. I don't like tookits.
A few fastboot commands and you're up running the latest yakju.
That...is kind of correct though....

Samsung are the ones to handle their own specific versions of ICS for the Galaxy Nexus.
Google manages in no way the various yakjuXX (where XX defines a region number) releases.

Why would you believe a tech rep to have any clue about this? Of course they are going to give out wrong info.
Its like the people who actually believe what a Verizon sales person says. They just work it as a job making $11 an hour in high school. How would they know anything or care.

Hi, I want to buy a new phone and I'm choosing between the Galaxy Nexus and S III. Which one do you recommend? I like how the Nexus looks, and getting updates first. I like the specs in the S III but I'm not a big fan of how it looks and I definitely don't like the TouchWiz UI. Where I live there is not much difference in price. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
What carrier?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
S3 then sell it and buy a nexus and profit (if you are going on contract) i actually had achance to test the s3 and on 4.0.4 it seemed pretty descent ... you could go with the s3 for sure either phone will get huge amount of support and i guess s3 is more future proof on specs so up to you
If on Verizon get the Gnex. If on any other carrier the S3.

Unlocked phones. Where I live carriers do not sell locked phones.

Well only one has the new Jelly Bean.....
That was my reasoning. By the time the s3 gets jelly bean Google will have a new nexus device out with an update. If I was Verizon I would not be happy with googles timing of jellybeans release. Especially with them collaborating on the nexus

Get sgs3 since it is better hardware than nexus. You can change the software but not hardware.
Flash CM10 on sgs3 and you should be good.
I have a galaxy nexus because I bought the unlocked gsm for $350 which is a good deal and use it as a secondary phone

absolutely nothing is stable like stock, especially on phones which don't come with aosp natively ( i.e everything except nexus).

Now, I don't want to make rumors or anything, but this isn't a rumor. Listen to my line of logic for a second, even if the SGH-t989 doesn't get Jelly Bean, the SkyRocket will at which point a complete, stable version of Jelly Bean can be ported. Know that we know it's incoming, we just need to play a waiting game..
http://www.redmondpie.com/android-j...ming-to-more-samsung-devices-later-this-year/
Devices confirmed to get Jelly Bean 4.1.1 :
Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Galaxy Note 10.1
Galaxy S II
Galaxy Note
Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
Galaxy S Advance
Galaxy S II LTE
Galaxy Music
Galaxy Chat
Galaxy Ace 2
Galaxy Beam
Galaxy Ace Plus
Galaxy Mini II
Galaxy S DUOS

They mentioned Galaxy S II LTE, which is identical to the T989. So even if it's not released to T-Mobile officially one of the great devs here will port it, no doubt.
I never had a doubt that the Hercules would get JB it was just a matter of when
