[Q] [Request] Cyanogenmod Odin Tar - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Since the newer S3 are having mount issues in recovery I am wondering if it is possible to make an ODIN Tar file of cyanogenmod that we can use?

Check out the new recovery fixes here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391616 And Odin tar in TWRP thread.

Newer S3 - "Recovery" issue addressed with MODded TWRP & CWM but not AOSP ROMs
The modded recoveries (MOD2 for me) are able to access internal storage, however, when flashing almost any AOSP ROM, android 4.3 ROMs, it hangs at the startup image.
What did they change with these newer S3s?

CM tar
I'd also like to see a CM 10.2 tar file to flash from Odin. I'm not looking to go back stock either.

Why not ask in the CM thread and see if the developers are willing to provide one. Just a suggestion cause I'm pretty sure they aren't cruising in the Q&A section
Have a great day!

I don't think a tar will help us with asop rooms not booting so I lets just close up this thread

Going back to rooted stock jellybean ROM from CM10.1

I wish to return to a rooted stock JB ROM from CM10.1 . CM10.1 is too buggy for me, and CM10 had one bluetooth bug in the final release that was kind of a game killer for me. I'd like to go back to stock JB but keep my custom recovery. The only files I've found for stock jellybean are full stock in that they'll flash over my recovery as well as my system. Does anyone know where I can find a root stock image that will let me flash just the system and keep my recovery like any other rom, so that I can flash back to CM10.1 when it is more stable. PS I am also on Linux and do not regularly have access to a windows machine so I do not have access to Odin, or Kies.
after you flash to stock just flash a recovery, that's what i've done.
also, this is the wrong section and you should search first.

I searched and found only "One click" stock roms, and the "Fully Stock" roms. Neither of which solve my problem. Did you even read the portion of my post where I say I don't have access to Odin, or Kies or any of that? My only option for flashing is CWM. And I'm not sure how well overwritting CWM while CWM is flashing would work, but I don't think it would go well.

find a cwm flashable zip of a stock rom. it doesn't need to be a current version. flash that. then find the cwm flashable ota zips and flash those. you've retained root, and cwm. i have done this process as well.
i'd link you to the threads you need but i'm on my phone and it's difficult to find this way.
edit: one of the otas is here. i haven't found anything about updating to jelly bean, though. i know there's a tutorial somewhere about making cwm flashable zips, i might try making one for you after i get my sister to sleep.

go to this link:

find the appropriate version for your carrier and flash via your recovery. its pre-rooted and cwm/twrp flashable, no odin or PC needed.

No such ROM exists, as the Sprint GS3 has only gotten updates up to 4.1.2 (and without the Premium Suite). The International GS3 has also only gotten updates to 4.1.2, but it did include the Premium Suite. A lot of developers around these parts were able to create mods for various features of the Premium Suite, but the "official" stock Rom has not gotten them (obviously).
Here is a link to the latest Stock Rom (rooted) from Freeza. It is flashable in Custom Recoveries. I don't have the link to the Odin flashable stock 4.1.2, but I'm sure CNexus will be by shortly with the answer.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer, I'd be interested in the latest stock 4.1.2 (ODIN) as well, meanwhile I'll try the one you provided a link to.

If you want to return to 100% stock (no root, stock recovery, etc.) you can follow qbking's tutorial on his website. He also has the links to the "official" Odin files. I think, though, that they only go up to LJ7, so you'd have to run the OTAs in order to have the most updated "stock" experience.
If you have a custom recovery installed and want to go back to unrooted, stock MB1, you can also check out this billard412's thread on the matter. He has recovery-flashable files that will return you to 100% stock. Just be sure to read all of the instructions before you flash anything.
I have a quick question, though... Why are you so insistent on using Odin? Did you keep the stock recovery? And if you did, I'd like to hear your reasoning behind it. I'm quite intrigued by those who root but don't want the custom recoveries.

The answer is simple, even with custom recovery I always had problems with installing custom recovery roms and never had issues with Odin roms. It is just me I guess.
So I used stock ROMs from the link above and flashed them with CWM, I had to patch them a bit since I removed some system apps and it would not flash without patching the update_script.
Funny thing, the android version and build version didn't change but kernel and baseband versions changed as expected.
Since I've observed both MA6 and MB1 updates going through and (for MA6) even updating apps, I assume not only kernel and baseband got updated but for some reason that part of system info didn't change.
That info is stored in the /system/build.prop file. Check the contents with a root explorer, could be a bad download

On the phone that file indicates old android and build versions.
How do I view the build.prop.p file that is in the update itself?

If you mean the one that is on sdcard that I used for flashing then that one has only /patch/system/build.prop.p which is a binary patch I assume and the /system of the zip has only CSCVersion.txt and then a bunch of subdirectories.
Ok then, at this point it doesn't really matter. Did you want to stay on plain stock rooted or flash a custom rom? Flash your custom rom now, or stay on stock rooted and edit all instances of the build number to show "MB1" instead of what its showing right now
Maybe you could attach the portion of the correct build.prop MB1? That would make my life a bit easier thanks!

[Q] Can I flash a touchwiz ROM with Clockword recovery?

I have the Clockword recovery and CM 10.1 installed on my Sprint Galaxy S3 running on PagePlus
I would like to flash a Touchwiz rom. Which one can I flash using the Clockword Recovery (lightweight)?
Why is MD4 not flashable using Clockwork?
Thanks.
The official update is NOT flashable.using any custom recovery, custom meaning anything other than stock recovery.
And you can flash any Touchwiz rom with CWM recovery, as the MD4 update is not a ROM. OTAs are not full ROMs on their own, they are collection of files that patch the already existing apps to the most recent versions.
If you want to update to MD4, you simply need flash a custom ROM that is based on MD4 (check the thread titles and OPs), or you can flash freezas stock rooted MD4 ROM, not the update.

Thanks. That makes a few things clear.
Could you provide any suggestions on a Touchwiz ROM as close to the stock as possible, but preserves root of-course and does not require me to change my recovery. Thanks a lot. (I see you mentioned freezas and I'll try to find it, but just making sure).

Just to be doubly sure, here is what I do:
1) Download the file "MD4_update_FULL_Odex.zip" - The first link in the thread.
2) Place it on SDCard
3) Flash zip from SDCard using the CWM Based Recovery v5.5.0.4
The post in that thread confused me. And I did not want to mess up anything. I especially don't want to update the radio and firmware etc because I've flashed the phone to PagePlus and I'm not sure what that'll do to it.
Flashing Cyanogen any number of times in the past has had no effect.
Thanks agian.

Yes, that is correct
However, I would suggest to take this opportunity to update your recovery, as you are a full revision behind
The latest CWM can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151476
Download that recovery zip, boot into recovery, flash the recovery.zip, then go to advanced > reboot recovery, wait a bit for.it to reboot, and then flash the MD4odexed.zip

[Q] need help finding i747 4.4.2 stock rom

New galaxy user, here its a s3 for ATT 4.4.2 i747CUCFNE4. I have rooted using the Cf Auto-Root method.
Along the lines of trying to flash a new task manager apk, (for I had to factory reset my phone because the original task manager was missing) I came across a thread that had s5 apps (settings apk) and tried flashing this apk(don't laugh I know.) Then I couldn't get my phone to boot through the standard setup wizard. So I tried booting into recovery and factory resetting my phone clearing cache, dalvik, and partition.
My biggest problem arose when I chose to format system from ghe recovery.
I know all this can be fixed with odin but I can't find a 4.4.2 os link, I have read I can't simply downgrade my os. A link to a 4.4.2 stock rom thread would be greatly appreciated. I also have the Ktoonsez kernel installed if that makes any difference.
AT&T never released a full 4.4.2 ROM. AT&T released 4.3 and 4.4.2 via OTA updates only.
Since you are on the NE4 bootloader, do not flash anything that will attempt to downgrade the bootloader or the modem. A mismatched modem/bootloader combination may cause other problems.
Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789917
Ok I just reviewed your link in your response but just to be clear I'm starting where it says step 3: stock deodex and root and finishing the walkthrough from there?
And also will this reset me to my factory kernel?? Either or it doesnt matter to me I'm still trying to find one that I find suitable.
And I appreciate the speedy response you've been a huge help.
If you just want to get your phone up and running, I would flash Philz and then CM11. Confirm the bootloader and modem then decide if a stock ROM would be best.
I am always paranoid when it comes to flashing bootloaders on the s3 so I prefer to know exactly whan my phone is running.
I have never used the thread I linked because I no longer have an s3 i747m. Infact, I haven't had my s3 for several months.
Ok and my last question is you can flash Philz and CWM 11 through odin?
Nevermind I see it now greatly appreciated
I hope it all goes well. With CM11, you will also need to flash Gapps via CWM as CM11 does not include certain apps such as the Play store.
Now odin wont recoginize or open any of my rom files. Li see the rom im trying to flash by name but when i click open it only opens the next folder instead of initiating the flash. I really just need someone who has a 4.4.2 stock rom in md5 format.(edited or not.)
As a last effort if i get no answer im going to try to downgrade to another os and reupdate to 4.4.2 right after. Ive been searching for days now all i see are guides from how to upgrade to a different os . If it does include 4.4.2 they only posted the update and not the entire rom.
And when i do find someone posting a full rom for 4.4.2 its either not for 747i or its not a md5 file so someone plz help me.

DO NOT downgrade to a bootloader older than your NE4 -- doing so will cause a hard brick.
You did mean i747 instead of 747i, didn't you?
Odin is designed to not flash any stock rom that would install a bootloader than the one on your phone. this is to save you from hard bricking your phone. Since you are on 4.4.2, any stock rom in a .tar.md5 format has an older bootloader than your NE4. As far as I know, the only stock NE4 rom on the forums is in a .zip format for flashing from recovery, it was posted by enewman17. (The thread audit13 linked.) If you tried to flash an older bootloader and baseband package through recovery you will probably hardbrick the phone.
Otherwise, there are roms based on TW in the forums: S3Rx, TMS3KK, Likewise, and others. Some use the stock kernel, others give you an option from their Aroma install. The iBubbler's kernel in a couple of these roms is reported to be excellent.
I'm guessing you pulled your S5 apk from either the S3Rx or Likewise thread.
I appreciate everyones feedback and guideance. Yeah I meant i747. It gets pretty easy to misread something when all you've been doing was researching roms and guides. And now its back to researching and finding one of the roms you mentioned. Much appreciated everyone I hope u all have a blessed day..
i know this a zip , but maybe could find help in the thread.

[Q] Trying to Un-root from CM 12.1.. Failing ):

I was on CM 12.1 and I want to go back to completely stock Note 4, as if I purchased my device from the Sprint Store!
I went to download Odin and the stock firmware of Android 5.0.1 for my device, I followed instructions online, and when I press start in Odin, after about 3 seconds it Fails.
Can I not go back to stock Touchwiz 5.0.1 firmware after being on CM 12.1? I do not have a nandroid backup, and even when I try and access Recovery, it is no longer custom recovery, it is a very simple looking recovery screen, with no option to restore a backup.
What can I do! ): I'm extremely stressed and worried I'm not quite sure what to do.
My phone does go into Download mode just fine and show up in Odin.
Also, my phone actually boots up fine, and works fine, but there is no custom recovery, and Odin is failing when trying to flash the stock firmwares

Since you're familiar with CM and recent OE1 writes both on TW and CM, can you tell the OP if reactivation lock exists on CM, please? How to disable, if enabled?
He's trying to flash OF5 in Odin but it quickly fails or he's downloading the correct OF5 tar now. Add any suggestions you think he might need when coming from CM12 to stock tar these days.
I suspect the recovery is now stock due to partial flash (if possible), reactivation lock or attempt to root in Odin again.
Thanks in advance.
