HTC Desire running CM7 RC2
My camera was working last week. Recently, after it fell and hit the hard floor, when I open the camera app it says, "unable to connect to camera" until I go back to the home screen.
I wiped everything, tried a few different ROMs, even flashed some different camera apps that I found, nothing worked.
Any ideas? or did the fall do it in?
Thanks.
Well, different software did not help - high possibility that the camera was damaged in the impact.

Hi
Basically been having this problem for a while now and its starting to bug me. I rooted my phones ago now, and until recenlty the camcorder worked fine on all ROMS, however recently been facing a big problem with it. Every time I launch camcorder on any ROM my phone will freeze and have to take battery out and restart. I unrooted it and installed stock and it worked fine (so it can't be the SD card) re rooted again installed RSK and boom same problem. Does anyone have solutions to this?
Thanks in advance
If I remember correctly, the aroma installer gives you the option to change between two with a warning about one not recording. Also, have you tried another third party app to see if that works? You may also want to try taking the battery cover off and pressing (not too firmly) over the camera window and on the metal sheilding around it. It might have slightly disloged from the upper board but try the software first.
If you start noticing the notification LED, receiver (earspeaker) or camera flash not working as well, then it may need the upper board reconnecting to the main board and you should send it in for repair, but this is a pretty thin possibility, as I said, software first.

So I just recently bought a brand new One X from At&t's site. So far the phone is great and I really like it. But here is the issue and this is a weird one : the back 8mp camera doesn't work! I searched on google and youtube for solutions but to no avail. I say it doesnt work because it just shows a black screen and acts if its frozen or something, but I can press the home and other buttons succesfuly. It won't even let me switch to the front facing camera (no button to do so). So I did a factory reset on the device to see if that fixed it. It didn't but the front facing camera started working about 30 minutes into the usage after reset. It still doesn't show a button to switch cameras, and even other camera apps are the same (they just show front facing camera).. Any ideas on whats going on, or what I need to do..I am really trying to avoid a trip to the At&t store......cpied but the same problem
safest thing to do would to go back to the AT&T store, as long as it wasn't you who effed it up.
I am experiencing what seems to be a reproducible phone crash while casting Google Play Music to my TV. If the phone goes to sleep while casting and I wake it, hitting volume down or up buttons while on the lock screen crashes the phone. I couldn't replicate the crash while casting YouTube, only Google Play Music. Also, no crashing when adjusting song volume from lock screen while not casting. When the phone crashes it goes straight to the boot animation, no splash screen shown, and gets stuck there. I have to force shutdown to get it to turn off.
Phone is s-off, rooted, running latest stock.
Anyone with a Chromecast willing to replicate this crash? Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks.

Yep. I've had it happen to me as well. I've never really tried to see what the issue may be though.
Its happening to me too. Are you using xposed mod to wake with volume button? I am and I'm thinking that might be the cause. I'll try it a little later and report back.
Edit. That's not the cause. I turned off that mod and it still happens.
No xposed mod or anything else. All I'm doing is trying to adjust the volume of the song that is playing, which one should be able to do while casting, and the whole phone crashes. Is this an HTC problem or Google problem? midnight assassin, what ROM are you running?

I am experienced the same issue last night while using Netflix. I tried adjusting the volume while using my chromecast and then my phone reboots into the HTC one screen. I have to hold the power button until it hard reboots.

I get this same issue on Verizon HTC One, although it seems the phone doesn't need to be actually asleep, and it will reboot itself - does not need a hard reset from me.
Non Rooted HTC One
I am also having the same issues when trying to change the volume of Play while the screen is off. I have a non rooted Verizon HTC One.
exact same issue with me when using volume rocker after phone goes to sleep while casting Play Music. I am using ATT phone rooted, s-off, running latest ARHD 31.6 rom. this seems to be an issue with chromecast as it only happens when casting.
Thanks for reporting. I'm trying to figure out if the problem is on Google's end or HTC's. My Nexus 7 doesn't have this problem while casting.
I emailed HTC support about it, with a link to this thread. I'll post back if I get a reply.
I've noticed the same issue. I'm running InsertCoin 6.0-5. It took two reboots before I figured out why my phone kept crashing. I've been using my Chromecast for a while, and I only recently went back to a Sense rom. I was running CM 10.2 until recently, and I can't recall having this issue on that rom, but I can't say for certain. I'm sort of glad to see that I'm not the only one having a problem.
Edit: Oh, and I just noticed this is the Verizon forum (came across this thread via Google). I have an AT&T HTC One.
It's still good to know that the problem is not carrier specific.
I did heard back from HTC and they just punted saying that it's a third party app, not their problem, and suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which doesn't fix anything.
Anyone know how to report this to Google?

Typical manufacturer BS. If your OS crashes because of a third party app, then there's something wrong with your OS. A properly designed OS should be incapable of crashing because of a third party app. Never mind the third party in question in this case is Google... If it only crashes under HTC's spin of Android, then HTC broke something and needs to fix it.
I'm tempted to wait until the "sense-ified" release of KitKat comes out to see if that fixes the issue, since I'm waiting on HTC to fix the stupid purple hue low-light camera issue as well.
I have this very same problem, except i dont have to force shutdown. It just reboots sense (takes about 10 seconds) and then all is fine.
I'm rocking a stock (android 4.3) international simlock free unit.
Not rooted, no s-off, no nothing. Fresh out of the box.
Im still having this same problem on my HTC one X running ViperX 4.07. Has anyone found a solution yet?
I've recently experienced a similar issue when casting from the GP Music app to my Sonos speakers. When trying to adjust the volume from within the GP Music app, it causes the phone to reboot. I have an HTC One still running 4.3 (my carrier in the UK dragging their feet a bit!). I was wondering (hoping) whether this is still an issue with 4.4?
Well I got an ota update a few weeks back. Installed it and had issues with my tablet doing reboots all by its self. It would just shut down and restart and so on until I caught it and turned it off my self. Also some of my apps started freezing. Plus has some touch issues. Well got another update yesterday and now the tablet is pretty much useless. 90% of the screen touch doesn't work. I had reset it twice and its still the same. Now if you try to touch say the chrome app feom the home screen it doesn't register. Though if I open my apps and click on chrome there it works. So chrome is now open. Nothing on the screen works but if I open the recent apps the touch works perfectly there but I close the recent apps and again screen is unresponsive. Its also random. Sometimes stuff works and others don't.
What do you guys think needs to be done to get this to work. Paid $500 for this tablet 6 months ago so this one hurts a little not working.
Do you all know if the warranty is valid since I bought an international version

Warranty should be valid if you bought it in the same country, They sell international versions in major retail outlets like walmart / amazon so I'm sure its fine,
btw have you tried doing a factory reset under settings? (this will erase all your apps and settings but it should restore the tablet to stock condition, except it will retain all the OTA updates), I never suggest doing OTA updates as they can sometimes cause issues, even Samsung doesn't recommend it, I would suggest you update the tablet with KIES 3 (Samsung official software) or Odin
(for odin you can find the fimrware for your tablet here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ ) Odin is a little more advanced the kies 3 but its what I always use to update, either one is fine.)
Did a factory reset and it didn't help. Will try update with kies and see if that works. Thank you for the suggestion. Hope it works
