Yellow spot on the screen - LG Optimus G (International)

Started something like a week ago (don't remember precisely). It's not that big (like 0.8cm) and is visible only when there is a light background (when you're browsing for example) it's not that bad but is really annoing considering that I've bought it 5 moths ago. I read of similar problems on nexus 4 (which has the same screen that we have) , on Htc One x , on Iphone 4 /4s and Sony's xperias as well. Someone says that the problems is the poor manufacturing process of the LCD display (principally the glue between the LCD screen and the gorilla glass). I think i'm going to take it to assistance only that it takes a lot here in Italy (like 30 days, not considering we're in august). So I was hoping for an advice. Wait and see if the spot goes away or take it directly to assistance?
Bye
an unlucky LGOG holder

Heat Haze On Most of Front Screen Anyone else seen this ?

I have a strange issue with my touch pro2 which i have never seen before on any of my previous phones i.e. TYTNII / Vario II etc,
If i hold the phone horizontal to the eye then i can see a kind of heat / rainbow haze covering the middle of the screen apart from about a 1cm clear part going all around to the edge. So basically the middle part. You can only see this in certain light or looking closely with the phone titled horizontally to the eye. I have taken the screen protector off to ensure it is not this reflecting and it is still there with this removed.
I cant see that this is normal, the phone only gets used for the normal stuff like internet sharing, calls, music streaming etc.
any help appreciated before i give mobile phones direct or HTC a call.
Thanks
noticed the same on mine mate, can't say it affected anything so wasnt really bothered with it.
I can only see it in artificial light but surely this cannot be right ?
it looks as though it has over heated or something.
Waiting on a call from Both HTC and Mobilephonesdirect see what they say.
I have attached a screen shot so everyone can see, pic taken with my trusty Kaiser.
This has had the screen cover from day one and never been near any water.
Any thoughts.
I´ve heard before of this behaivour
Here a Rapahel with sometinhg similar
Not sure what is really causing it
is that your phone ? are you getting it repaired ?
very weird problem..
Wow. That is wild. I have never seen such a thing. Good luck with that.
I have seen similar in the past but only on my tytn which I replaced the screen on,
it did disappear after a few days of it being there tho,
if you still have your screen protector on have you tried removing it?
orb3000, could you edit your image and make it a little smaller? it took over the screen lol
Cheers Steve
I had this with my axim 50v. It was caused by pressure on the touchscreen, in my case caused by the belt pouch i kept it in. It didn't do any damage and cleared up if the device was left for a while without anything pressing onto the screen.
If u keep the phone in ur pocket then try carrying it screen side out (ie, not towards ur body)
it looks as though there is some sort of air or moisture between the outer screen and the inner as if i press on a corner i can see the haze move. So looks as though somehow it has come off of something if that makes sense....
have now emailed HTC and will see what they come back with, left a voice mail and emailed mobilephonesdirect and heard nothing from them. Shame really as thought they were a good company. Always the same though good at taking the money never good at supporting, so true for a lot companies these days.
Thanks
to me it really just looks like excessive area pressure over time, displacing the goo in the touchscreen. (at least i think there is goo in them seperating the sensing layers)
not been pressed against anything only in the belt clip it comes with. never had any of this with my previous phones and my kaiser is still ok 2 years after buying it. Seems a bit of a design flaw.
I had this problem with my Kaiser. Must be someting to do with the touch layer. Never fixed it as it was not a problem under normal light and when u see the phone in a normal angle. (Not to diss your problem report hehe)
It can really stand out in certain conditions, I will see what HTC say as I have emailed them the picture. Its and expensive item which something like this should not happen.
when you press the corner of the screen the haze/rainbow effect moves so it is definately something that has come away but underneath a few layers.
When i get a response i will post it here as maybe of use to others.
HTC's official response, this phone like my TYTnII has only been used in the belt clip and yet apparently this is my fault due to much pressure!?! Which of course is utter rubbish.

Thank you for contacting HTC Technical support Centre.
The device needs to be examined under our Engineers to determine whether it'll be treated as IW or OOW case. But from our experience, we can tell that it's Newton ring which is OOW case. You'll be receiving an email from the RC to tell you how much it costs to get repaired. You can choose whether to pay or to reject the quotation and if you reject it you'll only pay for the diagnostic fees and the courier and both takes up to 15 pounds.
In case you needed any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact is on our Hotline, < 0845 890 0079 >, or visit our Website, < www.htc.com >.

After sending my phone back to HTC they have repaired this within the warranty so free of charge, in fact they have sent me a new phone i think as all imei numbers have changed and rom is newer.
There was obviously something wrong with the phone for it to go like it did.
Awe, shoot. I was hoping the Touch Pro 2 to not have this problem. It is called the newton ring and virtually every HTC device gets this problem. It is INDEED a problem, and it even voids your warranty at time.
Newton Ring?
Are you saying that it does VOID your warranty. Mine started doing this and quickly has now covered all the screen but the edge all the way around. I am going to call repair center tomorrow and find out for sure.
I will post their response to my call.
HTC did replace the phone, in fact the one they sent out done the same thing within 4 weeks so i sent this one back as well. They repaired this one also, although they just replaced the screen this time. At present a few months down the line i have not had the newton ring back.
I wont be buying another HTC phone now based on the awful problems I have had with this TP2, i am now on my 3rd. I have had HTC phones for the past 6 years and never had an issue like this.
HTC have become very sloppy lately in quality when releasing phones. Hopefully this will change.
Argh. Mine just hit this 2 days ago. I've owned it since October.
It's almost a perfect rectangle with a 1cm border except for the bottom where it's maybe 2mm from the screen edge.
I'll be bringing it back to a Verizon store and hopefully they'll swap it out.

The repair, not really

Sent it off for repair because it had screen fitment problems out of the box (screen was loose but didn't ripple, no yellow spots), the casing was perfect and not damaged. When I got the device back from repair, screen was replaced and tightened, but it now ripples on normal touch, has 1 dead pixel, light bleed around the bezel (can be seen in the video, top part of the screen, also around capacitive touch buttons), yellow spot in lower right corner when the phone gets warm AND the casing was damaged in several places.
I'm sending this video to HTC and will demand either my money back or a new device, it is unlocked, but this cannot be caused by software, so they should accept the warranty. Video:
Did they tell you which repair center they sent it to?

My screen is like yours out of the box... They don't repair...

In my opinion this is the repair shop faults.
Either way this is unacceptable. Very sloppy work.
I am very curious how HTC will resolve this.
My last resort is to send my HOX or any other future devices back to their so called repair or service centers. Your major problems will be resolved but additional cosmetic problems will surface such as this gentleman's screen. My first and only experience is purchasing an EVO 3D gsm version from a local yahoo auctions seller in HK. I didnt want to nitpick but the screen had leaks of light when viewing in datkness and it wasnt aligned properly. So i thought what the heck..send it in for repair or servicing...got it back in a week with less light bleed but some of my capacitive lights werent lighting up completely. As if they never checked after other problems were resolved. I ended up selling it for a good 150 dollar loss since i am extremely picky with these screens. Just last week i got the HOX and the darn thing seems to be perfect from the factory but guess what..that small yellow spot pops up when the phone heys to 36 or 37 degrees... Much more annoying than a single dead pixel. I am having an EXCHANGE for another unit but i doubt they will be perfect. For some people stating they have no problems at all...they arent looking hard enough. There is always something imperfect with all the htc phones i have bought. Since the hd2. But whatever...their outter appearance are simply the best looking and i just couldnt pass it up.

@Tw1tchy I just know it was serviced by HTC Germany.
I think I'll get this one replaced, and when I get the replacement, I will just going to sell it and be done with this One X story, too much risk and I don't want to send my phone 1000 km from Croatia to Germany every time I find a problem.

or i'm just waiting JB to send it to repair again
Seriosly guys...what do you think they do with those opened ones? I guess they just sell it to those other not as picky as us customers eh? since they arent factory sealed like the Samsungs. I personally would never accept one that was opened up and fiddled around with. Just bad!

So, long story short.
I received my device which had screen flex and PUSHED the sevice senter to replace the LCD.
Got back the device today. The LCD Module (LCM) has been changed. But, they made some pinch on side of polycarbonate body, while replacing the LCD.
Also, the screen is more flexible in both left and right edges with loosely fixed screen on left center. Hope it becomes hard after some use and heat.
Just for information, i have replaced 3 devices and sent the fourth one to service center three times till now.
I have given up now & keeping the device. After owning HTC from HTC Hermes times, this is the first device i have seen this much quality control issues.
Earlier, I was confident enough to order HD2 and EVO3D from UK (Iam living in Dubai) when they release those.
Now, i lost that confidence with HTC. I still didn't unlock the device for the same reason. My first time with any HTC device without modding the ROM. HTC should be proud of themselves
I have light bleeding on my one x as well. Its quite annoying but you have to get used to it. I'm not risking sending my one away after I have already been without it for a month

Shattered Screen :(

Hey you guys.
I just wanted to say that after maybe a month of using the htc 8s smartphone, my screen broke. I wouldn't even say anything if I knew it was my fault, but I don't think I did anything wrong.
Let's start from saying that i use all my phones with care - I don't throw them, don't even put them to one pocket with keys, coins or whatever. But on the other hand I don't use screen protectors or protective cases. Doing all that I've never had trouble with none of my phones or any other devices. My previous phone - 2011 xperia mini pro still looks pretty after almost 2 years of usage; before that I've had htc desire which is kinda bulletproof because after using it for I think over 3 years now it has barely a few scratches and knocks. Also I'm using Blackberry (i know it's somewhat different from those smartphones listed before) as my secondary phone for some time and it's still in great shape.
Few weeks earlier time came to purchase new device because my contract with carrier was close to expire. Times are tough so I don't have so much money to spend on a phone and have never used a Windows Phone before so the htc 8s drew my attention. After few minutes of playing with it I sort of started to like that phone (it changed with time but it's not time to talk about that). I signed new contract and went back home with a brand new htc in my pocket. Of course - new phone so I took even more care of it. One day I was walking down the street and texting and someone was walking by me and knocked the 8s out of my hands. It landed on sidewalk with just one little knock on the corner, I don't think the screen even touched the ground. Some time after that unpleasant scene i put my 8s on the table (screen is fine), look away for few seconds, look back on the phone - the screen is broken... literately shattered. I was like 'HAHA... wait... what?' I just sat there for 5 minutes looking at it and still couldn't believe it happened.
Day after that I went to my carrier and explained the whole situation and the guy couldn't believe it too. But he sent my phone back to htc. Few days later they text me that repair is gonna cost me like $100. I said no way, i don't have that money on me. Htc delivered the phone back to carrier.
Right now I'm stuck with a broken phone. Of course it's still kind of usable but not comfortable to use. So my question to you guys is if anyone of you was in that situation or your phone broke in any similar way. Any advice will be good really.
Welcome to the club.Mine 8S also felt down and the touchscreen cracked.I am checking eBay every day and watching how to price goes down.Till now it`s 47$ for the full lcd with the digitizer.I am not sure if it will be the same quality as the original one but i don`t have another choices. My carrier asks 90$ for the repair and there are not such other repair services around that can replace the screen.
Hi Janko, just throw it into trash and get a Nokia. Mine got broken a week after purchase. It´s a crap anyway, looking good but worth sh*t. I had a Nokia WP before, and it was also much faster. With this HTC 8s, I saw a WP device lagging for the first time, experience is much different from Nokia.

Screen cracks/scratches ... ?

Hi xda,
I am observing something very strange on my phone, and since I dropped it last week, I observed a new occurrence.
So now I have 3 scratch-like scars on my display, but they are not on the surface, but down below, they are perfectly straight and seem to be on the exact border between the display and the frame.
Sadly, I could only make one picture, since my phone has the better camera.
Hi,
i have a similar scratch in my P6 similar of yours...I didn't notice right away, only looking the screen very closely...My scratch is at the left-top of the border, straight to it.
you too. has the same scratch. is under the glass. I wonder if the warranty replaces.
So, it's not just me.... When I have time I will go back to stock and then go to the operator and ask for opinion and/or replacement.
I went to my carrier but they refused to fix it under warranty. It was due to the use of the phone, and I'd be charged 200 euro for the complete screen replacement. Not that this phone worth more now a days. And sadly my scratches have gotten a little big longer

White light spot on screen between sim and sd slots on T325

EDIT: Someone please move this post to troubleshooting, this is between my first posts on this forum, sorry.
Hello,
I have an issue with my T325, I have a white light bleed spot that is visible only on white or light pages between the two slim slots (in the middle of the screen but a bit to left). They are not dead pixels, many cheap phones have such a brighter spot.
I bought the tablet brand new 5 months ago, I have warranty for one and a half more years but it takes half a month or more until they see, repair and return the device if I send it in. (I haven't paid for premium service)
The spot appeared about 3 months ago but I told myself that I will not change my otherwise perfect screen for a brighter 0.3cm white spot even if it's a little annoying sometimes ( I had already exchanged two tablets until I got one without dead pixels or dirt inside the screen). I haven't dropped, pushed the screen on that point or did anything that could have damaged it.
However, at the beginning of this month i wiped my screen with a cloth that had something very hard on it and I didn't see and managed to get a deep 1 cm scratch (I can actually hook my nail in it) exactly in the middle of my screen and I didn't have a screen protector (who needs one on a tablet ? ). I am thinking on convincing somehow the service to change the screen because of the light bleeding. The two issues are unrelated, there is only one scratch on the screen clearly from a swiping motion.
Does anyone have an idea on whether the screen is defective or there is some strain in that point ?
Did anyone have a similar issue and managed to solve it ? Should I try sending it in ?
