what about the hardware differences?
Clearly,Xperia T is superior than Acro S...but the T have some kinda 'washed off' screen based of users comparison...Acro S does have a great waterproof, but much older spec...

Well X Acro s has snapdragon s3 processor on the other hand XT has Snapdragon s4 plus, so definitely XT has better specs , both have 1 gb ram as well as 16 gb internal storage, but T has a 13 MP camera

Ill be very honest. I have a ion and my wife has a T. There are no speed differences at all. Actually i prefer the ion due to not having the on screen buttons. The T does have a better speaker tho, her music sounds really nice. Otherwise even tho the T has the better processer, there no different.
Dont even talk about benchmarks as they mean nothing in day to day use and how the phone feels.
Im not familiar with the acro s....but isnt it similiar to the ion in terms of specs?

And the camera is no better than the ion and the S. Mp dont mean anything.
In fact some of my test shots showed the ion was better while other shots the t was better.
But neither proved enough difference for it to matter.

I'm have been looking around for a new phone to replace my Samsung Galaxy Ace and came down to these two phones i.e. Xperia S amd Xperia Ion and I'm really torn. I can't make up my mind at all.
As you all are users already, I would like to get some insight into these two phones, the things I'm looking into are :
1)Developer community support (custom roms and stuff).
2) Battery life under moderately heavy usage(I won't mind charging once or twice daily)
3) Screen- contrasts, blacks, whites
4) I think the Camera is basically the same? Right?
5) All the reviews I've read have complained about the capacitive keys on both of them. How is it in reality? Is there a learning curve to it?
Any input would be highly appreciated. No trolls please.
Thanks.

I think all ions are locked bootloader so therefore the development is limited

1)Development of XS is more than ion
2)ion's battery is bigger than XS , it must charging once a day if you use an android phone.
About screen and camera, i have not used ion, i dont know
the capacitive keys......i only want to say it's not hard to use

Yes, I think ARNOB is right. It can be unlocked I think.
ARNOB, how's the Ion?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
At&t ions cant be bootloader unlocked, the rest can.
Ion has bigger screen and sd card support. Developer comunity is a lot bigger for xperia s. Capacitive buttons work fine on the ion(on mine i need only one press). Personally i was going to go for an S but choose the ion instead.

Well, I've used a galaxy ace as well as both Xperia S and Xperia Ion. So here's my conclusive answer.
1. The community is very big for the Xperia S but in terms of mods and everything, ion is no way left behind.
2. Xperia Ion HSPA has a better battery imo compared to the LTE variant(due to 4G) and Xperia S.
3. Xperia S is said to have a larger dpi resulting a sharper display though I couldn't really feel the difference. While the Xperia Ion has deeper blacks, larger screen.
4. Camera is fully identical.
5. The capacitive buttons for both have no issues. But you might need a week to get used to it as its quite different from Samsung.
Hope it helps

Hi Team,
I've broken my HTC One X and am considering purchasing a Sony Xperia SL. I understand that it is no longer a top of the line device, however all of the new phones that are are 4.7"+ which is too large IMO. It seems that the S has a fairly active dev team, though I'm not so keen on flashing new roms so often these days (have been using the same rom on my HTC One X for about a year). Having said all that; are there daily driver ROMs available for the SL that I can stick with for an extended period &/or how does the update roadmap for the device look; is JB likely the final update etc.
Thanks in advance,
Try Xperia sp or zr

Thanks, I'd probably consider the zr over the sp but both of these handsets are still probably a bit too big, and they don't really have the 'premium' look.
Xperia v and HTC one mini are 4.3 inch so same size as Xperia s

I would recommend Xperia V but not SP (the 0.2 Ghz difference doesn't make so much difference, u can overclock if u plan to unlock bl and modify the phone with flashtool. The camera on XV is much better too)
Xperia V is even cheaper than Xperia S/SL in Hong Kong now (where i live)
The only thing that make V weaker is the 0.3mp front camera, while XS/SL got 1.3mp (SP seems got 0.3mp too, not sure)
Even XSL got 1.7Ghz cpu, the XV will be still much faster becoz the CPU on XV is snapdragon s4 but the CPU on XS is snapdragon s3
(s3 actually isn't that bad, it is just supposed to be a bit slower. but s3 actually overheat so much which will make it very laggy, s4 is much cooler)
but if u got money, XZ/XZR ofcoz
Xperia SL - a good choice
IMO xperia SL is a good choice considering the specs it has got that still many latest phones lack behind easily...
12mp camera, very nice screen and screen quality, hdmi port, 32gb inbuilt memory to list a few...
plus speaking of the developer support it has got a great developer support...
already got JB 4.3
Please give me a link for xperia sl jb 4.3 rom download

I recommend you to buy the Xperia S. Because of the better battery life and developer support.
Nothing wrong with a Ion. I really like mine. There are some bugs in JB but nothing you cant get around. A unlocked version would be best.

Of course the ZL!
Better cpu and RAM. I don't want to work with less then 2 GB of RAM anymore.
In my opinion better and well thought design.
Just the front camera on the bottom really sucks!
Hi guys. First of all I'd like to apologise if I've posted in the wrong section. This section seemed more relevant to me.

Z1 compact is good. Not as big as other Z series phones yet has all of their qualities.
Go for Z2 without a hesitation.. U won't regret it.. Z2 has amazing Camera, Display and most imp'ly Audio is highly improved from older Xperia's.. Battery life will be good enough with KK.. :good:
if you want a big screen above 5 inch then go forma z2 , if you want less than 5 inch z1 compact more than good one

Since ZL2 is only for Japan, and btw Z2 too has 3GB RAM..
And, dude all the processors from Qualcomm since Snapdragon S3 are 64-bit capable.. But none of these devices got those drivers to support 64-bit capability.. Since Qualcomm itself are providing those drivers, they are using the marketing strategy to bring new processors with the name 64-bit processor.. U can pull the actual h/w info from the CPU itself.. (cat /proc/cpuinfo).. Try and see for yourself... You will see 46 or 64.. People are blinded by this.. :silly:

If you don't have infinite stacks of money laying around, I seriously recommend you look at the Sony Xperia Z1.
The Z2 doesn't offer all that much more practicality than the Z1, and as I bought the Z1 just before the Z2 was released I don't regret my choice at all. It's super fast, has a great camera (essentially the same as the Z2 now that it has KitKat) and if I could choose a device again now, I'd still go for the Z1 over the Z2 for its pricetag.
Compared with the Xperia S, I even made a (surprisingly unpopular) video of it with annotations, where you can see the two devices side-by-side. If you want, you could check it out here:
http://youtu.be/IN1URlNHVWE
I'd appreciate any extra view on that video anyway
Hi Herman thank you for your opinion. See why I'm thinking z2 is because 1) its free on my upgrade and 2) its a slight improvement over the z1 but I was thinking if not z2 which other phone could I choose

If it's (as good as) free and you couldn't pick a cheaper contract with the Z1, then obviously the Z2 is the better choice
My point was that off-contract it's so much cheaper than it's much of an improvement, so like I said if cash isn't an issue then it's still a great device over the Z1 (and definitely so over the Xperia S, you won't regret it)!
