Root Xperia S (6.1.A.2.55)

Hello,
I'm one of those lucky guys who got the 2.55 build number.
Wandered around the forum for some time, seeking for a way to root my phone, but don't want to risk before being 99% sure that this may work.
As I understood, Bin4ry's method won't work with my phone, which results in need of unlocking the bootloader.
I checked its status and it shows that its Unlockable = Yes.
Now, let's say I unlock the bootloader, what should I do next? Flash a prerooted ROM?
All I could've found on forums was "UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER" and "BIN4RY'S METHOD" stuff. Maybe because people were posting about this 2.55 thing alot. Maybe not.
All I need is a n00b friendly tutorial.
Btw, I'm on 4.0.4 ICS, which is pretty obvious.
Thank you, in advance.

Unlock your bootloader and just flash an auto rooting kernel.
But if you're unlocking the bootloader you may as well flash a Jellybean rom anyway

Hi, I hope the OP doesn't mind, but I'm kinda in the same situation and I need some help from you guys, because I am currently a Samsung owner (please don't throw rocks ) and I don't really know much about flashing ROM's on Sony.
So... I have with me my brother-in-law's Xperia S with 6.1.A.0.453 (ICS 4.0.4), never been tampered with, just bought, updated to ICS and rooted with Bin4ry's method.
All great, but I was hoping to flash 6.1.A.2.55, because I heard it is the latest.
But now the hard part comes, the phone has Locked Bootloader and I can't unlock it because "Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status > Bootloader unlock allowed" says NO.
That being said, if I flash the .55, how do I root it?
I updated and rooted an Xperia U a while back, using a method of changing the kernels, something like this:
Flashing the ROM I want (the one that can't be rooted)
Flashing an older kernel from a stock Rom witch was rootable
Root it
Flash the kernel of the last ROM, and root remains.
Do you guys thing that this method will work on Xperia S?
Flashing .55
Flashing an old kernel (from 6.1.A.2.45 or other that can be rooted)
Root it
Flashing the kernel of .55 again, and hoping that the Root remains.
Also, where could I find those kernels?

How to install pre-rooted Jelly Bean 4.1.2 from doomLord on Xperia S

I have recently flashed my Xperia S to a Global official release of Jelly bean 4.1.2 using flash tool.
However, there is one software much needed for me, called "proxyDroid".
The wifi Network in my campus is proxy protected and this app is necessary to allow all apps to use general proxy settings.
However, this app wants my phone to be rooted before installing it.
i googled about "How to root Xperia S with JB 4.1.2" and found doomLord's page with prerooted version of JB,
But the instructions were too complex for a first timer like me.
Here's the page:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302631
Kindly simplify it for me, or please let me know if there's a simpler way to root my phone. I do not want to brick my phone so I am not taking any chance on things I don't understand.
Please, provide necessary guidance.

What is exactly rooting of phone? Do I void my warranty if I root my phone? If yes, can I un-root it to restore warranty later?
Is there chance of bricking the phone?
In your tutorial your first lines are,
Root jb for locked bootloader
Sooo many people just asking the same question. Its simple!
(this is currently the only way for LB)
You need ics installed, rooted with cwm

Unlocking bootloader on my phone is allowed. Do I still need to follow the same tutorial?
What is LB? (locked bootloader?)
I don't have ics installed, I have official JB 4.1.2. What is cwm? How I root with it?
I have this idea
Can I still factory format to stock OS from settings?
I can follow doomLord's guide here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302631 if yes.
Also, what does he mean by "make sure that the /system partition is unmounted, i have noticed that in some kernels the /system partition remains mounted"? How do I check it?
Also how do I reboot my device in recovery mode?
Thanks
All of those. Either Google or Search here.

I understand that I might be asking too much. But I have flashed my phone recently. Just tell me if doing factory reset is safe for me or not? I'll take it up from there.

All the steps in the DooMLoRD pre-rooted ROM thread are safe if you follow them. I know because I followed them and my phone is fine, dandy and, best of all, rooted.
Thanks

But, I already have generic JB 4.1.2. i just want to root it, should I still go for it?
Also, what doomLord he mean by "make sure that the /system partition is unmounted, i have noticed that in some kernels the /system partition remains mounted"? How do I check it?
I am posting here because I still have less than 10 posts. :/
Why do you give him root way with unblocking BL? Are you crazy? To author of questions : DO NOT OPEN BL! You are to amateur to do that. Root isn't void your guaranty. Check out posts how to flash ICS again, and then install JB PREROOTed

[Q] Update Android from 4.1.2

Hello my friends.
I'm the owner of the Xperia S with awful interface. I know that Sony not going to release the next update of firmware, so I have a question for you. I'd like to have Android 4.4.2 or although 4.3.
I know that i have to Unlock Bootloader that I have to flash my device but unfortunately i have this option locked (attachment). My question is: is there any way to update my Android without bricking my phone?
I will be grateful for any help
No. You're stuck with Sony's 4.1.2, or maybe CM9, of you want.

There is a old Cyanogenmod ROM for locked bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593806
Read carefully, I didn't test it and of course there is always a chance to brick your Phone!
Thank you so much for this link. But i don't understand how I can flash it to my phone. Can someone explain this for me in step by step guide?
I used to flash phone once long time ago my SE k800i and it was a way easier than this, just connect phone and overwrite 2files. This process is more complicated and I could use some help.

Sorry i have unlocked bootloader, so I can just take a look for you...
I thought you could just flash it via Recovery (like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvD6ZCENlJA with the option apply update from external storage or so...)
If that is not working you can try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476341
There is a guide on post #2
One possible way to root your Phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417672
One possible Recovery for your Phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308493
Just search for DooMLoRD
Thank you for helping me.
I decided to use first option - install it via Recovery. But there is a problem - Xperia S doesn't have pre-installed recovery. So If I want to do this I need to install custom recovery. But I need root my phone to do this. I could use Doomlord method but it is only for 6.2.B.1.96 firmware, unfortunately I have 6.2.B.0.200.
I know the steps that I have to do:
1. Root my phone.
2. Install custom recovery
3. Flash ROM via Recovery.
But I can't root my phone because of firmware. What now?
@edit:
I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473
It was tested on Xperia S (LT26i) {FW: 6.2.B.0.200} [v16 onwards] and it "WILL WORK on both LOCKED & UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER".
Is it right solution for my problem?

Towel root. Rooting won't erase anything from your phone
Towel works great but not if you've already upgraded to 4.4.4.
i upgraded to android 4.4.4 and i want to root my phone

Is your bootloaded locked, or unlocked? For LOCKED bootloader, I used the following procedure multiple times with no problems (I don't see why it wouldn't work for unlocked bootloader, but I haven't tried it):
1. Flash .230 kernel using FlashTool (basically, you are temporarily downgrading your kernel).
2. Root your phone using newroot.
3. Flash either .283 or .292 kernel (whichever 4.4.4 build you are on) using FlashTool.
4. (optional) Flash a custom recovery (I use XZDualRecovery by [NUT]
You will need kernels to flash in steps #1 and #3 - either search for FTF files to download, or create FTFs yourself using XperiFirm checker/downloaded and FlashTool. The procedure for creating FTF is described in XperiFirm thread.
There may be other ways; I am only telling you what I tried myself, and know 100% that it works...

The way I understand it, the method I described should also work for unlocked BL.
Of course, you don't need to flash a new ROM -- just a kernel. That's exactly what I said... First, downgrade your existing kernel for rooting, and then, after the rooting is done, flash the proper kernel back.
I wanna root my phone , with locked bl. May I know which website to follow??
