Interesting APN - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Or maybe its not interesting at all. I deleted fast.T-Mobile.com and switched over to epic.T-Mobile.com.
Wouldn't pick up anything. Had to switch back and just turn off the lte radio.
Not sure if it means anything when they stop using an APN?

It's cause you had a typo in the proxy. It's epc.tmobile.com (no "i" and no dash after "T")
FWIW, it's still up and running.

I didn't type it in. It was already entered.
Only fast.tmobile.com works here

Just Spelt it wrong trying to explain it

I actually get better speeds using the epc one. There is no lte in my area so maybe that's why.

I experience the same here with LTE being available. I just get faster speeds and better signal with HSPA+ so I use the epc one also.

[Q] LTE speeds on Cyanogenmod 10

I have a Rogers Galaxy S3 and I installed the latest CyanogenMod 10 and I'm just wondering if it is possible to get LTE speeds on my device because everytime I switch the network settings under LTE I lose data connection besides that everything is perfect and I can get HSPA+ speed, wich is ok but not what I'm paying for and I would love to get those speeds back.

What do typical LTE speeds look like? (I never had data until I got my S3)
I have a Telus SGS3 running CM10 M1. At the moment I got 25mbps down and 18mbps up with the speedtest app. My signal indicator says 4g and the speedtest app says my connection is LTE.

I'm with rogers too. We'll my phone is. Anyhoo in order to get lte speeds with cm10 or aokp for that matter you have to put in that code looks like *#*#3896#*#* I'm not sure about the number though look around you'll find it, and then select lte, gsm. That's after putting in the right apn settings of course. Btw it'll work but it won't stick you'll have to do it again every time you restart your phone. Personally I can't be bothered that's why I stick with stock until they figure that out.

No need for all that. In latest CM10 all you have to do is change preferred network type to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, choose Rogers LTE apn and u get LTE speed. It will show 4G but if you do a speedtest you'll see the difference. And it sticks on reboot. In AOKP though it doesn't stick.

This should be stickied until cm10 fixes the issue. Every Canadian user flashing to cm10 has no lte by default. Thank you for fixing mine

Still No LTE (AT&T)
I live in an LTE area, receive it with stock rom, but only showing H+ for speed. I have validated that the mobile networks is set to LTE /GSM/WCDMA - not sure what I may be missing. I love CM10, but really wish I could get this figured out. On AT&T.
Anyone help out? Is there some information I could provide?

Looks like it is working now. I get 4G in the LTE area and H+ everywhere else. The data speeds are decent, so not going to worry about it.

Cm10 stable data issues

So I just got the S3 today and immediately got home and rooted and threw cm10 stable on it. Well its been stable minus the data issues in getting. Its switching between 3G and H+ until i try to use data it sticks to H+ but then doesn't work. Speed test times out and so does the play store. Then I have to keep retrying then finally it works? Its bugging me terribly as on the way hone when I was playing with it... none of these issues were present? Any ideas?

the switching between 3g and h+ (4g) is to save on battery live. even a stock nexus 4 does the same thing. the 4g modems that can handle 42mbs can drain tha battery. ther are ways to force h+ but it will drain your batt. if you want to fix search in the cm roms or any aosp rom thread.

Getting HSPA speeds on AT&T

Ive searched many threads but cant find an answer. I carrier unlocked my T Mobile Note 2 and use it with AT&T. I see many people have done this but those people get at least 3G speeds. Im getting Edge only speeds. I added the APN wap.cingular and tried the PTA one. PTA doesnt work and wap.cingular is how I get edge speeds. What can I do?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
You'll need to install an ATT compatible radio to get 3g. I don't even know if one exists, but I'd try googling something like "use T-Mobile note 2 on AT&T" or something like that.

That is not accurate.
I have a T889 that is unlocked. When I put my AT&T SIM card into it, I get 3G speeds comparable to my regular AT&T devices.
I didn't do any kind of modem flashing or other tweaks. I might have had to enter the proper APN settings, it's been sb while so I don't recall for sure, but I know for a fact that nothing else was needed.

The ROM I'm using (based off an international Note 2) seems to have AT&T APN settings built into it, but they seem similar to one's I've input manually when on the stock ROM.
I just shoved my AT&T SIM into the phone and confirmed HSPA+ service being received, although it's a pitiful 3 Mb/s around here. That's the same I got on my One X with the same SIM just before putting it in the Note 2 to get you these settings.
Here's some screenshots for you to coy the APN settings from.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
if you use dialer code *#*#4636#*#* .. can you access the pop-up menu? You can enable LTE/UMTS in this section...
Same Problem
I just went to AT&T to get a new micro sim, called cust service to change my imei ( though not the actual international one ) to make sure I'm on the right plan, but after testing the phone and PTA APNs I'm still only getting Edge speeds ..if anyone can help that would be great!

Ive been adding a few things ril related

ro.ril.hsxpa=5
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
And getting somewhat better performance though I'm not certain they are helping I don't have the energy to check if something else is setting them
Just add a new APN with epc.tmobile.com, the new APN (fast.t-mobile.com)on the 4.1.2 is the one making you get the slow speed.

the new APN is for the LTE network supposedly. Not sure if it will be only for LTE or if you'll be able to epc for LTE as well.
I'm in one of the LTE markets and keep flipping between stock and carbon rom. Tried cyanogen and have had the best luck.
I bought my note 2 at full retail for use on prepaid 70$ plan to see if I want to switch off my VZW unlimited data with 30$ hotspot.

TIP : " Slow Lte or no Lte avail"increase data Speeds below" Non Lte" WORKS!
This will dramatically increase the data, speed if you have poor lte signal or no Lte data available in your area.
This has also been done on many htc one devices
"Originally posted by mjybarr"
Over in htc one forum.
"I DONT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE FIND" IM JUST SHARING THIS WITH S4 FORUM.
I am sharing this with the s4 as it is relevant info for all
Note :you dont have to do this but for those yielding 8mb or slower i suggest.
Tmo has made fast.tmobile the default apn, which is the lte apn... so if lte is not available or poor in your area you probably will get 3g by default EVEN tho its a 4g icon it will yield 3g speeds, because 3g speeds can be anywhere from 1-3 mbps. You can add the hspa+ apn which will give u 8-15 mb dload speeds or more, it definitely has worked for me and many others.
Here's the settings From my Htc One, which will be same for s4 and any phone.
IMPORTANT* See the illustrations for reference.
You must add default, mms, supl
Under apn type for the new apn to stick.
If you dont it will revert back to fast.t mobile
You can leave it under lte/gsm/wcdma
Switch the apn protocol from Ipv4 to Ipv4/Ipv6
Then hit save and Run a Speed test
Good luck .
