Update Walkman 7.9.A.0.1 - Sony Xperia ZL

It came to Generic BR C6503 (running 423)...
Specially useful to users of "Music Unlimited" service (that can be disabled, either way).
I don't know if it is placebo effect, but the sound seems way richer.

Ya I just got the new update on c6502. The ui seems more gentle and smooth also. But about music ultimate, I can't see anything about it?
Sent from my C6502 using xda app-developers app

Only some countries hav that feature...shame sony not able to provide worldwide...buying such expensive phones...no music unlimited...wish nokia would make an android soon...
Sent from my C6502 using xda premium

I think Sony is willing to do it worldwide, but remember that Music Unlimited depends upon the negotiation (and contracts) between Sony and a great number of copyright holders. It's not always an easy task to do for all the countries around the world.

When I choose my songs by artist there is an image that looks like a placeholder. How can I add a picture for a band / artist?

Xperia 2.3.4 Update : What do you expect?

According rumours we have read previously, Sony Ericsson is going to throw another awesome update in Octomber. They already did good job on their 2.3.3 update and ported bugs and fixes from 2.3.4. Hats off to them!!
Now What do you still want them to include in next update? Any bugs left out unfixed?
Personally, I want Sony Ericsson to Include Twitter and Google+ (if possible) ingratiation. But it also shouldn't slow down the phone or contact book.
I wish Sony Ericsson would include an option to control ISO, (JEPG) compression, Color Combination (and effects like B&W/Sepia and Vivd), Panorama (beta?), Last.fm Scrobble support for default player (it's so sexy other than powerAMP), and of course gTalk video calling using rear camera too!
I really hope to link this to Sony Ericssons' Twitter accounts, fan pages and emails for their attention (by August).
Activism!!!!
i hope they do not integrate anything else... it would be better to remove this facebook-crap again
a simple app for people who want to use it would be enough.
but improved photo-features would be really nice!
i dun like the fb deep integration, some of the functions didnt work well with unlocked bootloader phone as the DRM is erased..
less bloatware, more stability and ram free..
i would like them to fix the wi-fi issue that didnt get fixed in the last update for starters!
Another thing that needs sorting is its incompatability with certain headphones. I spent alot of money on good headphones (Klipsch x10i) only to find thye wont work on Arc...comes up accessory not supported??
I know its not the headphones as my old Denon ach360's work fine and the Klipsch work fine on my ipod.

Mate, the iPhones and Nokias are wired differently. If you buy something that says iPhone compatible, then they won't work with SE phones.
And yes, this has been explained earlier.

I'm very curious about earphones that worked with arc. So today I dig up my old earphone and found three earphone. One from my old N82, this earphone include microphone, one from my iPod nano 5th gen, and an earphone Philips SHE 7850.
All of that earphone works with my arc even N82 microphone works too
I tried the ones from my friend's iPhone 4 and it said 'accessory not supported' :s

I'm using CM7 right now, does it make any different? some people say it's hardware things not software, next time I'll try this iPhone and nokia earphone when I use sony stock rom.
I'd love to see the update fix wi-fi stability. It's annoying to keep reconnecting when browsing.

To be honest i would rather let them fix EVERY issue they have on Xperia Arc, than removing Facebook integration.
If you want it removed find a way to root your phone in 2.3.4.
In 2.3.4 all known issues must be solved.
And if they could make TTS/Map/MtpApp and all those apps/services to stop unless they are needed,
it would have been awesome.. Killing apps/services every 2 min is so boring.

Liveview V.2 - ''SmartWatch''

Found this on youtube... Looks like next generation liveview or something

The original live view is 30 on amazon now
Sent from here to there.
I like this ...and waiting for release no idea how much it is
yes I think they removed the video... It was on SEitalian chanell and there was some livesound upgrade too but I can't find them anymore...
As far as I understand this is only a remote for your phone apps ,
such as
Messaging
Social network viewing
Answer /reject calls
Music controls
Camera controls
You can't
Make calls
Sent msg
Post on social networks
Store anything on it
Or use without a phone
That's why I think its too dear ,at 60 quid it would be worth a punt
Or
If it had its own storage 8-16gb for music etc so it could be a stand alone watch/mp3 player for running etc maybe a pedometer ,GPS track etc then I'd pay 150 to 200 no prob
But for me its got to little features for that money ,its a gimmick which would most like remain in my draw after 2 weeks
Its also not pretty enough to be anything but casual wear so it won't replace my current watch.
PS .this is only my opinions and thoughts on this .

For must of the stuff it does I'd just pull out my device and save 120 bucks for other stuff.

Oringinal LiveView now £15 on Play.com

SE Liveview is it any good?

I'm thinking of getting a SE Liveview. I want to know if it's any good as they're selling for about £20 on Play.com and to be fair it looks like a really cool accessory.
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
its just 13 quid by now. but my personal experience i am telling you not to buy. i have liveview for like 3.4 months but never used it cause you need to sacrifice the battery of your phone which is already a problem.
I love it but I would by the new version Sony made much more attractive works better called live watch or some thing
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
I personally think it doesn't affect battery life too much. It does lose connection sometimes, and that can be a pain. I think there is an app to get rid of that problem though. And the new watch is called SmartWatch I think.
It's a pity I don't have the £75 for the Sony Live watch. Tar for the opinions guys.

Got mine same day as my play. Doesn't affect battery that much afaik. Connection issues have been a problem. I just shelled out a buck for liveview manager in the store. Supposed to fix connection issues. Haven't fully tested it yet but I hope it works, I love mine. Especially great because I can't always feel vibration and I can when it's on my wrist.

Sadly yes - I bought one for 20€ at amazon a month ago. Since some people even mentioned good things about the device.
But continuous disconnects made it unuseable - since it refuses to do anything with broken connection it was not more then a little weight,...
Beside the range was really short - wich also broke the connection once the phone was 3m away - and the reconnect when in range again ALWAYS failed.
Ofc i tried to get the latest FW update (last from 01.2011),... even flashed different ROMs to be sure it not the Phone....
I sent it back.
Beside this I noticed - it really not more then a gimmic --- the useability is quite low.
I haven't used the new 'smart' watch/liveview but i still have my MBW-300 Bluetooth watch, and it was a great investment. Not as many features as the Liveview by far, but still looks much better and for basic notifications/music control its awesome!
does anyone know if this can be used with other media players like beyondpod or astro podcast player?
I know it works for the stock music player....but can it take control of other aforementioned apps!

I think it's a terrible idea. As I've stated numerous times: Why compromise the specs to fit on your wrist when you have a full-spec device in your pocket already? Make it remotely control the other device and FULLY integrate the functions!
All that does is make me have two Android "smart" devices I have to charge every night (actually, three because I also carry a tablet).
Allways dissconected

Best boring phone

I wanted to give windows another try so I got another, after a week with this phone is boring! Marketplace sucks, limited apps, no smart dailing, can't disable SMS notifications, the list goes on and on. (Damn you android you've spoiled me!)
Over is the best designed phone I've own thus far. I've fell in love with Zune desktop, but the player on the phone is so so, needs equalizing for better sound. Maybe I'll be Lumia 920 a try.

I like L900. My second WP after HTC Trophy. I am just surprised to know that your music needs equalizer to sound better ? I never have any issues. Smart Dialing is there, you pin the person to the start screen for quick access. The Marketplace has good amount of apps ( and good apps ). Don't know if L920 will make your experience any better if you have so many complains about the platform.

I totally agree with you...
I got my Lumia 900 while my Galaxy Note was on warranty repairs and just to see what was the deal with Windows Phone 7.5 (after many years since I last used Windows Mobile Professional) and at first it was a nice experience after using Android, but after 30 minutes I consumed the whole OS and found it very boring and lacking.
Yes, I think Android got us really spoiled...
Right now I'm just waiting for WP 7.8 just to check it out (I know, I'm not expecting much either), but I know I will sell this baby really soon!
If at least we could root it and modify it like the Lumia 800, then I might keep it. But since the AT&T Lumia 900 modding scene is pretty much defunct, i don't expect things to change for the good, so Craigslist is the way to go.
Cheers!
Rayan

Nvidia Shield Launching Tommorow - Is it the End of the XPlay?

Tommorow the Nvidia shield is going to be launched... :S, Anyone else in the XPlay community nervous that our play will die soon?
ARTICLE HERE:
http://www.androidauthority.com/pol...-launches-tomorrow-are-you-buying-one-250928/
:/
No it not a true console, it just streaming for 5 meters around in our house..
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
The shield; while interesting, has always looked like an awkward device without enough focus, direction or market manipulation to be truly successful.
This is just screaming "Archos Gamepad-level fail" and sounds like it's support may fall apart just as fast as Tegra Zone did. Xperia Play; on the other hand, flipped the switch on every reviewer that tried to bash it, and STILL has actually had it's rate of game development grow. Bashers that relied heavily on "It never got the PlayStation Suite, only has like 50 games and only records at 480p!" are eating a five-course meal of humiliation as we record in HD, bask in our hundreds of (high rating) games, and check in every Tuesday for PlayStation goodies like Sword of Rapier, Alien Breed and Chaos Rings.
To quote a rapper that I actually really hate: "I ain't worried 'bout nothin!"
Who knows though? Maybe ill be wrong, eat my own words and end up toting one. Judging by all the devices like Moga which are struggling to even get 10% of what the Xperia Play has...that's not likely.

I'm not worried either. Android games may be slowly outpacing our phone, but emulators are just getting faster. With ps1, n64, psp, and hopefully nds soon, our library of games is good enough that I could do without the play store.

True, but maby xda devs might change build.prop in most custom roms and stuffs to Xplay and might makes some tool to remap to xPlay Controls... so they might steal our precious games, well this is what im thinking... :/

Hmm i like your argument very much, also i agree with the Marketing as the xPlay had amazing marketing, like tv internet and everything, but like i said to Pizza_User, im sure this device might be bought by devs and im sure they will optimize it for more games via ripping of its identity to the xPlay and then they will remap some controls, so it will kinda be like the play i guess when devs kick in!, but it will never truely be like that,

Yes, The Emulator Library beats em all!,
I actually think this may be good for the Xperia Play - but first, let me explain why I think the Shield is shooting itself on the foot and not a threat whatsoever to the Xplay.
The reason why so many people carry a Xperia Play around is due to the fact that it is a full fledged cellphone - a pretty good looking, non-geektastic one to boot (unlike, say, the old tacophone Ngage that I had - oh how many jokes I had to endure like "why are you talking to your gameboy?").You can make calls, read your e-mails, check facebook, do some emergency browsing (I say emergency because the experience is admitedly subpar due to the screen), see your feeds, read books (with some squinting... but it is possible and I am close to finishing the Horus Heresy series on it alone), take pics and watch/record videos. Not only that, but you can also play games with the attached gamepad - and the choice here is tremendous. Emulation of almost everything up to PSP, not to mention many high profile android games support the Xplay AND run perfectly on it (with some OC in some cases).
The Xperia Play had a very big drawbacks when it was released - the price was prohibitive for what it was. Nowadays, though, you can get one for peanuts, so that isn't a problem anymore. The only real drawback is the dated hardware, but even that is somewhat alleviated by our great devs who keep milking it for the best possible performance. Just look at some PSP games running perfectl on it! I thought this was a pipe dream back when people were saying it would happen one day... It feels great to be wrong!
So why is the Shield a good thing to the Xperia Play? It will prompt more devs to look into adding physical key support to their games - and since they will do it for the Shield, I imagine going the extra mile to make it compatible with other famous gamepads makes sense (like MOGA and Xperia Play support).
So why is the Nvidia Shield doomed to fail? First, it is too expensive. Second, the streaming sounds like Onlive all over again. If you are at home, why would you play squinting at a small screen with downgraded graphics and possibly some input lag when you most likely have access to a beast gaming PC (let's face it - whoever buys this is a hardcore gamer) with a huge, good quality screen and potentially better controls (mouse + kb) within an arms reach? Third, it really doesnt have that many advantages over a phone like the S4 + an attached gamepad (and soon Samsung will release their 360 clone attachment for it) - makes more sense to buy such hardware for your already existing phone that you got for cheap on a contract (instead of paying for a redundant version of something you already have). Lastly, the hardware is stagnant, while phone tech evolves at a staggering pace, driving existing prices lower and promoting sales within a year of release.
I think this is going to be a very niche gadget for those who compulsively collect gaming hardware, and nothing beyond that. Other people will ask themselves "if we have to carry a second device with out phones, why not carry a 3DS, PSP or PSVita instead?" or "if I'm going to play at home, why not go for my consoles or expensive PC instead?".
As Apple and Google build in controller support at the API level on their respective next gen OSes, it will be easier for devs to include gamepad support without having to cater to each controller. Should be huge for portable gaming.
@Fenrir007 i completely agree with that. Alos if you look at the voting on the website it doesnt look to good for nvidia. Also the device looks like a controller and its pretty large and bulky. I would never want to carry something like that around. I think id be embarassed to pull it out. Now the play is more portable, a phone, and looks a lot better. If it had a slim design and nice look they would probably get more sales even if the controller is more comfortable to hold
After reading thru ur post 3 times I have to agree, I never thought of it in the positive way!
Thanx alot man, bumped my day up!

I'm on Sprint so the Xperia Play was always a second device for me to carry around. I bought a Shield and am happy with it. If I was on a carrier and used the Play as a phone I would have stuck with it. I can totally understand why the Shield might fail and I even know that going in. However, I bought it mainly to emulate older games and have them be portable and for that purpose it is a better device for me due to the nice screen, powerful hardware and much more comfortable controls.
Your opinion is valid,
