thank you in advance

Since you already have a few answers for apps to try out, let me offer the knowledge that the S3 MHL adapter works with the Note 2, I use it all the time.

The app for a flashlight is called flashlight. Search for it in the market

My main flashlight has been Tesla LED, but it seems to have a a 3 second or so wait between pressing the torch and the light coming on. Hopefully they will patch it up soon and it will be a great torch app on the Nexus Prime.

I use :

works great.
Hi,
does USB Jig for Galaxy S/Galaxy S2 work on Nexus?
I tried a load of flash light apps, all which seemed to have taken forever from when you press the switch to when the light went on.
Apart from 1 app called "search light" https://market.android.com/details?id=com.scottmain.android.searchlight . The flash turns on instantly, and you can have the screen show you what the camera sees, which is very useful when looking for things in the dark!
I can't recommend search light enough!
I agree with darkgruff , tiny works great and just added shake to turn on in the lock screen

I don't know if you are rooted or not but AOKP's roms have a torch built in and you can enabled it as a toggle in the notification bar. Works perfectly.

just forget it, read again what i wrote, and its plain dumb, you're with your screen off ... bleh
Awesome idea! my phone overheats, so this will be great thanks!
Just what is was looking for...
Will try it later when using the MHL
Thanks

Love it great idea !
is it possible to assign a shortcut button or have it as a notification for easier in app access ?
Working great so far
You could always place a widget of the app to access it quick from home launcher. If I implement permanent notification, it requires a service to be kept running -> battery problem. However if you want, then I could implement a notification toggle that let you turn on the screen without the need of putting the phone to sleep and wake it up.
Please share any other ideas if you have

The best thing I have found so far is an app called Screen Filter (turns the brightness to almost 0%). For me it works best to set a homescreen widget so you can access it when the screen is unreadable.

To any one who want me to port this app to their devices, please note that I don't have the device myself (I only have Nexus S / Moto Xoom and the HOX International). So please PM me, so I can give you instruction on how you can help me port this app.

What do you think will be the next update for the GNII to improve it to be more like a tablet? Any ideas?
Swyped by Me & My GNII
I was wondering the same thing, but to be totally honest with you, it's already like too perfect. I really don't know anything else that can be done to it to make it any better except maybe, being able to use the voice feature on it without being connected to the Internet? Just my 2 cents.

Being able to designate which apps are by default started in full-phone or full-tablet UI mode would be great.

I really doubt they will enable tablet mode, they have tablets for that. That and for most people the screen is still to small from the tablet UI. heck even the Nexus 7 runs the same UI as the Note 2 does

Paranoid android and king kang had roms that would run specific apps in tablet mode on my old epic 4g touch. It would be great to see our phones added to their development......

I don't know, I think the whole phablet thing had many hesitant about this phone. I sincerely hope you're right though. I love CM10, PA, and other similar ROMS but they take so much time to get fully functional. I just hope there is Dev out there who will jump in and take it on for our Sprint variant.
the note II is anything but perfect. I have a lot of "gripes" with it.
first 320dpi. seriously? is that a joke I could not root it fast enough to get it going at 240dpi. Ahhh so much better
burst mode is borked. the huge delay built into the implimentation on the Note II renders is useless. as a temp fix use best shot its instant but only 8 shots.
on my S3 I can assign my favorite upload method (imgur for pictures youtube for video) as defaults. just tap the imgur or youtube icon and its going
this is GONE in the NOTE II I have to tap share and scroll to my selections EVERY TIME. very annoying once you got used to the S3 way.
toggles are gone. so I can't turn off mobile data etc.. on the Note II easily from the pull down like I can on the S3.

There is a setting fror this in advanced galaxy s settings
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
I've done this before on my Galaxy S3 using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782155
I was going to try doing it with my Galaxy S4 this morning, and the "ContextAwareService" isn't in the list anymore! Instead, there is "ContextProvider". I have looked around the files inside of there, but nothing looked like the steps in the thread I just mentioned.
If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know how you did it.
Thanks in advance.
I recently bought an S 4 and was wondering the same thing. Anyone figure this out yet?

That worked, thanks. Has that disabled anything else you noticed too?
Page buddy also brings up recommended shortcuts in the notification panel when the earphones are connected, when the phone is docked, or when the phone is roaming.
You won't have any of these three contextual notifications anymore, but I'm personally okay with that since I prefer a stock experience
