i just got my phone but rapidly using the internal ram. i can't seem to access the sd card/external memory. it looks like it is in properly. I can't get to it from a files manager app either and in settings the mount/erase buttons are grayed out. Any suggestions?

OK...so I download some huge file games and have lots of pics and music etc...I had to clear about 800mb to finalize my Nova 2 install. Now I'm out of space.
My question is...the next time I download and it says there is not enough space...what else can I do? I have an external SD card..but it's not putting files on that one instead.
Ideas?

Move them to the external?

this is my solution to the 2GB size problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343187
Well its not the internal 2gb mem.. its the internal 16gb that's running out... it won't let me download directly to the external.. keeps saying I don't have enough room on my USB SD.. and I have an external 16gb with about 5gb ready to use

then is even easier
just free up space on the internal SD and move it to your external SD
or you can mount the /sdcard/DOWNLOAD into /sdcard/external_sd/DOWNLOAD for stuff to download to your external SD instead of the internal SD
use the Gameloft reference, instead of that do it for download folder
Can you share that script?

Okay I have owned a few android phones and I've never noticed more then two different storage internal and external.
On the e4gt I have system,USB and SD card.
What exactly is saved on USB, system and SD card what's the defferences?
Is there a way to access and manage them?
I have noticed that switching SD cards does not make transfer everything from on SD to the next as it has in the past with the epic 4g and htc hero.
Please someone could I'm not having low memory problems just a little confused thank you.

you have USB (16 gb minus the system partition) which is essentially a SD card in the phone. Much like a ipod touch has internal storage.
You have SD card which is what ever SD card you have put in the phone
Internal as far as I have seen is a partition of the SD memory. It is used for your ROM and the 1.5 GB of app storage. this is not accessable without root.
I have never owned your previous phone but I doubt it even transferred data from one SD card to another with out you manually copying to phone and back to SD card? Or you just saved to the phones memory.
The top two memories are almost identical in purpose other than one is removable and one is not.
Okay thank you. And how can I access them? Well I know how to acces the SD card and internal for applications. But the USB...is it only accessible after rooting? Haven't rooted his phone yet.

In a file manger like astro. The internal one will be mnt/sdcard...the one you add would be mnt/sdcard/external_sd..

Sorry to bother you guys once again. But I'm still having some issues with my.phone storage. I can't figure out why everything is installing onto my USB storage instead of my SD card.
I don't really know how to exactly explain it. So what I did was take a screenshot of before and after, to try to show you what I mean...
This first screenshot is taken of an app I have. I went to my.task manager then to the downloads tab, and I chose an app that said it was "installed on device".. & this is what it says:
*(look at 1st picture)*
Ok.. So I click.on the "move to SD card" button, hoping to move it to the card.. I wait a few, then this next picture, is what it says after:
*(look at 2nd picture)*
I thought it was supposed to move it to SD card, but if you look at the numbers, there is still nothing on the SD card..
Why is this happening.. & how can I fix it, so it actually moves to the card? I'm running out of space on my USB storage..
Please help. Thanks guys
So, anyone have any.ideas.on how to fix my.storage issue?? Any.suggestions?? My.USB storage is almost full & my card is basically.empty.. I need to figure out what the problem is... I would appreciate any help at all. Thanks guys.

Are you on a stock ROM or on a JB leak?

When you go to settings > storage and press the menu button is there an option for storage location? If there is switch it from internal to external. USB storage(internal) is seen as an SD card so move to SD moves it to rhe internal SD which has mucb higher read write speeds than an external class 10. You can also swap you camera location to external and download location to external and use internal for all apps. Even if you swap locations you're going to be limited to one or the other you can't use both at once for apps2sd

I went to settings, storage, then pushed menu button, but nothing happens. No menu came up.
I want everything to basically go to my external SD card. Any other way to default to my card??

Is there a program that allows you to sync the folders on internal memory with the sd memory card?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda premium
What do you mean?
I dont know if this is the right direction you wanna go, but you could make a symlink from your internal sd to your external sd

The gs3 doesnt allow you to move apps to an, inserted, microsd card, so I would like to sync folders from the internal memory to an, inserted, microsd card.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda premium
Why not just use apps2sd? I personally dont know of any app that lets you sync between internal and external storage

Closed. Double post....
So when I go into the storage on my phone it says 4.5gb of pictures on the internal storage but I have a 64gb memory card and save them to the card. I know some programs like IG and fb will default to internal and I see those folders when I go to ES file explorer.
My problem is that there are only a handful of such photos and I can't figure out where these so called 4.5gb of photos are? Are they in a hidden directory or something? I'd like to clear up some of the storage on the phone as it tells me there's only 500mb available

When im full up I use an app called "drives".. I dont love its UI but it helps me find where the big hog files are...

Connect your phone to the pc and go into your internal storage and move content to a folder on your pc or the ext SD card.
It's faster and neater.
