What if I tried to use twrp recovery and now my phone refuses to activate. It says there is no sim card installed. I called sprint and they can't make it happen over the phone. They want me to come into the store, but i suspect that it isn't going to work their either. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!

I would really like to find out if any of you figured this out??
I find myself in the same position as I'm finding that many have on here as well. I found this thread interesting because it is dealing with the Sprint Galaxy in particular. I have hosed the radio and the baseband on the Galaxy - likely the EFS parition, not sure.. at this point. It needs to be made very clear to everyone that even has a thought of flashing with this phone to make triplicate backups of the EFS partition before they turn the phone on (exxageration for affect).
That being said - I don't think that gets the rest of us anywhere. I'm a OG owner and a Bionic owner - and the first 72 hours of Samsung ownership has felt like non-stop triage to me..
I have this here.. but this really isn't the specific image for the Sprint the phones...
The link below points to a post for the IMM761 GSM+HSPA - which I believe these phones to be identical.. and since Sprint had locked code for the CDMA versions - is this one the same - in other words, is there an image out there that can be downloaded, flashed, and from there we can we can either fix the EFS and restore IMEI folder and baseband function or at least call warranty?
At this point - I can't reset the counter on the phone, I can't take it to the store (as if the 7 iployees would know what I was talking about) and I'm not about to pay $800 to learn that the EFS partition is the "short" in the term "got you by the short hairs"..
androidforums -
Heat57 says:"
It sounds as so you are on the GSM "maguro" device. In that case I suggest you download the complete ICS 4.0.4 factory image from Google at ... file. Beware! if you have a Windows PC the original download with a .tgz extension will be renamed by Windows automatically to a .tar file, which means that you'll have problems extracting it. In that case simply rename the file by changing the extension to .tgz and all will be well. Note: you'll need the Galaxy Nexus bootloader unlocked in order to flash a factory image and at the end of the procedure you can leave it unlocked and flash a Superuser file to root, if so desired. You'll need the Android SDK installed on your PC and then copy the bootloader, radio and image .img files to your ...android-sdk\platform tools-tools folder and run the adb commands in the windows command shell (note: you must flash each image in this order and wait until each image is flashed completely >bootloader >radio > image). Finally, flash the "image-soju-imm76d.zip" through your cwm recovery. You should end up with a healthy Galaxy Nexus on ICS 4.0.4 and everything working"

I think you are right but I do have cwm Also when I followed techfanatic's vid to unroot it said my phone was unrooted but the radio failed error came up. Also I am still on codeandroid. can I actually be unrooted and still be on that? Must I root again? Thanks.
I'm new to the forums and I've been searching and reading all over for help. This was my first time rooting. I was trying to flash a rom in TWRP and somehow erased everything, no OS or anything. Now when I boot up it only says google. It won't load past that. I can get into the fastboot screen but the adb options don't work. And now since trying two different tool kits to flash to stock image, I can't get on TWRP anymore. Any help would be great thanks. I'm not even sure what I did but I can try to add more information. Thanks
You can boot in fastboot and flash it back to stock.
I see Google hasn't posted the factory images out there yet, your tablet is fixable, but you need the image. Maybe someone else can chime in with a image I haven't found yet. BTW, you can fastboot flash the recovery if its a .IMG file to get that back.
Note: you'll need the android SDK because you'll need the fastboot drivers and the fastboot.exe program to flash back.

Can you boot into fastboot mode by holding all three buttons for 5 seconds with the device off? It doesn't need a os or recovery just as long as you didn't kill the bootloader. Once in fastboot just flash it back to stock.
Download your image here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Don't freak out yet, its hard to brick a nexus device
Edit, I just saw you said you can get fastboot. Use the link I posted to download your image, if you need the android SDK because you'll need the fastboot drivers and the fastboot.exe program to flash back.

Obviously ADB would not work in fastboot. Erasing your ROM and recovery is no where near being bricked. You get into bootloader by holding Power + Volume down. Google has not released the official image package yet so flash the stock images from these -

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582
I'll try this all out in the morning. It's getting late here. Thank you and I'll be back to give you all an update!
You could even skip flashing the stock recovery and reflash TWRP. Rename it "recovery.img" put it in platform-tools... Then:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
TWRP should be flashed. Install a stock deodex or odex ROM and wipe data before install. Should be good.
But, everyone else's solutions will also work too (ie you are NOT bricked )

I think I'm having some problems trying to download things in the correct folders, seeing as I don't understand most of the lingo. I used a all in one tool to unlock the bootloader and root but when I tried putting things in the folder it wouldn't load properly. I deleted everything off of my pc and I'm going to redownload everything and try again.
Tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582 early this morning and it wouldn't load properly. I ran it and it said ?????? fastboot and then said some files were missing. Let me get back at it though.
You're just gonna have to own up and install the SDK. It only takes a few commands once it's downloaded.

All you need is fastboot.exe and the ADB files.
I really wish people would stop telling others to install the entire Android SDK, because it really is a waste of time.

+1 I didn't know somebody compiled that for the new N7. I was mostly trying to get this fellow to shy away from the toolkits - not that they're bad... But when they mess up, it's a headache to recover.

When I post on here I think its better to assume I'm posting to a noob rather assuming they know something they don't and making their situation more stressful. The SDK is a blanket install and you know everything is there. For someone inexperienced its better than: get this driver, and this one, and these files...move them here..you get the idea.

The guide on that thread should work really well, but I will just point out that for me, ADB wasn't working (yet) while I was still trying to flash TWRP on it, so the 'ADB reboot bootloader' line in the "Recovery_Nexus7.bat" was pointless. In my case, I go to the bootloader/fastboot mode by holding the power button + volume down.
Once in fastboot/bootloader mode, ensure that fastboot can see your N7 2013 by typing 'fastboot devices'. If you see your device there, you are good to proceed with flashing all the files that are in that zip file. It even roots your device. Good luck and let me know if you need any further help.

Well, Rule is log into from your administrator account and windows 8 will need manual drivers installation for your Nexus 7 (2013). Try downloading USB drivers from SDK.
I am also attaching fastboot drivers which I hope will work
Good luck

a rom is a modified software of android from a developer that you can install on your phone through a recovery, it's good that you can boot into recovery but, I'm not completely sure what's going on, the rom that is currently on your device could have a problem and not able to connect to mobile data. you could download a different rom and flash it onto your phone and see if that fixes it, there are plenty of amazing ones to choose from on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one/development even though you have the mobile data problem on your current rom i would still make a backup of your current rom to go back to incase anything happens when (if) you flash a different one

there are many videos online but its pretty easy, find a rom and gapps (if its included with the rom) then download those two to your sd card( make sure they are in .zip format) once downloaded boot into twrp and choose the backup icon and swipe to backup. when that's done you will press the wipe icon and perform a factory reset(you lose all data so make sure you have contacts synced to google) when its done wiping your data go back and install zip and locate the downloaded rom and choose that then if you downloaded the gapps(google apps) choose add more zips near the bottom and find that .zip. when you have everything you will then swipe to flash. when its done tap reboot and it will load your new rom.

Sounds like you're new to the world of modding which is perfectly fine because we all had to start somewhere. You want to familiarize yourself with the basics before you get too far over your head though. Here's a basic terminology guide that will help you right now: http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/05/the-dummys-guide-to-android-rooting-everything-you-need-to-know/
I don't know what the person before you did, but as santod has explained NuSense has perfectly working data. I'm using it now and have never had issue. It's my personal favorite rom, but there are many out there right now you should be trying out for yourself and forming your own conclusions. Almost everyone will have a different opinion on the "best rom" which is why it's a question you'll see avoided around here. Personally, I would start on a "stock" rom like the one offered here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319. That thread also includes very important instructions on how to update your firmware (for better radio performance among other things). Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions before doing something you're not sure of.
No operating system
accidently wiped everything clean the PC cannot recognize the device says I need a driver. I still have twrp but the backup was wiped on accident what do I do to fix it?
I think you'll have to push a rom from your computer to the phone using ADB and then flash it in recovery. I've never had to do that so hopefully someone can chime in with more details.
You need the adb debugging tools installed on your computer. Plus HTC drivers. Once you have those installed, you can try flashing a RUU. Here's 4.2.2 RUU http://www.htc1guru.com/2013/11/verizon-ruu-zip-1-10-605-10-posted/ . This tells you how to setup adb http://www.howtogeek.com/125769/how-to-install-and-use-abd-the-android-debug-bridge-utility/ . To flash the RUU, place the RUU in the same folder as your adb tools, and rename it RUU.zip. In the command prompt type, fastboot oem rebootRUU , then hit enter. Then type, fastboot flash zip RUU.zip ,then hit enter. Afterit finishes you'll have to type fastboot flash zip RUU.zip one more time . Then after about ten minutes it will finish and you'll type fastboot reboot-hboot. Then restart phone.

In order to update to the new OTA you need to go back to fully stock LCB43B image. That means flashing stock boot, recovery and system. BUT unfortunately there's a problem when trying to flash the stock system.img in bootloader. So you have to boot into TWRP, use adb push to get the system.img file onto your internal memory and then flash it using adb shell commands. Use this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63173308
Then reboot to bootloader and flash the stock recovery and boot files.
Next, download the OTA and reboot into stock recovery (not TWRP) in order to update using adb sideboard. Use the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65607393
Hit thanks if this has helped.

You should not be in recovery trying to fastboot flash. It will not work.
Latest SDK is fine on Windows 10. Make sure you use the fastboot and ADB from the latest SDK.

I've never flashed anything onto my watch, but yesterday after recharging the battery after it going dead, I get stuck at the 4 dots boot animation. I'm able to reboot the watch, and even get into the normal fastboot menu, but clearing cache, data, and resetting to default doesn't help. I'm really hoping what you guys are doing will fix the trick for me. I simply want to return the watch to stock, but I'm seeing conflicting reports on how to proceed with this.
I've downloaded the Android SDK, but have never used it before. I keep hearing things about adb, and flashing system.img using the latest fastboot - I don't know where to find either of these or how to use them. Would you awesome people mind doing a little hand holding with me and give me a bit of detail on how to proceed with the solution from C3C076?
EDIT: So I think I figured it out myself, albiet with the wisdom gained from you awesome folk. I used fastboot to push the 6.0.1 boot and system images from this thread, and things seem back to normal. I haven't rebooted the watch yet, since I didn't load the 6.0.1 recovery image (the only part of the watch that had worked since the problem started), and I'm not sure if I'm going to have the problem reoccur once it does reboot. If anyone has insight on how to best proceed given the steps I've taken so far, it'd be greatly appreciated.

If fastboot flashing boot and system images went well, you can safely reboot your watch. First boot might take a while but it should boot OK.

This DUDE RIGHT HERE. Did it. This was the missing piece. My fastboot files simply weren't good enough. x!!
Android SDK Platform Tools did the trick for me.
Hello everyone,
Since I'm facing difficulties connecting my Nexus 5X to my PC (believe me, I have tried nearly everything), I was wondering if it is possible to flash Magisk to my phone without the use of a PC. The bootloader is still unlocked because i've rooted my phone previously (when it still could connect to my PC). All the possibilities I ran into require either root or a PC.
I hope one of you guys knows a way how to handle this without losing all my data.
Thanks in advance!
Assuming you don't have a custom recovery installed either?? What's the "difficulty with trying to hook to a PC?
No, I don't have a custom recovery installed. There are more people facing this problem: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/help/unlock-bootloader-fastboot-detecting-t3236946/page4. Solution is not working for me for some reason.
To install magisk you need a custom recovery. And to install a custom recovery you need a pc.

I was afraid of that. Maybe i'll go with a factory reset then. Thanks tot the help anyways.

Not true, you just need a working adb connection with a computer. You can flash patched boot image with fastboot then

You're right. You can flash a boot image with fastboot. Is there a boot image that has magisk as party of it?
Well, I have installed Magisk Manager, and it gives me the option to patch a boot image-file. When I choose this option it askes me to select te original boot image-dump (.img or .img.tar). Since I'm no expert and I don't know where to find this and what this does, I'm afraid of losing my data or bricking my phone.

You would use the boot.img from the factory image that your rom is based on. Find your device below and download the 1 GB zip. Inside this zip is another zip you'll need to open to find the boot image (boot.img). Flashing boot images doesn't wipe internal storage, but it does remove root if you had it installed.
Factory images:

There's not really a collection of stock boot images besides what's included in the factory image.

Instead of downloading the entire ROM, you might find what you need here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/modified-boot-imgs-android-n-t3495169

As you aware that with the known and common pixel 2 xl issue which you can't get it connected to PC.
