1.) Try it out if you're curious.
2.) TWRP 2.6.0.0 is available for our device via their website.
3.) Typical way is using Odin and the BML CWM version.
Root method for FC09 is in post 2 of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006687 in case that didn't work for you.

I want to root my Epic 4G Touch, however, I don't know which one to choose.
I was going to use this method:
http://www.forums.acsyndicate.net/s...lus-Stock-Rooted-BusyBox-CWM5-and-Plus-Tweaks
But the links to download the tar file doesn't work.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Here you go sir.

Thanks for helping me out.
I went to the site, clickedthe link and got this page
http://chris41g.devphone.org/index.php?dir=EpicTouch/Stock+Repack/
I assume I'm suppose to download the tar file and flash it through Odin. After I do that, I go I I to revcovery and flash the SU zip that's listed on the page.
Is that correct?

I rooted my epic touch by doomlords easy root. No flashing or odin needed. I love stock but i wanted full control so i found doomlords exploit that worked. Google "doomlord root", there's and xda thread on it.

There any .zip flashables that i can root with to root. Cant find any

In order to flash custom roms you need a custom recovery and to get one you gotta flash it via Odin...
I think you're asking for an impossible lol

Sure, it's called SuperSUv0.96CWM.zip and is only flash-able from custom recovery (CWM/TWRP).
No matter how you slice it, you WILL need ODIN at one point or the other to root these Samsung phones. You have 2 methods:
Flash custom recovery via odin, then flash supersu.zip (Up's custom counter by 1) But can be erased with triangle away
Or
Flash the full rooted stock image via Odin (Will give you root, but no custom recovery. No added count on flash counter)
Oh ok. Just got the phone and dont have my laptop for another week, so it looks like im gonna have to wait for a littlebit

Don't you have friends or family?
You don't need ODIN to install TWRP recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809313
And after you install TWRP recovery, you can root with the zip file that you can d/l from the following thread:

From what I read from the link u need root permission to flash twrp so u have to root 1st. I dont think there is any around w/o odin. But I might be wrong

Yes, you are right. Goo Manager does need root permission. My bad.
There's no way I can think of to root without ODIN then.
Can't you use the adb method from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766552 then flash the superuser zip?
lol nvm
How do you install CWM after the JB update? After trying to root my phone after installing JB, I haven't been able to install CWM correctly. Do I need a new version of it, or something?
Search for team epic cwm in Google... Go there a follow instructions for gs3....

I currently have TWRP on my phone and would prefer to have CWM instead. Could someone please tell me how to properly go about doing that? So I don't mess anything up in the process.

Just find the correct version of CWM for your phone.
If the file is a .tar file, phone in download mode, use odin, file goes in PDA. If it's a .zip use TWRP to flash in recovery.

If u are on i317 just download rom manager from the play store. Install CWM from the app. Although idk y anyone would prefer cwm over twrp. Just my personal opinion though

Ive looked thru the forums i apologize if i missed it. Ive got a sprint samsung galaxy note 2 running 4.3 ive tried to root and install a custom recovery using the toolkit, but it doesnt seem to take the custom recovery. if anybody could please help me.
I haven't tried rooting since 4.1.2, but I used ToolKit to root and it installed a custom recovery. From there, I just flashed the recovery I preferred to use. Maybe be worth while try using ToolKit. I believe there is an option to just install new recovery.
Manualy flash recovery through odin

So i know ive gotta flash one of these but which one? Sprint Samsung galaxy note 2 4.3
which ever one you prefer first. I use TWRP. Some use Philz, which is based on TWRP. From what I've read, it may be good idea to go with Philz over TWRP when and after converting to Android 4.3; something about TWRP not backing up or restoring correctly. Obviously there is still ClockWorkMod (CWM). I can't attest to it because I haven't used it in over two years.
Odin doesn't work either.....I've been having the same problem. Been wanting to root my note 2 for some time now but to no avail.

try using odin3 v3.07 to flash philz 6.07.9 that works for me
