Hi all,
I have 747M that is rooted with CWM recovery, factory ROM 4.1.1.
Will I lose root/cwm if I allow the update to go through?
Thanks
Heeter
UPDATE: I just gave up on using the factory rom, and install CM10.1 nightly

What version of Android are you on? If you are on yakju IMM76I, you can flash this stock recovery.
Hello All,
My Galaxy Nexus "TAKJU" is rooted and unlocked in Android 4.1.2 version.
Baseband: I9250XXLF1
Build No: JZ054K
Now I remember that directly going for OTA during 4.1.2 had issues and I had to download the stock 4.1.2 and flash.
Is there any way - I can go ahead with the OTA of 4.2 without facing issues as earlier?
Any help is appreciated!
download a rooted stock rom, boot into your custom recovery of choice, createca nandroid backup in the recovery, wipe data/factory reset, flash the rooted rom that you downloaded, reboot. backup all that you want to backup first.

Root is fine, however any modifications to system apps(i.e deodexed) and/or build.prop = you need to go back to stock 4.1.2 other than that you should be fine
Wow! that was the thing.. had modified my build prop file. restored the original one from 4.1.2 and went ahead with OTA and in breeze, there it came up!
Thanks all!

Thanks but one question - doing a data wipe, does it clean /sdcard/ directory contents as well? I guess the internal storage remains unaffected.
Sorry again, have a bad memory with what I did last time.

na, it'll remain untouched. just don't flash a factory image. go to the development section and pick out a rooted stock rom or aosp rom. I'm using an aosp ROM by kalo86.
Hello,
So I recently had my SGS3 rooted until I stupidly installed the OTA update that Att released. Everything was good, but now my phone was unrooted and I was unable to reroot using conventional rooting methods. Now, I figured that it would be good to install a custom ROM in order to re root my phone and put jelly bean on it. However, when I went into the Clockwork mod recovery, it gave me a status 7 error while trying to install the latest nightly build of CyanogenMod 10. I also cleared out all the caches and did a factory reset. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
Thank you very much for your help!

Download the file below file to your S3 and install it via Mobile Odin to get CWM back.
Well, from what I read, you aren't rooted anymore.

If I recall correctly, Status 7 means you have an older/not-supported version of CWM installed. Your best bet is going to be to download the Samsung Galaxy S3 QCom ToolKit, and use that to install the proper CWM version. Then you will be able to wipe/install a custom ROM.
Hey guys, I was the person that accidentally formatted my HTC one and eventually flashed a stock rooted rom of 4.2.2, but now with a new update for 4.3 I am unable to update because TWRP recovery says the update is untrusted and aborts the operation, has anyone else had that problem/come up with a solution?
Flash the stock recovery, the OTA will not install with a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.

Okay, thank you very much.
Hello all.
Hopeing i can get some help with my old telus t989d. I recently upgraded to an S5 and am going to give my phone to a friend. problem is that i rooted the device right after i got it and havent touched or updated anything in years. It is still on the very first firmware that it came with Android version: 2.3.5 kernel: 2.6.35.11.
My first question is do i need to update the recovery it is currently running CWM v5.0.2.6 and an extreamly old version of superuser.
Second question is can i do a factory wipe and flash a new ROM like CyanogenMod 11.0 or do i need to update the stock firmware first.
thats all i can think of right now. thanks in advance for any help
Odin flash the 4.1.2 firmware.
Odin flash CWM 6.0.4.4 or newer( or TWRP 2.6.1.0 or newer).
You shouldn't have any problem installing CM11 after you do those things.
Unless your friend is into rooting and what not, I'd definitely give it to him with stock 4.1.2 installed.
Otherwise there will always be some glitches.
Thanks all for the info. Tryed to go back to stock unrooted. That worked fine but when I Tryed to update through keys I made a brick. Oh well
