[Q] Android 4.3 no mobile data working - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,
Very weird problem, I have flashed the google factory image on my nexus and since then I can't make mobile data to work.
Wifi works fine, calls work fine. When the mobile data is on, I can see 3G/H near the signal bars, but the bars are grey, not blue.
Nothing related to data works, sync or browsing. APN is configured correct.
Any ideas?

Hmm... Usually the fact that the bars are not blue, means that you are not connected to Google's servers. It does make sense - being that there is no data and all.
If you are absolutely sure that the APNs are correct, you may want to give your mobile operator a call. I've had it where they (Virgin mobile for me) have had to "re-provision" the phone. it's almost as the carrier is blocking your data access.
Also, you didn't disable mobile data by chance, did you?
And lastly, I doubt it's an issue with the radios, but you may want to try a custom radio, if all fails (Highly unlikely that this is the problem)

Thanks for your reply, after 2 factory resets, sim card reinsert now it works. Most likely it was a problem from my operator. When I called them, they said everything is ok on their side, but curiously, after 30mins everything worked.

Hi,
I have a similar problem with the mobile data loss. If I send MMS or receive one, I lose mobile data, so I can't get google notifications, check FB, Instragram etc. After I disable and enable data in mobile network settings, everything works normal (I don't have to restart phone). I have already checked APN settings from mobile operator, they're OK. I am on stock 4.3 (I flashed factory image couple days ago using Efrant's instructions), no root. Any ideas?

similar problem
Having a very similar problem! i updated my galaxy nexus this afternoon from 4.2.2 to 4.3. I can no longer use the mobile data. I can receive calls and text but cannot check instagram, google+, and so on. My phone shows 3 bars and the "H" but they are gray. wifi is working.
Thank you in advance!

Similar Problem
My update form my galaxy nexus arrived over the air yesterday and although I have the indicators in Blue and the H on display and have had emails in cannot get to the Web via either android or chrome browser and cannot get to google play google + any ideas

Exact same problem on nexus 4. Reverted to 4.2, 3g OK. Flashed a clean install of Google factory image. Blue bars but no connection

Unable to wireless tether GSM Nexus, Help?

I can't seem to get wireless tethering to work. My GSM Nexus is rooted. The WiFi Tether app runs as it should but the APN never shows up in wireless network lists. I used the same app flawlessly on a rooted Desire. I'm on Vodafone who actively promote using phones for tethering so there is no issue there.
Running stock Android 4.1.1. Root is checked and confirmed with Root Checker. SU appears to be up to date.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks
try selecting your phone model in the wifi tether app settings.
For me, it would always say "connected" but no other information and would not show up on wifi networks. I selected Galaxy Nexus in the settings of the app ( even though Im on a HTC VIVID, just for one more day until I get my nexus) and the second time after connecting, It also displayed upload and download realtime information.
Somethings you just have to nudge these things a bit
Have you tried turning on the WiFi tethering via the native settings menu, rather than an app?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've already done that. I tried Auto, Generic, both Nexus options and the Galaxy S2 options plus a couple of other randoms from the list just for good measure. None seem to work at all. I've also tested the APN on a laptop, my TF300T pad and my old Desire and it doesn't show on any of them so it must be the Nexus at fault.

Yeah, I did. It connected but I couldn't surf at all even with good 3G/H reception. I tried both wifi and BT using my ASUS pad.
I just got my nexus, a few hours ago.
I set up my phone, I am on AT&T (without a wifi plan, grandfathered into "unlimited" )
I turned on wifi hotspot, system wifi hotspot not a playstore app.
and...well..it works for me without any problems.
I did add the at&t pta apn. I know its not an LTE phone, but the PTA apn has pretty good service compared to the others.

[Q] Telus Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317M - Network Issue

Hello, I have had my Note 2 for a month now. I have rooted my note several times as well as installed a few ROMS.
Initially I had this ROM installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575. it worked great except the network ran extremely slow. I went back to stock until today. I installed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987023. I screwed around with the ROM installing it a few times as I had issues with the ROM. I eventually went back to stock, now my network no longer works. I have re flashed stock ROM several times now to no avail. I am hoping someone can help me fix this issue, bare in mind I have only had it a month and I am still fairly noobish when it comes to android. Thank you.
Check your apn settings. They need to look like that

I now have data, with your line: "APN TYPE DUN." I don't have that option, only Internet + MMS, Internet, and MMS. I've tried all the options and the first two work while the 3rd doesn't.
If you use a international rom use APN TYPE DUN if not use Internet + mms.
I'm using jedi which is really tmh perfect no issues.

still not working

I I used the telus settings provided, still i cannot send mms (pictures). Please help, thanks
This is bumping an old thread, but I have this exact same problem. I am running ProBam 4.5.0 (a CM based rom) and quite simply, I cannot receive MMS. I can send them just fine. Nothing I do in the APN settings makes a difference, and I have tried EVERYTHING. There are a LOT of Google results for APN glitchery, a lot of answers, and some devices ignore spaces and others don't. Anyway, I have also tried flashing the other Canadian Note 2 modems, after backing mine up of course. The Rogers modem from a month ago or so (I317MVLUCMK5) forced the APN to the 'Telus SP Tether' APN but although the phone, wifi, and SMS worked in both directions, MMS failed both ways. This is very sad, again changing the APN names didn't help at all there either - and sad because across the board I had much better reception. I am in a patchy cell net (With '4G' in the form of H+ but no LTE) and it wasn't my imagination - I could spray paint marks on the highway where the shadows lie, and I was seeing multiple bars through all sorts of fuzzy spots. Come on Telus...
Anyway, in desperation I am going to wipe out my entire phone and try another rom altogether, but I don't expect it to fix the MMS problem. The modem stuff isn't changed or touched by most roms, the roms themselves may react in a different way to the modem/APN needs (like for example Telus sometimes needing different names for what it perceives as an 'semi-unlocked international phone') but you should be able to FIX that problem in settings. And oh boy, I promise you I tried every conceivable combination of APN names. I even tried DEFAULT,SUPL,HIPRI,DUN,INTERNET+MMS at one point... lol
If anyone sees this and knows the answer, please... There were people reporting that unchecking 'retrieve messages automatically' in the SMS app settings cured issues, there were people that only got things to work editing the build prop to force various results to the antenna queries, etc, etc, etc. 3rd party SMS/MMS apps likewise don't work. The person sending me an MMS doesn't get an error, either, which means I went MONTHS without knowing I had this issue. Yup.
I know better than to phone Telus. Jeepers, that would be a long and fruitless phone call....

Lg G4 verizon MMS

So I'm using a Verizon LG G4 on Straight Talk AT&T sim. The reason being is that Verizon coverage is very poor in the area that the phone is used the most. I was able to get calls, data and texting working using the tfdata and/or RESELLER APN. I can't however get incoming MMS messages to work. I installed Textra to try and workaround the stock messaging app but it seems to have the same limitation. I also changed the settings from Legacy to Sytem in Textra but that didn't fix the issue. Does anyone know of a way to get MMS fully working using the ST AT&T sim on this verizon G4 device or is it not capable. Would routing the device make it so I could get MMS fully functioning? If so would I need to flash to AT&T firmware or would that not even be possible on this Verizon device? Thanks for any helpful advice you can offer. I've done several searches on xda and Google but can't find a solution. Thanks again. Steve

[Q] mms working with Cricket?

I've followed most of this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/help/guide-fire-phone-fireos-google-apps-t3206603) along with updating to 4.6.6, to set up my fire phone, and almost everything is working. I've activated the phone with a Cricket sim, and I can get internet and sms fine. I still can't get mms to send or receive. I've tried several different APN settings from the Cricket website and others. I've tried using the stock messaging app as well as handcent.
Is anyone else using Cricket with their fire phone and able to send/rec mms? If so, what are your APN settings?
My wife's fire phone is working with Cricket, including MMS. I think Cricket takes up to 24 hours to re-reoute SMS/MMS correctly. Maybe give it a day and see if it fixes itself.

So it does work. That's good news. Turns out my wife's BLU phone doesn't work either. It's been over a week since she switched. Would you mind looking at the APN settings and telling me if they match these (taken from https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...e-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html):

I would have to wait until tonight to check her phone, but my Nexus 5 is working with those APN settings.
Well, it turns out the fire phone is set to use the AT&T APN. The Cricket APN is there on the phone, but the AT&T one is selected. And everything is working fine on her phone.
Here is a thread from howardforums that describes this same situation.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1835537-Cricket-Wireless-MMS-APN-settings
Also, I neglected to mention that I use Google Voice, so all my SMS/MMS gets routed as data. Which is why I thought the Cricket APN worked for my Nexus 5.

Thank you more times than I could ever say! I have a carrier unlocked LG H830 (G5), and have spent more hours than I'd like to admit trying to get outgoing MMS to work on Cricket Wireless. You name it, I've tried it. I would never EVER have thought to change the Network Mode. That fixed it. Granted, instead of showing "LTE", it's now showing 4G (3.5G), and my data speed down is about 5MB, but Cricket throttles the down speeds anyway. And, at home on Wifi, it doesn't matter anyway. So again, thank you!
For the purposes of future Google searchers:
For outgoing MMS to work on a carrier unlocked LG H830 (LG G5), the Network Mode must be set to GSM/WCDMA.

Mark

Question Unable to use mobile data on Rogers, but wi-fi, text msgs and calls work

I recently bought the Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro and I recently noticed that my mobile data was not working, but my wifi, text messages and phone calls are working fine. I am currently in Toronto, Canada on the Rogers mobile network. I have been reading a similar issue that has happened on the Red Magic 5. As this thread suggested to do, I inputted the Rogers APN settings into my phone but I still cannot get my mobile data to work. Has anyone on the Rogers network had any luck getting mobile data working on their phone? TIA

Okay After a few hours of searching online, I FINALLY was able to get it to work. The steps I did are as follows:
1) Download a 3rd party app on your phone called "AddAPN". For some reason, the phone won't allow you to save any new APN settings in the regular settings menu.
2) Open AddAPN and you will have to manually input the APN settings for your network. The settings I used for Rogers are the following:
Name: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN type: default, supl, mms
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPv6
MVNO type: SPN
MVNO value: Rogers
After the above was completed I checked the Access Point Names in settings and noticed it was checked off. Then finally my mobile data was activated. Hope that helps!
