For some reason, with the stock browser, it no longer shows me my Google account when I go in to save bookmarks and only shows me "My Device". I am signed into my Google account in the browser and can browse the web fine.
It was working fine until today and I have always saved my bookmarks to my Google account so that they sync between devices.
But now, all of the sudden, when I go to save a bookmark, my only choice is "My Device".
My Google account shows as signed in, in the default browser when viewing Google.Com, but my Google account no longer appears as an option when saving a bookmark.
Any ideas???
Also, when I had ICS on my other device (tablet), I used the ICS+ browser and it was nice and accessed the default browsers bookmarks and saved them to my Google account.
Does anyone know if there is one like this for JB? I could not find one.
Thanks!

Maybe I can be more concise.
When I go into the default Android Web Browser and go to save a bookmark, I can suddenly only save it to "My Device". My Google account (I am logged into it) has suddenly and completely disappeared from the browser. This means that my bookmarks will no longer sync across devices and I bookmark a lot and this feature is very important to me and almost completely deflated my user experience.
Does anyone know how to get it back?
Addtnl Info: The browser is the only place that does not see my Google acct (although I am logged in on Google.Com) and in my Settings my GMail acct is there and "Internet" syncs fine.

so i downloaded the chrome beta that was released to market a few days ago on my prime and galaxy nexus..
i also use the chrome browser on my pc..
my question is that i use the sign in to chrome to sync the data i want (bookmarks and auto fill, etc)...but when i go to "other devices" on my prime, i only see the galaxy nexus..and vice versa. i don't see my chrome browser on other devices, nor are the bookmarks sent from the chrome pc browser to the g nexus or the prime...
am i doing something wrong? is syncing possible natively? (yes, i am logged in on my pc chrome as well..)
thanks!
I had a similar issue. I went into the sync settings in chrome on my pc and clicked "use default settings" Everything synced immediately.
It took a bit for the bookmarks to sync and a restart for the open tabs to sync for me. Make sure what you want synced is checked in the options as well.
thanks for the suggestion..i'll try checking the "sync everything" to see if it makes a difference...and then use the second suggestion and give it time..hehe
but yes, i have "sync everything" on my tablet and phone..and bookmarks and persona data on my pc...
i guess i should try to clear the data and restart the app...it's just odd that the pc browser is the only one that doesn't show up while the others do, no matter the order..hmm..

Hello guys,
I'm using Desire HD
Dutch
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sense 3.0
SW number: 3.13.161.3
(all the latest updates)
Recently I updated my Adobe Flash/Reader/Air apps, google maps app, and facebook app.
Now I get many problems:
(by the way: I can only use WiFi, since I'm abroad and don't want to spend roaming costs)
- Facebook app doesn't show anything, keeps showing "loading" on the main screen.
- First time I did this, I got messages saying new contacts found for syncing. (but that is strange because all my contacts where already synced with facebook)
- Then there came the next problem, all my contacts lost there (facebook) profile picture!???
- Another issue occured when going to the Facebook website (with the built-in explorer) it loaded until the pictures (so text loaded fine, the bleu lines on top etc. fine, but no profile pictures, no ticker on the right, no pictures of actual photos just uploaded by friends in the newsstream (frontpage)... and it just "hangs"???
- Opening a new tab and just going to google.com also just "hangs".
- Closing all tabs, and kill all apps using a app killer, and killing the WiFi connection and reconnect, then google.com loaded fine again.
But still, FB website, the FB app and profile pics (linked to FB) in contacts, all don't work anymore.
What can be wrong?
I already tried: Facebook HTC Sense Not Updating Contacts Resolved by Joe Lovrek Published by Jul 27 2010 (google it) ,, but didn't work.
I also tried changing FB settings on my desktop computer on the FB normal webpage, changing the secure https setting back to htttp setting. No good.
Can anybody help?
Please ask for more info if needed!
Ok little update on this matter:
After a lot of playing around with deleting FB accounts/sync. , delete caches and update and return to previous versions etc....
And changing securitysettings in facebook (desktop version), deleting apps/website in the account settings... etc.etc.
I now got it all installed again, but still no FB profile pics in contacts app, and also when opening facebook app, only text appears, no photo's (like photo's that friends uploaded in your mainscreen, or your own pofile pic left upper corner.... that stuff)
But I tapped on my photoalbums and tapped on a photo, and just left it there.....
after 2/3minuten seeing the black screen with the greyish squares on it, all of a sudden the picture appeared!!
And now when I have the FBapp open for some time,,,all photos start to appear! (Randomly in random albums!!)
What the ????
Whats wrong with the app or my phone that loading the pics in the app (and thus profile pics aswell) can be done, but takes forever!???
Is there a background program running in android limiting photos?? Or is it the adobe flash / adobe air update that causes it??
Problem solved, but another arised:
Problem with having FB and Whatsapp and loading images on the FB website with stock internet app was:
- Firewall / port issues with my WiFi,,,I use connectify to turn my laptop into a router aswell, and in its settings, uPnP was on. I switch it all off and I could download the images again.
But now another problem happens:
- after the hard reset and installing everything again from scratch, my stock mail app does weird: when I first openend it, I as normal, created a account, a gmail account, and it works fine, but I want all mail and max size. So I want all my 2000+ emails in my phone aswell as is in my desktop version of gmail. I also have custom made maps, or labels or whatever gmail namens it, but the problem is: when it downloads the emails, it only downloads like 200 a time, and from every map, (sent items, inbox, deleted items) it downloads everything randomly and puts it all in Inbox,,,I don't have the option anymore saying -> menu->maps-> my custom maps are not there anymore?!? and all the mail that comes in is in my inbox!??
And I first get all mail from like 2 years ago, I haven't had any recent mail in yet, everytime I refresh it.
How to resolve this, anyone?
I think I have back now.
I probably entered when setting up the account when at first openening the stock mail app, I choose "gmail" account....but you have to choose: "other(POP/IMAP)"
And then first thing at the top it says POP, change it to IMAP.
Make sure in your google mail account on your desktop you have IMAP enabled.
(Go on your desktop, to the webinterface of gmail, to the upperright there is a gearbox symbol which is settings: then go to 'forwarding (POP/IMAP). Here you can select IMAP enabled or not.)
Than finish setting up the account. (port number can be found on googles own help site)
Now when you open your stock mail app settings menu, go to sent & recieve, I want all my mail so I select: max limit, download all days, and maps to synchronize: now you can choose your 'labels'maps again and stuff.
I immidiately saw it was downloading like 1500 mail again, as so many I have in my inbox.
And go to menu->maps: I see all my custom made maps (or labels as google names it) again.
Works great again!
Cheers
The default calendar on my galaxy note 2 was not syncing correctly with my Gmail. I would go into settings, Google, and my Gmail and the calendar box was checked off. The little wheel was spinning and it would never stop spinning. I tried rebooting and I tried deleting the e-mail and adding it back on but no luck.
I went into the play store and downloaded Google calendar. This seems to have solved the problem since Google calendar syncs without a hitch but I was wondering if there is any way to get the default calendar to sync as well?

I was wondering this as well. But in the end i just keep using the Google one.

I keep getting a sync error as well. It has not synced since yesterday afternoon. I'm assuming it's an issue on Google's side as it did sync my calendar's at one point when I was setting up my phone.
I tried to use the Google Calendar App but so far I'm not liking it as well as the native Samsung calendar app. I like how the Samsung Calendar App has a small written description of the items that are on your calendar when you are viewing it by month.
I'm sure it will get sorted out on Google's end shortly. I hope.

I think I figured the syncing issue out.
First I went to Accounts - Google and stopped syncing my Calendar with Google. I then went to Application Manager - All Applications. Under there I Cleared Data for Calendar, Calendar storage and Calendar widget. Now, I'm only interested in syncing data from my Google Calendar so I had nothing to loose by clearing the data; but if you had other calendar data that was not syncing with Google then I assume you will loose that data by pressing the Clear Data button. After that I went back to Accounts - Google and reenabled syncing and all is well.
Hope this helped you.
Also the Samsung has a my calendar which doesn't correspond to anything in your Google calendar so won't synch. Finally the Samsung calendar doesn't offer any filtering so everything went to sync is also displayed unlike the Google Calendar.
TLDR; Samsung calendar is a piece of junk just root delete it and replace with googles
Hope this may help some people with this problem, When you add new event where it says Calendar make sure you choose your GMAIL Calendar not My Calendar.

To add to this:
1) Go into the Calendar app and then hit "Calendars" on top. Uncheck the "my calendar" box then save by hitting "done."
2) Go back into Calendar and hit the "+" to add event. Switch it to the Gmail account instead of "my calendar" and add a test event.
3) Go to the test event and delete it (or leave it if you don't mind).
4) Go back to the calendar app and add an event. It should now default to google instead of the samsung one from here on out.
Note: You can switch the prior events created by the default samsung app by going into them and switching the calendar to the gmail account. I would do this prior to doing the above steps to avoid repeating them.
Hope this helps anyone who finds it!
wow, i have upgraded my HTC Sensation XE to the custom rom Vipers 3.0.1. my calendar is not working, not sync to google calendar. any one having same issue here?
i have tried to clear the cache, remove the account and add in account, does not see any improvement yet so far.
If anyone else hates this entire concept of the tabbed GMail inbox, you can easily disable it.
First of all I cannot for the life of me figure out why in the heck I'd want to check 3 different email inboxes? I got 3 emails this morning. 1 from a friend. 1 showing updates to my LinkedIN account. And 1 confirming a purchase I made on Amazon. These 3 emails, all relevant and useful to me, showed up in 3 different inboxes. Why on Earth would I want that? If I got 300 emails a day, then maybe, but shouldn't it be something I can choose to turn on rather than something I have to figure out how to disable?
Personally I'm getting tired of spending so much time figuring out how to disable Google's stuff so my phone works properly.
Anyway rant over. If you hate this as much as I do (and my wife does, and my mother does, and my friends do....) here is how to make it go away on your PC and your phone so you don't have to search the internet looking for answers.
On your computer, click the little gear in the upper right corner of the GMail screen.
Choose Configure Inbox
Uncheck everything on the list except Primary.
Now your GMail screen on your computer will look like it always has.
On your phone or tablet
Go to Settings.
Then pick your email account.
Then click Inbox Catagories.
Uncheck everything but Primary.
Note: This is how disabling the tabs is SUPPOSED to work. But you might find that the settings don't stick when you change them. If so try the following...
Change the settings on your desktop computer (or use the phone's browser to see the desktop gmail site)
Clear data and cache on the GMail app.
Sync gmail app. See if that imports the changes you made on your account on the desktop site and makes them stick.
If it doesn't (it worked on my phone, not on my tablet. So its 50/50) then uninstall and reinstall the gmail apk using the play store. If you can't do that from Play for some reason, here is a link to a download.

I'm with you, the newer the version, the worst it is, it is bulky now, and sluggish.
Thanks for the info.
I just picked up an M9 from Verizon over the weekend and set up both my personal and work Google accounts. Coming from an S3, I'm not very familiar with Lollipop yet. The phone apparently thinks that my work account is my main account, and every app seems to default to using it.
For instance, in Chrome, I'm automatically signed in with my work account. I do not recall ever being asked which one to use. If I switch to my personal account, close the tab, then open a new one, I'm signed into my work account again in the new tab.
In other apps as well, my work account is default and I have to manually switch to my personal account using the drop down box.
Any ideas on how I can make my personal account the default?
You can go into each accounts sync settings and put a check next to that box.
For example, I have my Mothers account on my phone cause she's not a techie. I just want her Gmail to sync so I have a check next to just her Gmail account.
I hope that helps.
I don't think that the sync settings have anything to do with it. Besides, I need to have my work account synced up with at least mail, calendar, contacts, docs, etc.
I figured out how to properly switch accounts in Chrome. I should have completely signed out of my work account in the Chrome settings rather than through the "switch account" link at the bottom of the Google search results page. Once I did that, I was able to sign in with my personal account.
Edit: Chrome sync for my work account was turned off the entire time.

When you started the phone setup, did you put your work Gmail account in first? If so, that's probably why. I would suggest removing your work Gmail, then add it after a reboot. My hope here is that the personal account takes over a the primary, as I don't think you can do it any other way.
Edit: I've also read that your only hope may be a factory reset... But I would recommend the above method--you may also want to open chrome, play store, and other g-apps prior to adding your work account back.
No, I set up my personal account first. But yeah, I might have to try that and see if it works.
