Phone NOT BOOTING UP NEED HELP ASAP

So my friend brings me his gsm nexus and is not loading up stays stuck and loading Google screen but does nothing from there..... I asked him what he had done and he said he went into cwm since he was having problems with his phone and decide to format everything on it sdcard/system/ etc etc etc..... I never done something so stupid before lol So I really don't know how to help him...... any way to be able to flash a stock rom maybe via odin ? or stock anything to get the phone to boot up again ? any help is greatly appreciated....... I could boot it up in recovery mode but since sd card is empty I can't restore any roms or any backups since he seem to have deleted them all

well your friend formatted the /system directory so there is no rom on there. of course it wont boot up.

his 'friend' rooted his own phone and doesnt know how to fix it so he hands it to soemone else that doesnt know how to fix it? you should point your friend to XDA, its a great resource

I guess if you guys wanna say is me doesn't really bother me.... I use xda to flash and stay up to date with the community I am in no way a developer or claim to know what I am doing.... Just trying to help a friend out or like you guys say me.... Just trying to fix a phone I was the one that rooted the phone for him... Just don't see the big deal..... Fastboot? Factory image?

I have the nexus booted up in fastboot mode...... but the computer/laptop only recognize the device as android 1.0 I'm literally lost..... I could get the phone in clockwork recovery But i have nothing to flash since im not able to copy any files into folders since the phone doesn't boot up.... any step by step instructions on what i would have to do ?

Let me try to go over this again see if I could figure it out..... $20 to whoever helps me get this fixed for wasting ur time

I downloaded the universal naked driver 7.... I have them saved in my desktop but when i try to update the android 1.0 device which i go browse for the file instead of letting the automatic update the files don't show up in the desktop thru the windows update thing

this phone doesn't use external sd cards....
OP, you might want to uninstall the drivers you currently have for 'android 1.0' in device manager, reboot the computer and then try installing the new drivers.

Or use a tool kit to download a factory rom and flash it.
Edit: can't you mount the sdcard using cwm and copy a rom to the sdcard?

I tried using a tool kit and pushing files to the device "a rom" but keeps saying error device not found

In cwm when i press mount sd card doesn't really do anything connected to the computer

M8 have you tried wugs toolkit and use twrp instead of cwm OK, lol you come on here for help and people jump on ya, just like those idiots shouting abuse at ya from a four storey building with locks and chains on there security doors ,

PDA u could use, are you sure you haven't any other drivers interfering , if u use PDA disable the other one. And if its a nexus gsm wugs tool kit is a must!!!!

Unlocked Bootloader for 10.3

Will there eventually be an app for unlocking the bootloader on the 10.3 firmware? I don't have the factory cable and it sounds like a lot of people have bricked their device doing the downgrade to 10.2.

I hope so. I am not gonna even try it... Lol instead rooted it and used Kindlefree app to install Nova and used titanium backup. So it's "like" Android but not quite lol....

It worked for me even with the 10.3.1 bootloader. It seems that the exploit is not closed yet.

I can confirm that the utilities still work fine with the latest version of the kindle software, so you shouldn't even need to downgrade.

But if I downgrade my bootloader I won't have to use the whole 2nd bootloader method and all that right? Won't I then just be able to use some utility to flash TWRP and then flash a ROM? This Kindle thing is probably a little more intimidating than anything else I've messed with. I have mine rooted and a bunch of other hacks but I want pure Android on. I don't want a brick though..

Ok so if I use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216285 to downgrade my current bootloader then use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463 to flash the freedom boot img and TWRP then I can just flash a ROM like normal through TWRP. Right?

No need to downgrade the bootloader. Install the apk from the dev. Thread and click install. Nothing else.

What about all that craziness I have been reading about locking up the bootloader due to the 10.3.1 bootloader? I can just forget about that and install that apk file and THEN I would be able to flash a ROM via TWRP? I thought that the thread said that this tool said it was for the old bootloader. This is great news! Can you confirm this? Are we on the same page?

Yes the exploit stil exists. Tested by myself withe the 10.3.1 bootloader and confirmed by other people. Enjoy the freedom of flashing!

Oh my goodness. This absolutely worked. WHY didn't I meet you like 3 days ago? LOL Any noob to Kindle should know about this. Root + Run a simple .apk WOW. Any thoughts on the best Rom going right now for KF2? Kernel?

Well, i personally use the aosp Rom by hashcode. It`s simple, nice and clean. But what you are using is your own choice. Flash different Roms and make your own mind.

So, it looks like I have screwed something up. This figures as my luck is terrible with this freegin Kindle. So I got TWRP recovery working fine. I DL Cyanogenmod 10.1 and Gapps accordingly. Went into TWRP of course made a backup, then went to flash. I wiped EVERYTHING and went to flash the ROM. I received the error <Could Not Open .zip> So now I have nothing on file except a bad .zip. I did re-download the ROM assuming it was bad and restored my TWRP backup. Now I am stuck in what appears to be a Kindle Bootloop. The Kindle Fire (Orange) logo comes up, a few seconds later it blinks back off again and recycles. Now what? I can't get the Kindle to boot so I can put the .zip back on the machine. I am STUCK. This sucks... :crying:

I did the exact same thing when i got my kindle back in January. (Yeah, i had to order my cable right after that )
For some reason I've never been able to restore a stock TWRP backup on the kf2. It always borks the bootloader.
I know there is a special requirement that our bootloader uses a file called stack on the system partition- that's why you can't get into recovery now (when you wiped the system it wiped the stack file which let's us run the second bootloader.)
Anyway, Once you have the fastboot cable its really easy to get things going again. Pm me if you need a hand.. I've been through this myself a few times lol.
If you ever end up in the same situation again where you wiped the system and the zip is bad... Stay in twrp and use "adb sideload" to push a good zip from pc.

I actually tried the side load through TWRP. When I typed "adb devices" it showed my device in host mode and the file wouldn't transfer although TWRP was in adb sideload mode. But then I just thought "oh well guess I'll restore my backup" lol. Yeah that didn't work out..

Thanks for the info guys. I'm glad I didn't have to change the firmware. The whole process was super easy and now I'm running jb 4.2. For those reading, just root->install one touch apk->make backup in twrp->factory reset->flash rom and gapps->success!

**As a special note however DO NOT restore your factory backup if you have trouble. You will end up like me. Bootlooping with a fast boot cable in the mail.** if I could go back in time I would've downloaded the files via a hard line rather than slow wifi and maybe even double downloaded.. Oh well. This is a learning opportunity.

Phone Bricked. Please Help (Formatted /system)

I have the galaxy nexus INTERNATIONAL GSM version.
I formatted the phone and clicked on everything in the format option
format /sd-card
format /system
format /data
format /cache
now phone won't work only now.
wont go beyond "google" screen.
Was on android revolution hd 10 rom.
What to do?

It's not bricked. Try flashing the factory image or sideloading a ROM.
You still should be able to get to recovery or bootloader.

Just reflash a Rom for your device, the reason why its not booting is when formatted system it deletes the system apps which allows the phone to work, so the phones os incomplete.

Or you could boot into bootloader and select recovery. From there connect ur phone to ur pc and from the recovery, mount sd card or toggle USB storage which ever it is... enable it and ur sdcard would appear on ur pc, from there copy ur Rom after copying the Rom, unmount ur sdcard from the recovery. From there u can go on and flash your Rom.

Adb push a ROM to the storage.
Why the F would you wipe everything in recovery and expect it to boot?

flash system.img,boot.img and recovery.img (in fastboot)
fastboot oem lock
sell on ebay
buy iphone
profit.

I realize that it works and download mode is available.
What I'm saying is that Odin itself is a leaked tool from Samsung. There is no proper documentation for it and there is no official support from Samsung since we aren't even supposed to have Odin.
Fast boot methods are recommended and supported by Google. That is the official way to get out of a jam on a nexus device.
I can't believe that I even have to explain that.

[Q] Huge Problem with Nexus 7

Hello, my name is Jon. I've got a serious problem with my Nexus 7..
So.... I've had my Nexus 7 for about a month and a half and I decided to root it.
Everything was going good. I got it unlocked, loaded a new recovery mode ( Clockwork 6.0.0.6.), and put super user on it.
I loaded up Clockwork and was looking around in it and I accidentally wiped ALL OF THE DATA OFF... That included the operating system..
Now.... When I try to boot up it stays at the GOOGLE SPLASH SCREEN and won't move past that, unless I go to Fastboot or Recovery Mode..
I can't load data on to it due to there not being an sd card slot and my computer won't recognize it enough to allow me to put data on to it.
It recognizes it as "ANDROID ADB INTERFACE" and says it's working properly.
IT WON'T LET ME FORMAT IT OR FACTORY RESET IT DUE TO IT NOT BEING ABLE TO MOUNT THE SD CARD...
I've tried about everything I can think of...
PLEASE HELP!!!! I've had this tablet for for a month and a half and I am definitely not about to let it die.

It looks like JWR66Y is for the Nexus 7(2012). Is that what you have?

Simplest way I know to fix this is download any rom you wish to install with gapps to your computer (not sure if stock requires you to flash them too since I never ran stock on my nexus devices ). Next download and install the android adk to get adb running. If you are on Windows, located the platform-tools folder in the sdk and press shift and right click on it and select open command window hear. Type .\adb devices to be sure you can recognize your device and then use .\adb push command to transfer your files from the computer to your tablet while in recovery mode

You'll need to download the appropriate rom for your device, and use ADB/Fastboot to push to your nexus.
One thing I always do is before I touch anything in TWRP (same idea as CWM) is to make a complete backup of my device before I do any wiping. Granted, if you wiped internal storage as well, this wouldn't help but it would help if you just did a factory reset without wiping internal storage completely.
See if you can do these steps.

Whichever Nexus you have, you should download the factory image from here

Only download the one for your device or you may hard brick it.

I have made that mistake. I have nexus 7 (2012) . When it's stuck at nexus logo or bootloop, i always download the right files and flash them. Then it works great but the last time
I flashed nexus 7 (2013) files to nexus 7 (2012) by mistake. Now it doesn't open and stuck at Google Logo. Can't get in recovery mod and my computer doesn't recognize it. How can i solve this

hi, im presuming you can still access the recovery screen on your nexus7 even though its stuck looking for the operating system that you have wiped.:crying:
if so then try wugfresh nexus root toolkit as im sure it will flash original android operating system on it even though it is soft bricked.:fingers-crossed:

You should be able to get to fastboot mode and then use factory images

so I was going to wipe phone cause I am selling it today and my dumb ass wiped everything and now I have nothing on my device to flash new rom on to phone,I want to keep it rooted and bootloader unlocked.I can access twrp but not sure how to push fiel to phone,I have nexus tools on pc but it just seems to hang,anyone have any ideas how I can fix my problem,I need to get it fixed asap to sell today

Can you upload it to SD and push it from there? Just a thought.

Anyone have any ideas I've searched and from what I've found isn't working for me using nexus tools.

On phone: go to TWRP-Advanced-ADB Sideload and start sideloading. Connect to PC.
On PC: use command "adb sideload *PATH-TO-ROM.zip*" to upload and flash the ROM subsequently.
