Hi all,
I've loaded this ROM successfully and am enjoying it quite a bit - I have two "test" KFs and I've noticed that in the "Settings" area, the serial number is missing in each device (without this, Google Play store seems only to see the last KF logged in). Is there any way to locate the serial number or if that is not possible to regenerate one?
Thanks in advance.

I *thought* that would work, but I'm more interested in getting the serial # to show up in CM10 so multiple KF1's will show up in google play. If I need to do something either on the KF1 or in the play store to get this to work, please let me know.
Any ideas for getting to KF1s running CM10/SG7 to both be recognized by Google Play at the same time?
Go to terminal emulator and run:
su
idme ?
Serial # and MAC Should appear.
Google Play will never recognize a Kindle Fire since it wasn't Google Play Ready or Google Certified.

It *does* recognize the device in its device list. The problem I'm having is that it cannot distinguish between two converted KF1s ...

After many test I managed to get Silk to work on a different OS. This worked on CM7 for Kindle Fire. If you get any errors please post.
Here is the link to the spreadsheet. Please check to see if your device is supported!
Install Tutorial:
1. Download the pack here.
2. Use Root Explorer to copy the lib files to /system/lib set permissions the same as the others.
3. Install all of the .apks like you would side load.
4. Copy the com.amazon.cloud9-1.apk from /data/app to /system/app
5. Reboot and enjoy
Check out this post from theverge! Here!
Edit (7/8/2012): Removed dead download links. All installer seems to be lost forever. If anyone still has the file please PM me. There is now no more spreedsheet editing. Most devices are listed so check it out.
Edit (1/6/2012): Made and Uploaded Silk Installer. Please read the directions in a later post. This is my last post for this project but I will still support it if people have erorrs.
Edit (1/4/2012): Updated SilkPort with puneet_champ's apk. Also Please stop screwing around with the spreadsheet.
Edit (1/4/2012): Updated Silk Pack/Added new mirror. (Removed Account and Sync) and Cleaned the post.
Edit (1/4/2012) As suggested by Cobracat03 you could try OTARootKeeper to use Amazon Prime Videos. If you can login to your amazon account through the Account and Sync settings post your method here or PM me if you can't post.
this worked for me on cm7 thanks!
This worked on my ATRIX also. Interesting. I used everything but the account and sync aol because it would have replaced one of my files and I didn't want to do that.

Thanks so much for this! I've been patiently waiting for someone to do this! I tried myself but couldn't get it to work right.
Edit: I followed the instuctions, except I couldn't replace the accounts and sync, I haven't tried to manually do it via root explorer. I didn't think it worked at first, I tried to open the silk browser it FC'd on me. So I reset my kindle and it's working like a charm
It appears that the AccountAndSync.apk may be needed in order to get Prime videos working. Currently it doesn't recognize one as a prime subscriber.
The Silk Browser has the 'Accelerate Browsing' option checked (active) and greyed out (cannot deactivate).
Overall works well... Thanks!
Edit: I renamed the existing AccountAndSync.apk and added the one from the package. Still cannot find a way of adding credentials that are recognized by the VOD app. Currently it says that unit is not configured properly for playing videos when a video purchase is attempted.
Works perfectly! Thank you! Now is there any way you can port the stock rom keyboard? That would be great!
I'll look into allowing Amazon Video. Don't know about the settings in Silk.
Updated the main post with more info.
got the libs moved just fine. couldn't install any of the apk's. got a parsing problem each time. any ideas? i'm using a rooted optimus v with the bumblebee rom.
Try installing the apks in adb.
appreciate the help, but it still failed. i received the following on the terminal when trying to install the apk thru adb:

Edit2: I don't have cm7 installed so I dont know if it works but replace the following in build.prop
ro.build.fingerprint (Try this one first, if it does not work change the next one also)
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=generic/blaze/blaze:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/6.2_user_3003020:user/release-keys
o.build.description
Code:
ro.build.description=blaze-user 2.3.4 GINGERBREAD 6.2_user_3003020 release-keys
If this doesn't work then you will have to sit tight because I am going to install cm7 on the first to fine tune this port.

I did notice however, that the KF version of the Kindle app renders books differently from the stock app. Also some books will not load at all on the Kindle App from the google market on the KF. I ported the KF Kindle app onto cm7 but I'm stuck because I cannot login into my Amazon account from cm7 (cannot register device)
For one, I could not install Accounts and Sync (anyone know how to get this installed?). Another reason I was thinking this might be failing is because Amazon expects to get a 16 digit serial number from the device during registration. My guess is the cm7 build prop does not provide this and so the registration fails. Thoughts?
I found it.

As far as rooting, the qemu automated root in the developer section for the hd version will work for this system version. If you happen to update at some point to newer version a different root method is needed., but for now that will work.
Sounds like it is a driver issue.
Try this driver installing this driver, make sure the device is unplugged when you install, then reboot your computer:
https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B4lZEJI5lYeMdnFHeVRMQUtRYWc/edit
It should show up in device manager as composite android adb interface
If that does not work follow the directions in this link to install sdk with kindle add-ons:
https://developer.amazon.com/sdk/fire/connect-adb.html
As for the apps from amazon, you'll just have to install play store and forget about amazon apps.
Hope this helps

MTP sounds like the storage. Maybe the SD card is corrupt. I wish in could offer more help. Did you try a factory reset?
There is a way to get apps from the amazon store without a US credit card
In order to download anything from the Amazon Appstore (even the free apps) you need to enable 1-Click settings on your Amazon account and set a US credit card and billing address. Provided you only want to download free apps you can use any valid US address and a test credit card number.
Expiration Date has to be a valid date in the future (use the mm/yy format). Also make sure to use a US address (just Google for one, but make sure you don’t ship any purchases to this address)
American Express
371449635398431
American Express Corporate
378734493671000
Discover
6011111111111117
JCB
3530111333300000
MasterCard
5555555555554444
Visa
4111111111111111
If you want paid apps you can load your Amazon account with a gift card that you can purchase in Amazon with an international credit card. Any purchases should then use the gift card balance instead of trying to charge the non-working US credit card.
Hi Friends, Now my computer is able to read my Kindle after factory reset and few different task.
Now, when I am trying to root Kindle Fire (10.2.4.) through Qemu rooting procedure it says following. In second option "Exploiting" it says Permission denied.
"Rooting FAILED! You may want to try running this tool again.
Your device region may not be supported if you see this message again.
Press any key to continue . . ."
Any other way to root Kindle fire (10.2.4.) and use this as awesome android pad. please help.

the kindle fire does not at this time support usb otg so no 3g dongle. If you have it rooted, I suggest spoofing the build.prop with root explorer so that it looks like a nexus 7 or galaxy nexus. search around the kindle fire 1 forums on how to do that part. it will allow you to download more apps from google play if you installed gapps on your newly rooted kf2.

hi guys i recently got my gf an amazon fire tv now the device isnt rooted but i managed to get spmc installed fine

i use xbmc on many devices and never had any issues was wondering if anyone could help me solve it or better yet upload there xbmc data so i could restore it to mine using the amazon fire utility app any help would be great thanks
Make sure you are using the new URL: http://fusion.tvaddons.ag
Lambda just updated Genesis to version 3.1.0. It is super fast with new HD sources.

TVAddons released a specific android version called TVMC which will load all that for you automatically. Its still good to learn the inner workings of XBMC though.

hey jocala,
I'm on fire tv 1 OS 5.0.5.1 freshly installed. I have an attached hard drive which wont mount either on boot or while manually mounting. I am able to mount it using stick mount manually.
Could it be something to do with busybox? I had a similar problem on OS 3 and it was a busybox issue.

Unfortunately, Android sandboxes the drive so only root can see it. With OS5 the install-recovery*.sh scripts are no longer started at boot by the stock kernel, so starting things at boot no longer works.

This error means that adbLink is unable to write to the installation location.
It mostly happens to Mac users when they run adbLink from within the dmg container. You must DRAG the app from the dmg folder to the /Applications folder. It can also happen if you don't have write privileges in the Application folder (your user isn't admin). It that case drag adbLink to your Desktop, or any other location where you have write privileges.

Think of the "offline" status as a busy signal. It simply means that another instance of adb has snagged a connection to your Fire TV, preventing you from properly connecting. That "other" adb connection could be a phantom adb instance running on your PC, or an adb connection made from another computer/tablet/phone on your network, or something like FireStarter running on the device itself. For a computer, use task manager for windows/ activity monitor for mac. I use ps to look at processes running under the linux kernel (Fire TV, phones, tablets, etc).

Good to know. Thanks for the report.
Hi, where's the screenshot button gone?
Like the title says, I'm having problems trying to install the google play app store on the kindle fire 1st gen, I have 6.3.4 version and I've tried the apks here, and I can't still install it, my device is already rooted, any help or advice?

That's just where I am! I'm technologically challenged, but using online guides/software have managed to root my 1st gen Kindle Fire. Now, I can't figure out how to install the Google apps. None of the "packages" are working. Help!

[How To][Root] Kindle Fire 1 update 6.3.4 [2014]

Did that!
Thanks for your response! However, I had already run the Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.9 and gotten the message, "All our apps have been installed". No apps were visible in the app menu or discoverable through the file manager. After your replay I ran it again. Same "success" - same result.
So, I downloaded the utility again and when I attempted to unzip it I received this message:
! C:\Users\Steve\Downloads\Kindle+Fire+Utility+v0.9.9.zip: Cannot create tools\adb.exe
Access is denied.

OK, I'm REALLY lost. I can't find the thread that has the files to install Google Play since the Kindle Fire Utility is broken (as I've been informed.) I'm sorry to be such a bother but here is my situation: My Kindle is apparently rooted and working. BUT, now I am unable to download previously purchased items stored in the Cloud. Seems that Amazon no longer recognizes the device. So, since I cannot download a Google Kindle app, I'm sort of hung out to dry. How might I go about finding someone local to me who could do this for me? I live in coastal Virginia.
