Well ive quit my progress with this ... Sorry but the project i been workin on is worth it ... Maybe someone else can take a look and take over .....
The last 2-3 post showing everything working is from my project I been Working on .... Didn't mean to get them intertwind ...
I've downloaded and installed the moto x camera apk... Everything seems to work except flick wrist,HDR,slow mo... Haven't tried all of the options since HDR,slo-mo, is greyed out... U can hold the focus ring and take multiple shots in a row ....
My problem is it starts at 1x zoom... Can someone fix that issue with it ? I don't have the knowledge to do it ...
I got it from this thread and they deserve all the credit....

I honestly have no idea which line does but when u install the mod it installs it as another camera so u get the camera you using know or u can choose the moto x .... Pictures taken from either camera app all goes to your original gallery....
To me get best of both worlds 1 gallery 2 camera options ....
I can still see the autofocus issue with the Moto X camera Try flashing the camera mods and then use the camera?

I noticed that but even the moto camera doesn't focus after I close it and reopen. Just like the aosp camera. That's why I need shellnuts script to open it.

to me it's not the pictures I take are just fine.. IMO... they are plenty good enough for me... in fact even with the funky camera this is still the best phone I've owned even the camera surpasses what I'm used to so for me is all thumbs up... lol
so installing this you get dual camera apps that play well together? wanting to try it just unclear on that one thing

To be honest, what I've noticed are that general landscape pictures look good, even without the mod. Its when you try to get close ups and focus in on objects, is when things get haywire.

I tried 2 camera apps- camera zoom and hdr camera+,2 of the best camera apps on the market. Camera zoom offers an interesting feature of touching the screen to take picture, thus preventing oof pics,as mentioned in another thread. Hdr offers excellent color saturation, the hdr effect by itself doesn't offer anything special.
My opinion- Both camera apps lead to loss in detail or excessive graininess, picture quality is the best in the default app only,in terms of details and color fidelity. But I want the extra feature of color saturation. I want my pics to look bright and vivid like on the sgs and gs2.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
So here's to clarify:-
The difference in quality is not obvious in the 5mp shot, its when you zoom out on an object.
1.In that case, stock camera app is noticeably better at capturing all the details.
2. Camera Zoom has a lot more options, i personally tend to never use them.
3.Stock camera app would be awesome if it had touch to shoot, it goes out of focus rather quickly, but that effect would not be obvious if you are in your room and shoot an object at a constant focal distance.
4. Here again, on 4.0.3 aokp(because thats what i use and love) stock camera first focuses then shoots on pressing the shutter, which gives pretty good pics, IMO, on par with camera zoom focus level.
5. My main gripe, is the color of the stock app. Its natural looking colors, perfect for most ppl, but I like my colors to be vibrant and saturated so that when i show my gallery to dumb ppl, they go "wooooow". HDR camera + gives nice saturated colors, thats what i would like in the stock camera, "saturate option". thats not there even in camera Zoom.
Unfortunately, there is little that can be done with the stock app. You could try changing the scene mode or the white balance and see if that gets you the desired effect. You could also use the editor built in to the gallery. Good luck.
Oh, and nice pics...corona and papa johns = one bad morning. Lol.

yea whr is it? Moreover I was referring to some devs working their magic on the stock camera app to add some more options.like saturation etc... colors, even though accurate, seem pretty dull here. Not bad, mind you, because it takes pics with high color accuracy, just that if it were more saturated, it would look better.

Actually with some software tweaks, it can possibly improve camera quality. The best way to tell the difference is to side load 4.2 and 4.1 camera apk and take a picture of the same thing under the same conditions and compare.
It's like saying, a apk made your phone faster? Software is just as important as hardware. They rely upon each other.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've actually had a few devices where a SOFTWARE upgrade has made my camera better. Droid Incredible, upgrade unlocked 1080 recording. Nexus 7... upgrade unlocked 720p recording...
It happens.
Of course software can improve the camera performance. Like white balance, exposure and such. Probably not the noise in the images though unless you add noise reduction. I prefer noise rather than smudge though. But we got enough of both already.

I just went to a new rom, so I currently don't have the 4.2 camera.
From memory, the quality wasn't that different for me, but I'd really agree in saying software can improve the IQ. Most of my pics turn out too bright and hence wash out the colour, a simple edit and changing the highlight slider to darker makes the pictures look much better. I mean, if the camera did this itself better, the pictures would turn out much better by default. Wish the 4.2 had HDR as well.
How do you guys share the photo-spheres?

HDR is 100% software based. All it does is take multiple pictures with different exposures in quick succession (3, 5, etc.) and combines different parts of each image into a final HDR image. There are already a bunch of 3rd party camera apps available on the Play Store that offer HDR modes and they work just fine on the GNEX.
While the final images may look better on the N4 because of the better sensor/optics of its camera, and while these images may be saved a little faster because of its faster processor (but the GNEX is also working with smaller file sizes, so even the speed difference may be negligible at best), I see no reason to believe this would not be possible on the GNEX, especially since it has that zero-lag instant shutter.
If the GNEX is able to handle Photosphere, it should be able to handle HDR just fine.
I know this is unrelated to the original thread, but it's still somewhat related.
I can't view my 360 panoramas like a virtual room... just like a normal panorama.. I see the button on there, but I click it and it doesn't do anything. I can upload them to Gmail though and view them fine on there.. Any tips?
That's right 4.2 is crap

I haven't had any problems with it. I even tested the video recorder, and nothing was wrong with it. Even viewing spheres is fine. My only nit pick is the rotation lag.
What problems were you reading? Maybe people are flashing newer or older versions.
You can install it and not use it, after flashing I got two camera and two gallery apps. One old one new. Both functioning fine.

Hello guys,
I manage to get the GS4 Camera apps running on GS3 JB 4.2.1 Leaked Version. Is still buggy but still usable for normal photo taking task. While working to fix the bugs, I thought of sharing this mod for anyone who wish to try this and maybe someone could help in fixing the bugs.
Here is a video of this apps running on S3 prepared by udimars30:
http://youtu.be/h5tnbgSADns
What is working and not working
1) Rear camera works fine up to 8mp setting. Could take photo with setting at 13mp but result is terrible.
2) Front camera works fine too.
3) Flash is working
4) Video recording is not working!
5) Beauty Face feature working
6) Best Photo feature working
7) Best Face feature working
8) Sound&Shot feature seem working
9) HDR feature working
10) Eraser feature working
11) Panorama not working
12) 360 feature not working
13) Sports feature working, I think so.
14) Night feature working
15) Effects like sepia, vintage, etc, not working
16) And Dual camera...too bad, is not working
17) Others settings - not yet tested.
Allright, if you wish to try, here is how:
(As usual, flash this at your own risk)
1) Make sure you are on Deodexed Samsung JB4.2.1 (XXUFMB3)
2) Download the zipfile below
3) Backup your phone.
4) Clear cache & Dalviks cache in cwm/twrp
5) Flash the zipfile
6) Reboot
7) Enjoy

Panorama is pretty cool and works better than other market aps I have used. pinch to zoom type focus is easier to use than stock zoom. All in all a better camera controls. Works on Front camera also. Sound is very low on videos, have not found the work around for that. But that was also on stock video. So far I'm liking it. thanks all.

After trying everything I saw people said they did to get it working on here. Installing as a system app, regular app. After backing up the nexus camera app and uninstalling it completely then installing this new 4.3 camera I have found that all I did was waste my time.
This camera is so laggy and buggy its not worth it at all. At least for me running liquidsmooth 2.7, it just restarts your phone when using the front camera for video or pictures. Photosphere and everything with the rear camera works properly but the front facing camera is all bugged. Definitely would suggest to others to avoid this camera until a better version is released that fixes these bugs.
Back on the nexus camera happily. Photosphere can wait.
For people with trouble installing try this flashable zip. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7S-bznVXd7BYlFMMlNmcXFvWE0/edit go to File under the title and click download
Even photosphere is working for me and I'm running CSRom.

Has anyone figured out how to change the default storage location? I would like to keep mine on my SD card and not the main memory.
Has anyone found that with the new gallery installed that they can no longer view mms? They'd all fail for me, searched around for a bit, uninstalled the new gallery and they could be viewed again. Not sure if this can be fixed by removing the old gallery. I had both installed.

It works with the touch to focus, but it's got quite delayed shots. I really like the ability to take camera shots by the second.
However photosphere works, so if that's what your interested in go for it.
It's nice to know I can switch if I want to. Thanks
What causes the error whenever you don't touch to focus? Is it fixable, or do we have to wait for the source to be available?
will this work with wicked sensations rom?
Here is the camera fix for all aosp ROMs... Should be compatible with 4.3 also when it comes out....
DL link: http://db.tt/P9uBiLA2
Second DL link:
http://rapidgator.net/file/9a14646aa0b62fda63f489a7236031fb/google_camera.zip.html
To install : once downloaded reboot into recovery... - I'm using twrp 2.6
Next flash zip right over ROM...
Once installed go to the advanced tab and click fix permissions...
Once that's done reboot back to you're ROM as normal..
Go to camera and mess around with it do what ever u like...
Once u leave the camera and go back the focus ring doesn't auto focus...
Easy fix just hold that big blue button in the middle and it will focus...
Then just release the snap button when u ready for it to snap ya picture....
That's it u know got all options fully working with 13mp,photosphere,panoramic, HDR, and what ever else I'm for getting...
All I ask is u say ty and IDC if u use it in ya ROM just please give shout to me for my hard work on this....
Before u ask no the problem isn't my camera y the auto focus messes up after u leave ... Its a known bug with android itself...
Edit:8-17-13. Camera appears to be fixed ... heres the new link ... https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B1DGsUzId7AHZ3c0QXhFMVp4Skk/edit
If ya don't believe me look it up..... Ty

While I do like the app. It does not fix the focus issue. Tried repeatedly. Thanks for the work!

Yeah, same here. Run Shelnutts' latest CM build, flashed camera mod, still no go after reopening camera.
I take it this is for the "stock" camera in aosp roms? Will this work for the google camera app? I have the google camera so flashing this would get rid of it, correct?
idk how I got here...

Flashing this will give you two cameras and galleries. But regardless, it still doesn't fix the autofocus. >_<
In order for the auto focus to work once u leave the camera and go back in u just hold the blue snap button. It will then focus and u release the button to take ya pic....
The auto focus is a known android problem..its not the camera its self or the hardware....their are other devices that have the same issue as us when it cones to auto focus....
The focus problem seems to b a hit and miss issue ...

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to come up with the permanent fix...I am still working on it along with my new project.... I don't like leaving this with the focus issue ..
If someone else out their can help figure out this focus issue that me nor Google seem to be able to fix please by all means go ahead Lol....

I've got it narrowed down to how the camera calls back the focus and auto focus... I'm using lg camera right know .... I thought maybe once I got the official working it would fix the focus issue but no go on it fixing ...everything else works tho ...
