That statement of 4-6 hrs increasing to 25 hrs has to be HIGHLY exaggerated.

Even so I doubt anything short of the phone being off or an entirely new battery could make a phones battery life increase by 416% - 625%. That just not seem possible. I can see a 50% - 100% increase being a possibility.

Well users are reporting a significant increase in battery life for users with android 4.3 on Nexus 4.

Noticed a big improvement on my N7 in speed and battery life so I hope this is true and we get a stock rom soon.

dont think a feature port will get it done
my nexus battery life has improved drastically as well. But i would say by 30% at best.. i can go nearly a extra day . I hardly use the device unless im out and about. I was finding it dead in 4-5 days not charging it .. now im 3 days no charge and still 90 percent..
but if i read right this is a redesign in the graphics engine.. If so this would be something hard to just port. I think it will require a complete os upgrade not just a feature or parts ported out..
I can get 3 days battery life on my note 2 ... .
Where i need more battery is with my Note 10.1.. its almost never leaves my hands unless im out then its the nexus as it fits in my purse.. omg i have too many devices....
I Want a Note 8.. please

[Q] Any way to Increase battery life?

I'm just wondering if there's any known methods to increase the battery life without sacrificing performance. I know the basic stuff like turning off Gps, Wifi, Data, etc. when not needed but is there anything else I can do to prolong the battery life? I'm currently running the wanam lite rom with trininty's alpha 7b kernel. A couple of people reported great battery life with this combo but I'm only getting a little bit better than stock battery life.
What exactly is a little bit better than stock? How many hours are you getting?

Well with moderate use ( 3-4 hours of web browsing, playing games, etc.) on stock I get about 9 hours and with this rom and kernel I get roughly 9 and half.

I get the same too, kind of hate it :/ I don't understand what drain so much when the phone is not in use, I always wonder why stand by time is so bad in my phone, I get much better battery life rooted but I'm stock right now, I got tired of flashing roms and I hate to wipe every time I flashed so I prefer stock to stop doing that

Yeah, The rom is based off of stock H2 and is supposed to have some battery tweaks to make it last longer. All of the people said battery was good using this combo and 1 person said it's been 1 day 16 minutes, and they had 26% left but they didn't post the usage.
Ok this is with the stock rom. Heavy usage by my means any way. It was on the charger for a few mins here and there. But really not enough to show real battery increase.

The best way to determine battery life (not I played a game for a little, surfed the web over 4G, called some, texted all day) is to take a screenshot of your Screen On time, and overall time since charging. Otherwise, your statements are pointless.
If u have a rooted device u should try the highonandriod Rom it dies have better battery life than stock

Well the purpose of this thread wasn't to solve an issue with my battery life or determine my exact amount battery life, but rather to find out if there are any tricks to improve battery life. So there's no reason for me to post any screens of my battery stats because it's irrelevant to the thread, I was just wondering if anyone knew any tricks or tips they use to improve their battery life.

I'm very happy with Wanam Lite for now, it's so far the smoothest stock rom I've flashed and I'm eagerly awaiting the next update, so I don't really plan on flashing anything else for now. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll definitely give it a shot when I'm looking for another rom to flash.

Don't use the phone. The screen will almost always be your biggest power draw. Screen-on time is relevant because if you have the screen on for three or four hours you aren't going to see battery life that is any better.

Your right, it is relevant when comparing, but I'm not comparing anything here just looking for tips and tricks. I looked at battery stats when I compared the stock battery to the rom battery and recorded both stats on heavy use. If you want statistics, I got 9h 38m of battery use, internet and netflix took up 31% battery consumption, games took up 23%, phone calls and texting took up 12%, and the other 34% is basically screen off time. These were the stats from when I tested it on the Wanam Lite rom. I'm not confused as to why it only lasts about 9 and a half, hours as you can see I was constantly on the phone when I was testing it.

Well not only were you watching a video (I assume, instead of just browsing) Netflix, you were streaming. That probably did a number on your battery. I know I cannot stream Netflix for very long if I want my phone to last through the day. Also games, things that will ramp up the processor, etc while using the screen will tax your battery more than usual.

Some may not like my answer because it removes some bells and whistles, but I suggest turning off all the motion features. Just my two cents. Battery life was better and I found most of the motion features unnecessary.

Yeah, this isn't my everyday use, nor would I do this if I was trying to maximize my battery life. This was purely for testing the battery life on heavy usage and I found that it was only a little bit better when compared to stock. I'm in no way complaining, I think Wanam has done a amazing job with the rom. The stability is great, speed is comparable to JB roms, and battery is a lot better. Unless used heavily as shown above, then it's only slightly better then stock which is kind of odd but makes sense. I was just wondering what all a person could do to maximize their battery life, that's all.

No worries! If you have trouble with idle battery drain, something like Juice Defender will help a lot if you're going to have the phone idle for extended periods of time. Other than that, all I can think of is underclocking (I run at 1350), and sometimes overclocking your min-CPU speed can help as well. The thought behind this is is that the CPU will be able to finish tasks faster, even if slightly, and then be able to go back into deep sleep. I know a lot of people on the Galaxy Nexus forums run 700min, 1000max because of this.

Thanks, I actually didn't know that, I also heard undervolting can increase battery life and reduce the battery/phone heating up but someone said that it can it will have a major effect on the CPU, not sure if it's true or not.

[Q] Cyanogenmod or Android Revolution 6 in terms of battery life

As mentioned, battery life is completely up to your usage. Some steps to try though which can be used across any rom is to give Rom Cleaner a shot and to use Greenify. This will rid any rom of bloat that could be sucking up battery and better allow the device to enter deep sleep where the real battery savings are had.
A well optimized kernel would give you some savings as well. I can personally say that on ARHD 5.5 with Elemental kernel .15 I'm seeing about 70% battery left at the end of a normal day. For me though that may only be one 20 minute call and an hour of screen on time. Even when flashing and messing with tons of settings for hours, the phone has never reached a critical battery level for me. I
It's more about the way you optimize (or debloat) your phone , than the ROM you are running. Use battery monitors like GSam or Battery Drain Analyzer and freeze apps that are causing you huge drain. Greenify is also good. Ideally on the M8 you can expect around 6 hours of screen time if you're optimized correctly.

This. I am able to get about 6 hours on stock, ARHD and Insertcoin. With power saver on, that ends up around 7-8 hours of screen time. Coming from a Nexus 5 that got 4 hours typically, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm inclined to believe ARHD will get "slightly" better battery life than CM since it is based off the stock ROM on the M8.
Generally the OEM skinned roms have better battery life and benchmark scores opposed to aosp. Happens all the time on Sammy phones and HTC apparently too. Posts above mine cover most you'll need to know. Its all about optimization and frankly that part is extremely fun and especially rewarding IMO. Gives me an idea for something like a community made thread on different battery tweaks/voltages :good:

Thanks for all the feedback guys
I'm currently using Android Rev. 6.1 odexed (using ART atm) with ElementalX 0.10. I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not, but after flashing ElementalX(with default settings) my battery life seems worse :/

How long does your battery last?

Well ever since I've got this phone I've been pretty impressed by the battery life. I get bored at work and tend to surf the Web or play games on my phone. My record was 29 hours without a charge with heavy usage but I didn't think to screen shot and share. But this round I've been playing clash of clans pretty heavily. Specifically in the last 4 hours I've been on the game for about 3 straight hours. I just wanted to see what other people's results are too.

I was using stock rooted KK, stock kernel, and stock settings. I broke down and upgraded back to lollipop in hopes of xposed being updated soon. I missed the features of lollipop. I was getting better battery life on lollipop so I'll put an updated picture after work sometime tomorrow.
How are you getting 29 hours? I updated to the nightly for CM12 and I went from 100% to 65% in about 2-3 hours. This is frightenly fast and enough to consider taking my 1 day old Note 4 back.
Cool thanks and any kernels used or just all stock?
Pretty well know if you're using Wi-Fi it'll help with battery life and taking back a perfectly good phone because you aren't getting the same results as someone else is crazy. Heavy user? Nah not really.

I use wifi a lot through out my day but there is about 4-5 hours on mobile network using Pandora
I'm a heavy user with usually no Wi-Fi available. I use my hotspot a little during the day, torrent sometimes, surf my usual forums and sites, and usually a lot of music through bt speaker or ear buds. If I get eight hours I'm happy and I do. My phone has never died. I'm on lollipop.
I usually average between 5-6 hours screen on time on mobile data & went as long as a little over 7 & half hours screen on time on wifi.

wow... I'm really surprised how long your batteries last. My Note 2 lasts 3-7hrs on the original battery and 10-18 with a 3x zero lemon. I got a S6 Edge the other day and the battery life doesn't make it through a festival day so I'm giving it up to get a note 4. People I talk to get excellent life with theirs. But why can't sammy get it together with the battery situation?

My girlfriend has the S6 and she can't even compare to my battery life. I'm not sure why either. Note 4 is a bigger screen and I'm on my phone more and I still out last her battery. But then again hers is unrooted and bloat packed. Maybe when she gets root and I optimize it some it'll improve.
Bigger battery helps a lot. Stop all sprint apps. Take it from there.

Note 2 had the best battery life ever hands down, & yeah been hearing a lot of horror stories about the atrocious battery life on the S6E. I was almost thinking of just giving my girl my Note 4 (she still has the Note 3) & using her available upgrade to grab the S6E on a 12 month lease, but after hearing ppl complain of only getting 2-3 hours screen on time out of it I quickly changed my mind. 2500mah sealed battery powering a 2K screen is ridiculous & Sammy should've never made the battery non removable.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
idk about best battery... When I'm on a debloated stock rom, I get 2-5hrs on a fully charged OG battery. When I switched to a ASOP based lollipop rom, I was getting 7hrs+ out of the OG battery, but then it started freezing. Now, my note 2 is not really charging. I'm hoping with a Note 4 + zero Lemon battery, I can get 14hrs+ out of it.

so, the battery drain is real...

I thought people were just exaggerating (i still have hope that i'm exaggerating) but man, i just got this phone and holy hell is the battery getting destroyed by "android os"
It won't even last a day with minimal/medium usage (some bluetooth and hotspot use here and there)
I'm coming from a galaxy s3 (which had better battery life).
I've tried installing a 5.1.1 rom but it seems to have no effect.
Has anyone figured out how to 'fix' this? Or can recommend a good rom (or kernel?) to get battery life representative of what i think a 3000 mah battery should be?
Thanks.

Greenify and the .97 OTA seems to provide decent battery life. Getting about 5 hours+ of SOT. Try using a separate app to see which apps are consuming the most battery and disable all the system apps you don't use.
I installed a barebones rom.
What concerns me is i had the same set up on my Galaxy S3 (5.1.1. lollipop with same apps), and the battery life on this zenfone has just been atrocious (leading me to believe 5.1.1 is not the problem, per se).
Am I wrong, did they not optimize this phone properly or something?
I do not have any issue with batery life. Mine last one day easy with medium to heavy use. Just do some charging cycles
I usually get a day with 4 to 6 hours SOT, without doing anything special to save battery
Do 3 drains to 1 % - you may find it stays longer during the lower 20% range so use a youtube film or sommat to blast it down,
then do a factory reset on the latest build.
Did this at the beginning when was only getting 10hrs max ugh !
Now easy 36hrs decent usage
I get a full days use (medium/heavy) with mine, not rooted not custom rom. I usually have about 20% left before it hits the charger. I have noticed small increases in battery life at every firmware update. I can't really complain, came from a Galaxy S5 and battery was about the same if not worst, but S5 had removeable battery. I've used a lot of smartphones and honestly, most will get your through the day and evening but that's about it, yeah, you might have some for the next day but most will through it on the charger by end of the night. My wife has the Iphone 4s and yeah, the battery lasts longer but the screen is almost half the size of mine, screen size makes a big dif.

General RAM boost, Much better battery

Hi folks
Since I disabled the RAM boost option, my battery feels so much better!
Version 11.2.8.8 Indian
Im with 75% screen brightning
QHD + 120Hz
Wifi - ON
4G - ON
Bluetooth - ON (Connected to device for 1 hour)
And my SOT is 4 Hour, 9 Min on 50% battery now.
7 Hours since last charged.
Finally some better battery life ...
Hope ONEPLUS will fix this problem. So we dont have to tweak settings for better battery life
I don't think it needs a fix. It's simply utilizing more RAM to prioritize and that alone will speed up battery drain. The OP9 Pro is meant for speed. Performance vs battery life is a constant battle. Try 50 percent brightness when your inside. Also do you have developers mode enabled
Developer enabled, yes, why?
You can make a few other tweaks to increase battery life. The four scale buttons you see can be brought down to .5 as well to save

Of course. Everything impacts the battery. The question is how much do you want to lower your viewing experience to save battery? That question can only be answered by the user.

That's going to make such a negligible impact on battery life lol. If you think that's helping a noticeable amount, you're kidding yourself
I never said it would make a huge impact. I'm just adding things in that people do to Maximize battery life. I personally do not throttle my performance. I enjoy it how it is and to fully charge takes less than 30 minutes
Wish I could say the same. RAM boost on or off I still average six hours of SOT
Every little thing can add up to a better battery experience...
Animation OFF will give you some plus in speed too. I keep them off for years. It's usselles for me.
