Greetings,
The music I am playing will pause randomly when using the phones and/or other media players. Some of the pauses are more pronounced and frequent than others depending on which music I am listening to at any period. on rare occasions the Bluetooth function will cycle off and on, as well as the player will stay on pause. The problem is only when I am using the Bluetooth function of the phone (no issue using plug in headsets). The problem is present using several types of bleutooth headsets (LG HS700, and Samsung HM7000). The format of the files I am playing are either 192 to 320 kbps mp3, or max quality vbr mp3. I performed a factory reset of the phone with no change in the problem. The issue seems to be narrowed down to my Generic stores external Micro SD card i am using to store my media files (Micro center 32GB HC) . I copied one of my more consistantly pausing music file to the phone's internal memory. The problem was no longer detected. I have a 16GB internal RAM GSIII. Is there a way to compensate for this problem by somehow changing the cache in the phone?
Indtal SD Booster from the store and set the cache to either 1024 or 2048. I think it'll let you set on boot do reboot and give it a try.
It does the same thing as changing the value for read_ahead_kb that some init.d scripts will do for you.
You do need to be rooted.

If that doesn't help, try reformatting the card. Otherwise you may just need a better one.
I personally never trust generic brand sdcards. They can be much more finicky and can fail much sooner.
Also, for the gs3 I'd get a Class 10 card, but Class 6 would be ok too.

Greetings Docholiday77,
Thanks for your response and suggestion. My SD card is a class 10 card. I have been really nervous about rooting my phone. I have been content with my stock setup. Any suggestions as to a rooted firmware that is close to stock?

Yup! Click the firmware link in my signature. The first group will be under root66. These are official firmware, only pre-rooted. So it'll be just like you have now, plus the power of root.
You can find instructions for using Odin to flash in that thread, or click the root66 link for the original thread which also has them.
And feel free to post any questions you have there as well.

Greetings DocHoliday77,
Well, I took the plunge and rooted my phone, per your suggestion. The process was smooth. I install the software you recommended, but the problem is still there after I maxed out my cache with SDBooster. Guess I'll chock it up to my SD card. At some point I will try a SanDisk with the same amount of memory to see if the problem is still there. For the time being, I will put my favorite music files on the phones internal memory. Thank you for your suggestions and recommendations.

This is a Nandroid of the leaked JellyBean UVDLI3 with SU already installed. BusyBox can easily be installed by grabbing it off the market and installing....self explainatory. I will put this up for those who will find it easier to simply Nandroid restore and also for Devs who want access to it to do work on themselves instead of having to Odin back to stock, flash the update, Nandroid, pull it and use it.
One issue that you are bound to notice immediately is the constant haptic feedback. Solution to this is to open the SuperUser app and check mark "temp unroot". If you have SuperSU installed as well, do the same in that app. Then, wait a second and uncheck it on SuperUser and on SuperSU. Stops it. Stupid and pain in the ass but it seems to happen whenever you reboot the phone.
Other then that, the ROM is extremely fast and smooth. Some nice newer features. Obviously haven't tested battery life yet but will be out all day tomorrow with the wife for her birthday so we shall see.
Anyway, enjoy!

Ah! ****, I'm sorry guys. I had WiFi on. When I was going through settings I just realized it says "Baseband Unknown". It's doing the same thing it did when we first tried building or first custom ROM for this phone.
I can't for the life of me remember what it was that caused it, and I know it was something simple.
Canceling the upload now. Really sorry guys, if I could get a hold of Wild really quick I would fix it because I'm sure he knows what it is. Unfortunately I'm sure he's not online and I have to be up really early.
I apologize for jumping the gun, I had the upload already going as soon as the ROM booted up.

If anyone needs a Nandroid of it, though (which may still be easier for you guys instead of having to Odin back to stock then update) I'll link the one I'm uploading.
It already has SU....and I believe BusyBox (if not, you just have to grab BusyBox Free from the market).
Should work just fine.
Also, for any developers who need it instead of having to Odin back to stock and all that good stuff.
I'll put that in the OP instead.

No problem man. Sorry the ROM itself didn't work though! I feel bad, got peoples hopes up. I'm sure its something really stupid and simple that is doing it, I remember it being something simple but it's been so long since I had this problem that I can't remember what it is.
Hey red, you might want to try reinstalling it. Ive got baseband t999uvli3

Well it works fine for me, but the ROM I cooked up really quick had no baseband. Hence why I pulled it :/
I'm uploading the Nandroid instead for whoever needs it to use. The Nandroid should work perfectly fine (I've restored it twice and it worked perfectly).
Kind of a dumb question but we won't have CWM with this right?

If you Nandroid restore, yes, you will.
If you Odin back to pure stock then flash the update that leaked, no, you will not. You would have to root it again and install the CWM and SuperUser.

I was thinking bout throwing this on for a min though, just a quick peek and maybe pull the modem.
You said it says baseband unknown, if you flash a different modem like UVLH3, will it work? Just a guess but sounds like something happened to it during update maybe?

Dear all,
On Aug 6, 2012 I had purchased One V as an immediate replacement to my Nokia 5230.
There were two reasons why I had purchased this phone
It was an Android.
It was HTC phone.
I was overall not satisfied with the performance of the phone as there was a good amount of lag time. By performance I do not mean games or videos. I mean the time taken to load the "All Apps" menu when i touch/press the key.
Hence I upgraded its Software to 2.24.720.1. Trust me this decision was one which i regret badly, reason, the performance went from bad to sluggish.
I was asked to do 'Hard Reset' by HTC Call Center and did the same as per the procedure given in the mail.
This hardly made any difference to the performance.
Today I had been to the service center of the HTC, they too did same and yet again the performance is sluggish.
Now here is what i seek your help at:
Will rooting and installing Gingerbread help in overcoming this issue?
If yes, please help further.
You can't install Gingerbread. Switching to another launcher mgiht help, or installing another ROM such as Cyanogenmod but these are still in beta and will void your warranty.
Start with the launcher and see if it helps.

The launcher is the application that you see when you use your phone, there are several launchers on Android.
Here's an example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
I personally found go launcher and apex launcher to be the best fits for me when I first got the phone. Apex is a bit snazzier looking, go a bit calmer looking but a bit faster as far as what I recall. Haven't used Go in awhile though but I hear it's still in good shape.
How bad is the lag? I noticed once in awhile there would be a slight delay but really I havent had any problems with my One V as far as speed is concerned. If you are waiting like 5 seconds every time you try to do anything it could be a deeper problem. If its just a momentary lag then it could just be that the phone isn't as powerful as the top end phones.
I know that feel bro....i felt the same way.....i was scared to root it, but it was the best decision i ever made, i overclocked it, installed custom rom and its just awesome.....

Pls help on overclocking
I imagine rooting and putting a better kernel/rom on it would help regardless, but if its actually lagging 5-10 seconds per click you might consider getting it checked at a store. Maybe others can give some insight but I know my One V never lagged 10 seconds even with stock software on it unless I was starting a relatively intense app/game. normal opening of browsers, im, sms, phone, etc might have lagged a couple seconds but rarely/never 5-10 and I never had to restart the phone daily. If you've already started rooting it will possibly fix the problems anyways since sometimes its a software install issue but if you still have a pristine device might be worth getting it checked since rooting and unlocking the bootloader (required to root) void the warranty)
Also, overclocking is done by putting a custom kernel on your phone which allows for overclocking. There are a ton of tutorials that are more well written than anything we'd post for you in here. Very well explained step by step guides for the one v specifically.

Did all that already.
I finally got it, though. In Rom Toolbox, I had set the apps to install to the SD card and apparently, in 4.2.2 or...who knows when, the last OS I was using was Gingerbread on my Amaze 4G, well, anyway, 4.2.2 doesn't like TRYING to install apps to the SD card. It stupidly wants to fill up the phones internal storage, and not use the SD card at all, I guess. Well, anyway, I changed it to Auto, and I was able to install and update again. Sheesh. What a headache this mess is.
That would explain it

Just curious - supposing he had a nandroid backup on an SD card. Is there possibly a way he could connect his phone and SD card to his puter, copy the nandroid from SD to puter, then insert the nandroid directly into the phone and then try to start it up again?

Just curious - supposing he had a nandroid backup on an SD card. Is there possibly a way he could connect his phone and SD card to his puter, copy the nandroid from SD to puter, then insert the nandroid directly into the phone and then try to start it up again?

this would be done with cmd right?
There's a guy on eBay that does jtag, for cheap, many good reviews and fatty service, he's in Texas. I'm not advocating for him just saying there's a cheaper solution.

Did you get the ROM in this forum? If not, (if you got it in one of the xperia forums for example), then you probably have bricked it. In the future, ONLY flash things that are specifically made for your model device.

I really doubt it would be that simple. But I think I understand what you are getting at. It would entirely depend on what was flashed. If the rom he flashed was scripted to flash to mmcblk0p2 or mmcblk0p7 for example, there is no way something like that would help. But even if something less sensitive was overwritten, such as /system, as long as it did not screw up the partition layout, you would likely still have access to recovery and download mode.
The more I think about it, the more I believe theres no way to make that work if the device is truly bricked.

There are probably quite a few different places online. And I'm all for saving money, but the reason I only ever mention mobiletechvideos is because theyre the only ones who people have mentioned around here in the past. And everyone who did use them and posted here about it said it was a good, fast service. If there were other places mentioned where someone actually used them, I'd mention both by name. But until someone does, the only place Ive seen reviewed by XDA members in our forums remains mobiletechvideos.com. Its up to the customer to decide.
