is it always on by default or is there a setting for it? I don't notice anything different really.. except the speakers blow the original nexus 7 away lol but yeah.. doesn't sound surround or anything even with headphones on?

It is def on. I noticed surround sound when I was showing me son the Madagascar trailer. Different sounds were coming out from each speaker. Try watching the Madagascar video. Its in the movies play store.

different sounds in each speaker is just stereo, which is what these are.. they say there's simulated surround sound though. that's what I don't notice

I did some of my own tests with the new virtual surround sound (hereafter referred to as Cingo) and I figured it would help some others if I shared my findings-
1.a. Cingo currently only works from within the Play Movies app. Playing videos with YouTube/MXPlayer/etc. will not enable virtual surround.
b.i. Cingo can be enabled for your own videos by selecting "Personal videos" from the menu in the Play Movies app and selecting your video file. Select the stock video player app to play the file.
b.ii. Opening the stock video player from outside Play Movies will not enable Cingo. Cingo will only be enabled after following the steps outlined in b.i.
2. Virtualized surround will only work with discrete surround tracks; matrixed audio (e.g., Pro Logic) will not be decoded into surround channels.
So for encoding your own videos, you'll want to stick with mp4 container for compatibility with the stock video player. Some of the literature I read seemed to suggest that HE-AAC is required but, LC-AAC works just fine. H.264 High Profile L4.1 seems like a good encode level for the Nexus 7. L5.0 is just a bit too demanding, I experienced frame drops at that level.
The surround effect is noticeable when playing through the speakers but where it really shines is when listening with headphones. I tried watching some FPS gameplay (BF3) captured in surround and also the lobby scene from The Matrix and came away fairly impressed.

Ive been using this music player for a couple of days, and i've gotta say:
I really like it.
MUSIC PLAYER FOR PAD
My only gripe is no APE support, but i can live with that.
It has a few Visualizer settings, Equalizer and supports MP3, WAV, OGG, MID, MP4, M4A, 3GP, FLAC, AAC, WMA, FLAC, AAC, and WMA.
Works well with Ice Cream Sandwich and Large Screen devices...

Doesnt support folders as far as I could see it just imports all the songs into one LONGG list..
Doesnt make them very easy to sort or view and the buttons are a bit small on the Nexus but it might look better on a tablet for which its designed for
Looks nice but I uninstalled it after 5 minutes lol.
Mark.
Quite nice but doesn't work well on the GN. Buttons are just too small. Also no controls on the lockscreen. The default player seems to be the only player to support that feature.
What's wrong with the stock player?

i'll give it a miss then!
Works for my needs. All my music is tagged correctly so i usually just dump it all the FLACs and MP3s into one folder and shuffle play. Done!
Simple player for my simple needs
I've been using PowerAMP since it was released first time round and I love it. This app could turn me away from PowerAMP...hmm. Thanks for the heads up on this.
I have been looking for a FLAC player for the G Nex for so long..This seems like a good option Thanks! :good:

Nice music app. Some of my album art is missing but I will fix it with the itag app. App is real fast and real loud curious to see what the future updates will be. Definitely a nice find. Would like to see a better widget.

Not working very nice together with CM9 player. Makes it force close.
Very nice and cool player. Thanks man.
Love this player!!! if its 2 dollars or lesser im paying for it sure!
Pretty sweet UI, certainly unique. I'm not a fan of the font used but if the font is all I can complain about that's saying something. Will certainly give this a few rounds round the block.
Thanks for the heads up.
i always thought playerpro with the pure white skin looked the cleanest. it also now has support for the native ICS lockscreen controls.
but now after uploading my library to google music, not bothering with third party players
This app reads personal information and sensitive log data. Why does this music player need that?
Poweramp and others music players do not ask for this permission!
I got a question
What is the difference between this player and the original player??
looks interesting.. i just don't see the point. spotify and stock music synced with cloud is solid.
Tried this player on both my Gnex & Razr - It's not as good as Poweramp on either phone.
This is a pretty good player, the lock screen is pretty cool. That being I am having problems with the lock screen when I want to access the phone. I turn on the screen, then select unlock. After that it takes me to facial recognition only to fail but not let me enter my pattern. I have to reboot my phone so I could get into it. Because of this I had to uninstall. The lock screen problems seems to happen when playing music, but I have always been able to find a way around it. Not this time.
looking forward to more development on this. already using it and i like it.
bk
Edit: working nicely now
Sent by me, for me and i love you
Hi All,
We have recently released a new tablet friendly android app to stream videos and music directly from PC to your Android device.
The app supports HTTP Live streaming and can live transcode pretty much all the video formats. Let us know your feedback.
The apk is attached. Let us know your feedback.

Let us know your feedback. we have not tested with custom ROMs. If you are running Tonido already uninstall your old one and install the attached apk or get it from the google play store.
The streaming quality is very impressive! I played a 1080p mkv with my nexus 7 tethered to my S3. The only slight issue I am having is that the video pauses whenever I get a popup notification, and when I start it again it jumps forward a couple of minutes in the video. Is there any way to give an option to let the video continue to play notifications come through?

Music streaming is working great. Playback is pretty much instant, and the sound quality is awesome. Music does not seem to be affected by incoming popup notifications. It continues to play while the notifications come through.

So far, I have noticed that Sky Go Tablet doesn't work and from the Sky forums it appears that it doesn't work for any Nexus device that has 4.4.3

There was an update to MX Player that now works with 4.4.3
Did anyone else notice that Google Currents was in the 4.4.3 update? I know that google stopped supporting it a long time ago. It just seems odd that its still there even though it directs you to the play newsstand as it has been for a while.
I just notice battery usage (probably due to cpu usage) is significantly higher in certain games ( specifically from 30-40% to 60-70% on average)
Skype isn't working too well in video calls for me. The aspect ratio of the front facing camera is screwed up and makes my face look fat when the tablet's in portrait mode, and skinny in landscape mode. Also, if I send Skype to the background while in a call (using the back arrow) to do something else then it stops transmitting video from my tablet.
I'm having issues with the email client crashing. It's has crashed a few times on me since loading 4.4.3.

-It's work fine on all others Android phones I own but this Nexus 7 II.
-Not sure that CC is crash on on Tablet only because I own only Nexus 7 II.

Hi,
This is my experience with N5X while streaming music through bluetooth to my new Car (Ford Figo 2015 -India).
Play quality - Good so far
Connection Establishment - Good so far
Upload Contacts to Headunit - 100% works
Display song track info - Doesn't work
I have seen devices like LG G2 (5.0 android), Iphones (4,5s,6), Samsung Galaxy Young(cheapest samsung running Jelly bean) connect and stream music info while playing music.
However my older Nexus 4 and my new nexus 5x seems to be hitting roadblock.
Please correct me if i am wrong, but below are my points that could be the root cause of this issue
1. MP3 Players(AVRCP support)
I have tried almost all renowned Music players from Playstore. Tried all bluetooth assistance apps along with them still no luck.
2. Bluetooth Stack
N5x is not listed : https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6048862?hl=en
AVRCP version is not up to date ?
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/nexus/_t1ufKwSqU8/76g7UPtwAQAJ
3. Bluedroid(previously BlueZ)
Bluedroid is still in its infancy and bluetooth stack not being upgraded, hence?
Please share your experience with N5X on Song track Info, maybe we could collate all information in this thread.
2016 Volkswagen Jetta with Nexus 5x here, track info displays over bluetooth when playing music files, haven't tested streaming audio or video. No special add-on apps or settings for bluetooth, using Shuttle+ as a music player.
