Ok so I rooted and unlocked my e970. From there I uninstalled the at&t bloatware. After awhile I noticed I didn't have a data connection anymore. I used the phones factory data reset and all those apps are back but Im still not getting a data connection. I use Straight talk.

This forum isn't for at&t /sprint phones it's only for the international version e975 and canadian one e973. However if you messed up uninstalling something that wasn't meant to be uninstalled a factory reset doesn't do the trick. You have to re-flash your original rom (or a custom one if you want). Anyway follow guides and /or ask for help for AT&T Lg optimus G at the XDA forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1921

Hello, I recently purchased a rooted and unlocked Tmo T999 on Swappa for use on my AT&T plan. I can get voice and sms, but no data.
The phone I had previously was an HTC Inspire 4G with a data plan, and from what I've read in the forums, the T999 should be able to use the same data plan as the Inspire (no LTE, just HSPA+). I had to get a new SIM card, since the Inspire uses a regular sized card. I called AT&T and had a CSR confirm that the IMEI they had registered for the new Sim matched the T999's. The CSR also provided an APN to try (wap.cingular), but it didn't work. I've also tried the pta and phone APN's, to no avail. I tried each of the APN's on various ROMS (root66's UVDMD5 and UVALH2 rooted stock firmwares (flased via ODIN), CM10.1.3, and LiquidSmooth 2.10). With each firmware I did a full data wipe/cache wipe/dalvik wipe before trying the APN settings. I also did a factory reset (via *2767*3855#) on the UVDMD5 and UVALH2 firmwares. They reset successfully, but still didn't get data. What's strange is that when I did the factory reset on UVDMD5 and UVALH2, the CyanogenMod SG3 bootscreen came up momentarily before resetting, even when I tried using stock kernels. The T999 came loaded with CM 10.1, but I do not know what method was used to achieve root or unlock for the phone. I've been working on this obsessively for three days, and I've read through several posts on this forum and others, but I still can't make this work. Can anybody help me?
If you are trying to use apn's from those T999 roms, you are just getting the T-Mobile apn's all over again.
Go to the AT&T forum and find what their correct apn is, then try that.

Oh and generally it doesn't matter how you factory reset, they all reboot and use the current recovery. Just sayin cause I don't suggest using dialer codes for things like this. Too easy to make a mistake and potentially cause even more problems.
The boot screen comes up because factory resetting reboots recovery. Perfectly normal.

Hello all,
Sorry if this was asked before but i couldnt find it in the search as its coming up with numerous returns on something else.
Anyways, I bought an AT&T s3 rooted and i was able to put it back to stock with Android 4.0.4. After i put it back to stock i got it unlocked to use on T-Mobile.
My questions are,
how do i update the software to the latest version. do i update it with AT&T software or do i use the T-Mobile software version?
If I update it again will it get locked again?
Rooting is not really an option as it is for my daughters use
thank you in advance for any replies,

Once your phone is unlocked, it stays unlocked always even after firmware upgrades. If the phone is rooted, it means you can install custom firmware. If you want to stay on stock, however, you should stick to the AT&T versions. With a valid AT&T sim and as long as the IMEI is clean, you should be able to get OTA upgrade to the latest version (currently 4.3) via WiFi. I didn't have any problem doing this on my unlocked AT&T even with an unfunded albeit valid sim.
You can't install a custom ROM just by having root. You need to have a custom recovery installed in order to install a custom ROM.
Look under About Phone to determine whether the phone is identified as an i747 or t999.
thanks for the replies.
I know how to root a phone but I dont want it to be rooted as its for my daughter. thanks.
@audit13 - model # shows samsung-sgh-1747, so should i update it with AT&T software even though i am going to use it on T-Mobile.
thanks

Is it running stock AT&T software? If it is, you can update it but you may not get 3g data on the phone without enabling aws.

Do you have a data plan with T-Mobile? If you are not in an area with T-Mobile's 4G, you may one get Edge unless you enable the 1700 mhz band on the phone.

If I recall correctly it is around page 28 or so there is a post by tmokeith that has everything you would need to enable the 1700mhz aws wcdma band. There is some risk involved so please read, read and read it again.

I have done stupid things in my life, but this may top them.
I purchased an used AT&T Optimus G Pro (E980) few days ago. I bought it unlocked and was using it on T-Mobile network without any problem. I live around the area where I get LTE. AND I was getting LTE. I was successful in rooting it and was in the process of installing a custom recovery when I softbricked. No problem, right?
1. I first tried to use (TOT) found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420219 to get back to E980 stock. I could not get past 25% no matter what.
2. I then used (KDZ) to install F240L firmware. Dumb. I know, but at the time I did not know better.
3. I then used (KDZ) again to install E988. I had signal but only 2G speed.
4. I then used (TOT) to flash E980 stock. Great, but no signal. I tried various stuffs to get the signal working. I flashed all AT&T modems found. I tried installing different custom ROMs. I tried using dial pad method. I tried modifying bulidprop, but nothing is working.
5. I have also tried flashing Taiwan KDZ, Hong Kong KDZ, Central America KDZ, Panama KDZ, and German KDZ. I also tried 3 different AT&T TOT files. I can get signal on Taiwan & Hong Kong KDZ, but no signals on others.
6. I have successfully rooted my phone using Towelroot. I have installed SuperSu, BusyBox, an GPRO Kitkat Recvery.
6. Also, when I tried to flash different recoveries, it fails. PhilZ Touch CWM fails, and my phone is being recognized as the LG F240L and does not let me install at all even though I fully flashed Taiwan KDZ file (E988). LG 240L KDZ file is the first one I flashed when the AT&T TOT failed to flash.
I have no idea what I can do to get my LTE back. If someone can give any advise to get my modem work right, I would appreciate it. I am game to flashing any fimwares or trying different roms or anything.
Thanks.
Any help or suggestion is really appreciated.

Hello, I hope you already solved your problem by the time I'm writing this, but if you haven't, here is some extras to consider.
It could be funny to think about it, but it happens to everyone, we do everything we should, and we forget the basic stuff.
For basic stuff I'm referring to going into network preferences and setting up 4G/LTE as preferred network, you may also try to scan networks and see if a 4G/LTE network is on the list for your carrier, and obviously select it, if you don't see 4G networks then there could be an issue with your modem-rom combination, try something else.
Other thing is the APN, remember to set up the proper APN, maybe your phone had the proper setup when it came to you first but you wiped it all when you started flashing roms.
There are other advanced options that I haven't used to try to set 4G as preferred networks, but since I don't have 4G with my carrier I haven't had your problems to know they are, be sure to google them or search here on XDA.
Hope this helps bro!, let us know what works for you of if you still need ideas.

Thanks for your suggestion! I have an option to select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto which has been selected. I have also manually entered the correct APN setting. I think I had messed up my phone when I flashed F240L firmware, but I am still looking for a way to get it start working properly again if possible.

Thanks for your help. I had already tried them all. Nothing is working.
can u tell us which model is it by removing battery and reading the label?
Hi- I'm an apologetic noob
Just got a sprint galaxy s6, activated it (all seemed to work), then rooted it with cfautoroot. Flashed via ODIN the CF-Auto-Root-zerofltetmo-zerofltetmo-smg920t.tar (which i guess is the t-mobile one).
Unfortunately, somehow wifi was lost-- it seems to turn on, but just keeps searching and never finds any networks (there are plenty near me). Phone and bluetooth seem to work fine.
I had read that there would likely be problems with deep sleep after root, so i thought the wifi might be part of it, and i tried to flash proactively G920PVPU1AOCF_G920PSPT1AOCF_G920PVPU1AOCF_HOME.tar.md5
that just lost me root access, but didn't restore wifi.
so i reflashed the CF-autoroot.
Now it says i have
android version 5.0.2
and baseband version g920pvpu1a0cf
hardware version g920p02
am rooted again
but wifi is still lost
It may be because of my efforts to 'restore' from TiBu (possibly because also of things like xposed framework which doesn't work with touchwiz)
anyway- can anyone help a clueless noob?
(sorry if in wrong section)
thanks
lost wifi after root
sorry- i meant lost wifi after root, not wifi radio

thanks so much for the reply
didn't work unfortunately
i just re-flashed the only stock i see available (via sammobile) from here
xxx (the sammobile site- it won't let me post link) /firmwares/database/SM-G920P/
wasn't any wifi back even without root. rooting didn't change it.
is there another 'stock' somewhere?
Solution?.... hard factory reset
so
i finally essentially gave up and tried a hard factory reset which erased all data.
the good news is wi-fi reappeared. I will try to root again and hope it was just a glitch in the process.
wish me luck, thanks for the help, and I hope my experience helps someone else.
Hello,
I followed this guide to restore my sprint LG G2 to stock Kitkat 4.4.2. Everything went fine, the phone is working, the only problem I have is that I can't connect to any network. The phone is not recognizing any of the local network providers. I bought this phone on ebay and it came with a custom rooted rom installed on it, so I decided to "clean up the mess" and restored stock kitkat. As I mentioned before everything went fine, but the network is not working (it was working with the android version before i restored stock 4.4.2). Maybe its because I'm not living in the USA (I'm from Bosnia/Europe). Should I flash a different radio on it? The phone is updating atm with OTA and I'm pretty sure that the updates wont help. Did anyone else had these issues? Any help would be highly appreciated.
Update: My phone just got upgraded to Lollipop, but the network issue is still present
Update 2: I just reinstalled "cm-12.1-20151031-NIGHTLY-ls980" Lollipop 5.1.1. and it had no problems to find all the networks in my area, so this clearly has to do with stock LG android 4.4.2.
When you say you can't connect to network, are you referring to your mobile carrier network, or like WiFi?
If it's your mobile carrier that you can't connect to, you might need to switch your radio. Take a look at this guide and the section about using radio switcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/help/how-sprint-lg-g2-ls980-to-t-mobile-t3230685

Hey there. Sorry for the late response. I kinda gave up on making the stock LG ROM work, which is why I kept on using CM12.1 . What I was referring to was my mobile carrier. The phone has no problems connecting to any WiFi signal.
I didn't try to flash any radios at all after restoring the LG G2 stock ROM. Maybe I should have tried one of the radios from this CM12.1 for LG G2 tutorial. Here is a direct LINK to the full list of LG G2 radios, where I downloaded the radio for my phone. I'm not sure if the other LS980 Radios would work on my device. There are 4 different radios available for the LG G2 LS980.
Do you think flashing one of these radios would help solving this problem after restoring the LG stock ROM?
