Hello, I have been searching for 1 day now for a fix before I post this, Earlier I tried to get my stock ICS 4.0.4 S3 from dubai to become rooted and I managed to screw up..
I used the samsung GS3 toolkit and i straight away went and dpressed the international gsm option, which is 4.0.4 and build first 6 letters were the same but last were different (they were PING)..
I pressed option 2 (Root my phone) and then i pressed number 3 which is ALLINONE [flash insecure boot recovery etc.] I pressed clockwork mod and super user and it said it would create a tar file to flash in Odin..
It said usb debugging must be on etc and i followed all the instructions but somehow my phone got soft rooted and I can only go into download mode.
I have tried to use ODIN to flash a stock rom (823mb) but I have no luck I get the error message FAIL and on the phone on the download mode it says in red - unsupport dev_type.......... and I have tried everywhere to find a fix for this.. I am in a country with slow internet so it takes me like 3 hours to download a stock rom but i am sure i downloaded the right one for my device(XSG for united arab emirates).
I tried my best to explain and find a solution sorry if there was already a post on this but i couldnt find any after searching this whole time and thank you. I will try to give more information if necessary.
What does all the info on the screen in download mode say?
What was the file name of the rom you downloadefld?

You have AT&T (SGH -747) model, not international (I9300) and the file you downloaded is for international version.

So i found a quick solution and I am posting here in case anyone has the same problem as me in the future,
I downloaded the right files in the S3 toolkit and then pressed the root option 2, and then pressed number 3 ALLINONE.
I pressed the recommended options TWRP and SuperSU and then it created a tar file, I can't access ADB so from there i just went on Odin and used the file that was created and pushed it through.
Thanks for your help guys

As you are getting Galaxy Gio splash screen, its just a soft brick. Make sure you've installed Samsung Kies and make sure its not running in background (Check the Taskbar systray) while you run Odin. Download the firmware from sammobile.com and install as mentioned in Tutorial (You may find it in the Galaxy Gio section)
Dont use the pit its from later galaxy models
Make sure u flash galaxy gio FW and look for the guides in thr GIO section

No... There was no water damage, only 1 drop 2 years ago which the phone survived. It was from knee height. I flashed the S5660KKT3 baseband through Odin. Is it the right one? Also, my phone was broken and I got it repaired. when it came back the signal was 5 bars, when I put my SIM card in, but when I installed maclaw's cm9 it was poor. Reboots seem to fix the problem.
my friend tried to root his T999 but messed up on a step im guessing so now his phone will boot straight to odin mode. i tried putting it in download mode and use odin3 to restore it back to stock but odin3 would get stuck at the "nand write start" stage. his phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." when it is powered up. does anybody know how to fix this issue?? any help would be great! i googled everything that i could think of and tried everything that was suggested but nothing works! thanks in advance!!

Contradictory. Is it in download mode or isn't it?
You did not say what was being flashed with Odin, either.
Phones do not boot into ODIN. You will have to provide more info so we can help.
Links to the ROM or software you used etc.
ok i shouldve explained this a little more clearly. when i power on the phone it says this...
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T999
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (10 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
so i pulled the battery, put it in download mode (vol down + home + power) ran ODIN3, and tried to flash SGH-T999_TMB_T999UVALH2_T999TMBALH2_Original (which is a stock image) thats when it gets stuck at the NAND write start!!
I could be completely wrong but it appears you tried to install an incompatible rom.
are you talking about the SGH-T999_TMB_T999UVALH2_T999TMBALH2_Original file?

If I understand correctly you flashed that after the first one. I'm not a IT guy, but to the best of my understanding if you flash a ROM intended for another device you are going to have major issues. Sorry. I know my answers are not what you are looking for. For reference, Recovery Log is stored in /Cache/Recovery folder.
I'm trying to downgrade my i747 from CM11 back to stock AT&T firmware but I'm unable to. I've done hours of searching and reading posts, coming up with dead ends.. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I can't seem to find an official original AT&T image, I did find a "rooted leaked" image.. but when I try to flash it with Oden it fails and the phone says "SW New Check Fail: Fused 2 > binary 0"
I ran the triangle away, tried a few different roms... I can re-image CM but not anything older. Is there a thread that explains where I can find the proper AT&T stock rom and roll back from CM11?
If you have the stock 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use Odin to flash a stock AT&T 4.3 ROM because AT&T never made a flashable 4.3 ROM available. AT&T only made 4.3 available as an OTA update to an existing ROM.
Thanks, so what are my options if any? I installed the CM11 through their http://get.cm site so I'm not sure what exactly they're doing but the end result is I have CM11, ODIN for the updater, and CWM. Can I downgrade to an older version then and just perform carrier updates to 4.3? If not is it safe to flash some other third party ROM? Or am I stuck on CM11?
-Keith
Boot into download mode and let us know what it says on the screen. This will help us determine if you have the 4.3 bootloader on your phone.

I'm thinking of trying the approach that I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
Unless any reason's why I shouldn't, it seems people have been successful with that pseudo 'stock' build.
Based on your download info screen, you have the 4.3 bootloader and the link you provided would be a good choice.
If you didn't have the 4.3 bootloader, you could have flashed a stock 4.1.1 ROM via Odin. With a 4.3 bootloader, you cannot use Odin.
I tried that link but the flash failed..
format() expects 3 args, got 5
E:Error in /external_sd/ATT_i747_UCUEMJB_StockRestore_CWM_2282014.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.
Ugh..
Status 7 errors can be caused by using an outdated recovery.
I have 6.0.4.7 installed and downloaded the ZIP that says it's for that version but I keep getting the same error.
Maybe the ROM download is corrupt?

Did you verify the MD5 of the zip you downloaded? I haven't seen any other report of this not working as it is the definitive solution for returning to stock 4.3.It's possible your download wasn't complete or, as Audit suggested, the zip was corrupted in some way.
I downloaded a different recovery as suggested and was able to flash that way. I'm finally back on the pseudo-stock AT&T firmware and aside from one strange popup everything seems to be working great. Thanks for the help everyone,

I assume you can boot into download mode so use the latest tar version of Philz to flash recovery. Philz is based off the latest CWM.
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/
Place the file in the PDA box, don't check anything except F.reset. Flash the file, once you see reset in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery.

First you'll need to know which bootloaders you're on.
Get terminal emulator and type in:
Code:
su
getprop ro.bootloader
That will tell us which version you have to flash.
Stock firmwares can be found here or on sammobile.com

Did you first check which bootloaders who had like I mentioned?
What version of "stock" did you flash?
Did you factory reset in recovery?

Where did you get the ROM zip? Were you running a stock or custom recovery? What bootloader was on your phone? Are you sure the ROM was for your i747?
Similar issue, not bricked please advise

I have same basic question as OP. I am currently running CM 11 7/27 nightly. Bootloader is I747UCUEMJB. Custom Recovery is TWRP 2.7.0.0 I recently requested and received carrier unlock code from AT&T and have not been able to unlock. I am very happy with current state and would like to return as configured after change to enable unlock. After running TriangleAway, when booting into download, the following is listed:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I747
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: OFFICIAL
QUALCOMM SECURE BOOT: ENABLE
WARRANTY BIT: 1
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2
Advice as to how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
