I would love to have the idea sketch images from my Galaxy Note II or Note 8 onto my PC so I can use them in Infographics and presentations. Anyone know if this is possible?
Take a screenshot of the competed sketch and email it to yourself? Also. Since they are saved on the device I think you can just do a USB transfer

Most images are downloaded to your device, which leads me to think you can find them using something like root explorer. Just a theory, though.
Depening on how ¨big¨, meaning if they fit on the screen at once, your sketches are, you could just hold the button on the pen pressen and draw the dotted line around your sketch. If you close the loop, the circled content automatically gets cut and you are able to share it as a image via the usual channels (G-Mail, Evernote and so on).
On the other hand you should also to be able to just share the whole note via the share button, but I don`t know which app you are using.
If you then share it to dropbox, the images will get synced to your pc automatically
what about plain old export to jpg or pdf?

I am in love with the functionality of taking notes with a pen, and think S Pen works for most parts.
What has been worrying me more and more is how to ensure that some form of backup happens regularly because I am taking work notes mostly. Looking at some of the threads on Samsung sync wiping out notes from the Note it's a bit scary.
Looking for ideas how can this process be automated. At least maybe PDF versions can be saved.. or any other tools we should use ? I wish Google had a S Notes version lol
Can't answer your questions as I haven't explored S Note enough... but I recommend you use Lecture Notes instead, from my limited experience I would say it is superior to S Note especially with the extensive ability to customize how the app functions to suit your needs. Using the S Pen button to switch between pen, eraser, and cutter is ace!
Didn't try, but there is at least one app that supposedly syncs Card folders to Dropbox (DropSpace)

Didn't know that... awesome.
So can you auto save / automate PDF saves?
basically how do you save it for long term?

It auto saves, and you can specify the interval. However, this is just auto saving your notebooks. From the Notebook board you can import/export notebooks, share notebooks, or back them up as pdf.
I can't find any setting to automate the backup process, but as far as I know there are no issues with losing notebooks in Lecture Notes, and they auto save by default.
You could always get hold of the developer - I believe they have a thread here on xda and ask if it's possible to include auto backup as a feature in a future update?

Just coy them to ext sd card you'll never lose them then

I'm using 'Write'. It only has a pen option though, no way to insert text. But, what is fantastic about it is that creates pure html/svg files on the sd card. You can copy and open them in your browser, without needing to export as pdf or whatever. I use FolderSync to automatically copy these files to my laptop every couple of hours, so I can refer to those notes whenever I want to.
On My N5100 Notes are by default stored on sdcard in the folder: S Note (path: /sdcard0/S Note)
so all you need to do is backup that folder to a cloud or alternate storage manually or using sync apps like Dropspace (for dropbox) or FolderSync (for dropbox, gdrive, and others, It even supports local network shares over samba, couldn't get any better).
Edit:
Forgot to mention that: Samsung Kies will also backup your notes to your computer, however good/stable that is , is still an open question though!
Using S-Note and a Samsung account, it's trivial to do cloud sync. I could throw my Note 8 in the trash, get a new one, and sync my stuff. The limitations of manually syncing (share -> appname) to things like Dropbox and Evernote aside. A less productive but more handwriting centric app called Quill even offers automated Evernote sync I believe. Sketchbook Ink can also sync its stuff with Dropbox, although it's rather minimalist all around.
YMMV with other apps. In S-Note's case, just use a Samsung account.

you're right, and the sync is perfect, i.e. until this happens (re-quoted from this thread):

I had a backup with titanium only to find out it doesnt backup the actual notes on the sdcard...
I decided to use dropsync to upload the actual .snb and so now im backed up. Stupid Samsung fail....

Works fine for me, and my non-local data goes into a different service; such as sending it to Evernote.
Reminds me of Polaris Office, when folk on the TF101 learned it sometimes corrupts documents.

Clouds are so many and so omnipresent, it's easy to forget we use them. For me your misfortune is yet another reminder to never rely solely on cloud sync when it comes to important data.

what bothers me, is I had hard copies of all my notes on my tablet. Samsung failed in their programming by allowing their cloud server to take precedent over my hard copies.

Well, S-note is developed by same company as Polaris office (infraware), so not just a random anomaly I figure.

Precisely the dangers of two-way background sync. You don't even know what went missing, until the moment you try to find it.
Which leads me to one of the reasons of my severe dislike for MTP protocol we have on Note 8 - on devices with USB Drive Mode, it is so easy to backup/sync files from int/ext cards to PC (e.g. TotalCmd dir sync with binary comparison) - no easy way to do it with MTP.

First of all I can't seem to find how to insert a picture from my clipboard on here right now... so that's the first question. How do I attach something from my clipboard on the xda app? Second, when I use my spen to draw around something to add it to my clipboard I don't see the option. I can share it with scrapbook and many other apps but how do I just send it directly to my clipboard and then be able to share something from my clipboard on here?

The clipboard's really more for traditional "cut/copy/paste," not for managing content. That's why you'll never see clipboard as a share to or from option. Most of the stuff you clip using S Pen ends up in the Gallery. For example, a screen capture pops up a menu at the top after it's captured. If you select the "check" in the upper right corner it's automatically sent to the Gallery. You can also select "share" and you'll be given a list of places and apps it can be sent. Clipboard's great if you're amassing content by category but it's not great as a means for storing a single clip of something with the intent of sending it somewhere else.

If you pick the share option and send it somewhere you can discard what you've created without saving it. Whether you realize it or not every time you copy something while the keyboard's active it's accumulating in your clipboard. If you check it and have never emptied it I'll bet you have dozens of historical clips you've made in it. The default is pretty much "save" across the board when you're creating something unless there's a cancel or discard option presented.

I just spent 45 minutes on tech support trying to find out how to manage my photos on my new tablet. After allowing smart tutor control, I was told that the new Tab S won't allow me to use Kies to direct my photos into various folders, nor is there any way to move them once loaded. I am a photographer, and had expected to have over a thousand images for demos. I can't have them all in one huge folder.
Please save me from having to return this and get an Apple - I have to be able to organize my photos. How do I do it?
thanks in advance
Keivn
option 1: The tablet should have Google+ installed, if you set that up and open the photos app (which is separate from the gallery app) you should be able to upload photos to google plus automatically, allowing you to organize and share photos inside google's online photo manager
option 2: You could do basically the same thing with Dropbox, uploading photos you have to their servers and then organizing them on your computer either in the photo manager on dropbox.com, or manually with the file manager on your mac/pc
option 3: use a USB cable to plug the tablet into your PC and copy photos from it manually periodically. If you have windows this should be easy, if you have a mac, you'll need android file transfer which is a program that communicates with the MTP protocol modern android devices use.
thoughts/comments/concerns?
Thanks
I didn't want to use an online method, because I am often in places with poor or no signal, which is a non-starter. I had tried running through simple Windows file manager, and had not been able to see it as anything other than single folder, with no ability to see discrete folder structures in it. However, when I tried that this am, I could see the folders on the Galaxy, so transfer and file management is easy. I'm not sure whether the Samsung tech changed a setting or what else might have changed, but with visibility into the folders via File Manager, this is now straightforward.
Thanks for the help. It's sad that Samsung help couldn't give me this simple fix.
Kevin
There are a lot of simple ways to manage photos. The simplest (but not most efficient) approach is probably just to plug the tab into PC with a USB and use a file manager to manage. Alternatively, you can also use one of several online services like Picasa and a third party app. Many of of the third party apps like PicsPro for Picasa, for example, have an option to keep a local copy of photos on the tablet so you can still view photos without an internet connection.

hi, I can easily do that within the default Gallery app.
I have the T705 version btw. But this shouldn't matter.
in the Gallery app I can simply create new folder(s) and move (or copy) selected photos form any folder to that new folder. I use this all the time. I'm not a professional photographer but I like to take loads of pictures. but I don't like them all together in the default "Camera" folder. I never organized my photos via PC (not on my phones, nor on my tabs).
I have been trying to convert some faces I had made for the Gear2 to the Moto 360 mainly just the images but I cant seem to figure out why even though I save an image specifically a watch hand or other pointer with a clear/no background when I try to use in either program the image now has a white back ground any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
ok answered my own question I was using gallery to choose images apparently you have to either copy the image to the phone then import it or i also used the Photos think its the Samsung app on note 4 and the images are imported without background.
After days of research I still have not found the answer that I am looking for. My old note 10.1 tablet was used extensively for school. I keep my textbooks and notes on it. The digitizer died so I upgraded to a 2014 edition. I am very upset over the loss of functionality with this tablet. When I lasso something I get the option to copy it to scrapbook and a whole bunch of other programs but not the clip board or gallery. I can copy it to lecture notes but it is done in a very clunky way. With my old note tablet I would simply lasso something like an equation in a text book and I would then wait about 5 seconds and the picture would disappear and automatically be save to clipboard. I then switched back to lecture notes and I would click the menu and select Import image and then choose gallery and my lassoed image would be right there. I simply selected it, change the size how I needed it and clicked the little check mark. Done.
With the new note there is no way to save to clipboard. My only other option is to upload it to a program like photos, Picasa, drive, and so on. I should not need an internet connection to upload something to what is basically being used as a clipboard. How do I get this feature back? Do I need to root? Can I reinstall the old note program or settings? Of course samsung says that it can't be done but I find that hard to believe since the older tablet did it just fine. Any help is appreciated.
Does lecture notes not appear in the list of programs you can send the selection to? Maybe you can ask the developer to help, as ever note, one note, snote etc are all there. Much easier than copying to clipboard and then importing.
By the way, once you send it to a program, it does get copied to the clipboard automatically. You can paste it if you are using the Samsung keyboard.

Yes it does, but the issue is that when I select it, it wants to open it in a new notebook or open a existing notebook and then insert it at the beginning of the notebook. If I am in a class where I have taken lots of notes then I have to drag the inserted image to the bottom of the page, use the volume buttons to move the page down, then drag again, move page, again and again for however many pages of notes I have. The way it used to work was I lassoed something, copied to clipboard, went back to lecture notes where I had just left it, insert image and confirm. It has changed from about a 10 second process to 30 seconds or more for a single image. At this point I would be happy with removing the new snote and spen settings from both my note 4 and note 10.1 2014 and putting the old snote/spen settings back in to get this functionality back. It's just stupid that clipboard is not an option. And the ONLY reason that it seems it isn't is because Samsung wants us to use it's apps, which it has already shown that it won't support from version to version. I used to use snote for all of this but when I upgraded my phone my old tablet and the new phone would no longer sync. So I upgraded the tablet too and now wish I hadn't. The moment another company comes out with a comparable product with native stylus support, I am done with Samsung.
Yeah, It's annoying that there is no copy to clipboard option. I also use it for notes and I multiwindow a PDF reader with Lecture notes. The lecture notes option in the lasso kills the multiwindow and, as you said, it works weirdly.
The solution I found: Select whatever you want to copy with the lasso. In the apps selection bar, select the Bluetooth option (with Bluetooth off). If you see at the bottom. Of the screen, a little white rectangle will say 'Copied to clipboard'. Then a popup will appear saying: 'You need to enable bluetooth' Click Cancel and wohala!!
Paste it as you know.
I actually posted this in a conversation with acadroid, Lecturenotes creator, somewhere.
Edit: Here, better explained with images:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59873552&postcount=30
Tell me if it works..
It does seem to copy to a "non standard" clip board. Thanks for the tip. I also noticed that after trying this that if I select lecture note from the menu it is not trying to open a new note book now. It seems to try to insert the picture where I last was in lecture notes. Not sure why the change. I think I can make it work. I think the failure here is mostly not being able to copy straight to a clip board or the gallery but that is more on samsung than lecture notes. And lector notes is one hell of a step up from snote. Thanks for the tips everyone.
@sendeth: I am not sure whether this helps, but LectureNotes has an open `import image in open notebook´ in the app's import settings. If you enable this option, any image which is opened with LectureNotes or shared to LectureNotes gets directly imported (or, more precisely, placed for import) into the currently open notebook.
You might want to wait for the lollipop upgrade, or do it if you already have it available. It has the smart clip feature from Note 4, which let's you grab screen clips and keep them in a floating tray onscreen, then paste into whichever application you want. I use it all the time on the edge, and it works pretty well. Haven't tried with LN though.
