Ultimate K-Tweaker Settings - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey guys, So here's an idea I want to share. Since many of us use K-Toonz's Kernal, why don't we share our settings file and a picture of the battery life with it? With many different samples, we might be able to find the best "overall" settings for this phone.

[Q] A Simple test to compare Roms

I was thinking about either me or someone else starting a test to compare all the ROMs. This way people can just look and compare to see what ROM they want, whether it be for performance, battery, ect. I was think about creating something like the attached table on how to compare the ROMs and was wondering would this cover everything?
additional details on test:
The ROMs will have nothing installed them except SETCPU
All ROMs will be using sense except CM6
ROMS that have preset profiles can will be used e.g. DC battery profile during the battery test, but this will also be noted in additional details

P.S. if someone can can upload a screen shot of this much appreciated it isnt working for me right now.
Reserved for adding updates on the tests

[Q] comparison of rom features?

I know about and have seen the spreadsheet created by neif. I was wondering if there's any sort of rundown that compares the roms by features, and not just raw stats. Don't get me wrong - the stats are important and big thanks to neif for compiling them.
But i'd like to know what each rom brings to the table besides just which one is the fastest or has the longest battery life.
Right now off the top of my head the few features i'd really like to have would be:
working tether
working hotspot
removal of all the sprint apps, other then maybe sprint nav
I've used unrevoked on my phone, so it's rooted, but that's as far as i have gone so far.
Thanks
Read a ton in the development section. Each of the features you list are usually noted in the OP of each ROM thread. Way too much info to copy and paste!
yeah, i know about the threads in the dev section. Bit of a pain to read through them all though, which is why i was asking if someone had compiled a list similar to what nief did, except highlighting features rather then performance.
thanks

[Q] 9 Qs re finding, selecting roms, battery life

i have looked and not found threads with this info.
i know i was supposed to try that first...
i have tried modaco and cg roms on my g2. id like to choose one and stick with it after i decide on it.
1. where can i find the best collection of available roms?
2. where can i find a short description of the nature of each.
3. can anyone narrow it down for me? i want mainly battery life and stability. i dont need speed because im already jazzed about the speed, coming from iphone 3g.
4. i consider it tedious to swap around roms because then i have to reinstall everything. is there a better way? like move all apps to sd? or a backup app that does the whole batch?
5. what would be the reason to NOT wipe prior to new rom install?
6. whats the big deal with cg rom? it looked like stock g2 from the interface. mocado looks fancier and more commercial.
7. what is sense composed of besides flip-for-speakerphone, flip-for-silent, quiet ring-on-pickup? just fullscreen weather graphics? is that it?
8. does anyone know of a 1-click widget to toggle data? i have to pay per minute over here.
9. any great battery saving apps?
thanks a lot for the pointers!
Why did you open a new thread when this a development forum. This should be in Q&A.
Mod please close.

FIRST & FOREMOST..... PLEASE DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1... ROMS.... Here in the dev section.
2... Description... All the important info should be in the 1st post of the ROM thread.
3... Cyanogen, the 2 Villain ROMs, the MIUI port, the Modaco ROMs and Virtuous seem to be the most popular. All are probably similar on battery, depends if you are used to turning things off when not needed, i.e... data, gps, wifi.
4... Use Titanium Backup to backup apps.
5... I always wipe, saves the risk of encountering force closes.
6... cg? Cyanogen? Its similar to stock, but with a bunch of optimisations and tweaks, definitely superior to stock.
7... SenseUI has a different launcher with the grey bar at the bottom, it has a different dialer, diff widgets. It does look more polished but I feel ROMs without SenseUI a tad bit snappier.
8... Check your widgets,... I reckon ALL ROMs would include something to toggle data on/off.
9... Apparently Juice Defender is a good app.
Answer to questions 1-9... Forum Search/Search Thread. Not trying to flame, just trying to help you find answers. Use the search function in these forums. If you have a question there is a huge chance it has already been answered. In this case, 1-9 has been answered extensively. Happy searching!

Dev app that you should check out - root required!

Hey y'all,
Sorry I have not been so active as I once was.. I wanna help but life has been a bit staggering lately. Anyways I come with an awesome free app for all you who wanted to see how I edited my build.prop
I used a program called buildProp editor. It has an easy to understand way of explaining details if each setting you can modify and gives you tips and has a lot of new user help for those who don't know how to use their build.prop
For new users in general, build.prop is basically the phones hardware configuration that allows advanced settings to make slight tweaks to your hardware (this is usually best for personally installed and built kernels, as you get best results out of it vs a stock kernel within the rom). So, this app will provide you an easy method of learning more about build.prop files.
In case your curious, on this phone model I do believe its located inside /system but again, I have a few phones I setup often.
I also use my system tuner pro for more advanced editing but this is not free.. I believe it was $5.00 but it does so much than just a standard app.
I hope this helps you all, because it helped me learn.

[Q] [4.2.2] PARANOIDANDROID v3.60 | HALO |

Hello guys i have few questions about this rom from WoH, at the moment i am using 4.2.2 rom based on CM 10.1 from VJ, but his version will not have update soon, so i decide to check install new rom from my topic. I have few question if You can answer it will be nice:
*1* Does work properly the sound of messages? For VJ roms i usually use low sound fixer, but without luck. So rom have any issuess about sound? Works fine? Sound is loud and i can hear the sms sound? (Everybody who have VJ rom know about this problem)
*2* Does work the headset or earphones without any problem? (Now when i plug in my headset i always have soft reboot)
*3*Can You compare to VJ rom based on CM 10.1? (Speed, performance, battery drain, soft reboots etc.)
*4*It is possible to disable HOLO - i mean thing like quick menu
*5*Could You write Pros and cons of the WoH rom? Any problems issuess and possible fix or some tips?
Thank You guys!

Easiest way would be to nandroid backup your current rom, then install this ROM and try it out for yourself.
1 - don't know
2 - don't know
3 - this will be very different for different people and setups, again you are the best judge based on your setup and usage, not someone else's
4 - yes, I use PA on my nexus 7. It's disabled by default I believe.
5 - pros and cons will be quite subjective, read the thread to see what's working and other people's responses. Again you'll be the best judge if you install it.

Well, thanks, but You don't help me so much. I found on the forum few things, at first i want to compare to HTC DESIRE in DESIRE thread not to Nexus 7 or any other device. For example few things work perfect on nexus 4, not on Desire like Camera. About pros and cons it will be for example, good performance, but fast battery drain. Many other things. So You don't know so much. I ask people which got experience with HTC Desire and have this rom on this phone.
So BUMP please

The ROM is still a port, and I've used it for a different device true. However Halo is part of the ROM, and it can be disabled. Other things can be found out by reading the thread, or better yet....just installing it and trying it.

I may not have experience in that exact ROM, but trust me I know enough to help you as I have helped many other people here
"Good performance, but fast battery drain" is subjective....how exactly do you define "good" or "fast" in this case? Some people define good as "stable...but has a few random reboots", but is this ok for you? Others don't mind lag, but might find it good as it's latest android with a few more features.
Fast battery drain varies massively depending on how you use the device, no two people use them the same way. You have not told us how you even use your device, and what you define to be "good" or "fast battery drain"
From bumping it, you could get some replies from a limited number of users. Some saying it's AMAZING / LAGGY / OK, some saying it has amazing battery / poor battery / suitable for medium / light / heavy usage...but you have no idea how they use their phone, how many ROMs they've tried for comparison, or the age of their battery etc. And again their perception of good or fast battery drain is different from yours. You may think getting 'reviews' from others is useful, but I'm merely warning you they can be very misleading for various reasons
In all this time you have waited for replies...you could have easily made a nandroid backup and just tried the ROM yourself. This is always the best way of testing for your usage and setup like I said, not from other people with completely different usage...then you make up your own mind and see if it's suitable for you
If you don't like it, you have a nandroid backup to go back to, so I don't see why you're waiting...
Well, You suggest to better install before ask about sth. At the moment imo i am using a good rom. I create topic to not spam thread in developers section. I have time to change rom, but i want to do it in future. Some people, used other roms and maybe have experience and they can share opinions.
So at the moment few questions:
- is here in WoH roms a soft reboots? How often?
- as i know all JB roms got problems with camera, what about recording? In VJ rom my video playback, which i record is lagged and broken, what with WoH rom?
- there is some issuess with headset or earphones, when You plug into the phone?
- is here a low sound notification problem? Any fix?
I am asking, because i don't want to spend time to testing, i can install or sth, but not have too much time for reinstalling and finding the best one. Few questions give me an answer what i am looking for
For me it is better to ask, than shouting about problem.
