I have used a Fortuna GPSmart bluetooth gps with xda2, I bought an optional cable which powers the xda2 and the gps and also allows data connection to xda or xda2, it needs to be set to Tomtom gps, nmea 38400 and Com 1, beams must be switched off in settings/connections/beams. I also have a Holux GR-230 bluetooth gps, I tried the cable from the Fortuna, with the same settings and it also works perfectly as a wired gps while charging both xda/xda2 and gps. This may be of interest to somebody.
Help
Hi. I have also just purchased the cable and being really stupid l Can't get it to work. Where do I change the settings you mentioned? thanks.
Go to the "gps" section of tomtom, choose nmea 38400 and com 1.

Hi
Does anyone have any idea how to connect a blutooth GPS device to an XDA EXEC running tomtom5? I can connect easily using the genuine tomtom bluetooth receiver however no such joy using any other type bluetooth receiver.
I have been able to pair both the PBT-111 and another bluetooth receiver, but I am only allowed to connect to comm ports 4 or 8 in the connection manager. These selections are not available when I go to the 'configure' option for the receiver within tomtom
Any ideas most welcome
Hi Mick did you have any joy with your connection to the xda exec.
bt and tomtom
if you install bt reciever in tt5,go to other wired recievers and choose the right port number. then it should work.
succes
This helped me when I set mine up.
since upgrading to tomtom6 my ba wont connect to my gps reciever, just says no gps device. if i reconfig it to bluetooth gps it trys to connect but wont even try with my wired gps iv even tried changing the gps. anyone got any ideas?
Which OS have you got on the BA?
If its WM2003SE have you gone to BT manager found the GPS unit tap and hold, then select "Connect" - BEFORE trying to configure the GPS in TT.
If its WM2005 have you selected the serial port mode and then set the outgoing Com port? - again this must be done BEFORE trying to configure the GPS in TT. - Mike
tomtom gps
im trying to use a wired gps reciever
In which case go to Start/ Settings/ Connections Tab select IrDA or Beam once in this page deselect the "Recieve all beams" check box, then try again with the TT unit (the IrDA stops the Com port from working) - Mike
job done
many thanx, wish i'd of asked before buying a new cradle and gps lol.
Hello there.
I have a GPS Receiver (is not a bluetooth GPS) from Falk Navigator 2. No CD's, no Maps, only the GPS and the cables.
I use another navigation system (I-Go) because has maps for Eastern Europe.
My problem: I don't know how to connect the GPS to the navi software.
The navi-software does not auto detect the GPS, tried all settings available with the navigation software.
Is there a Windows setting that it should be made before using the navigation ?
Lots of thanks.
buy bt gps.
Do you have a cable that connects between the com port on the PDA to the GPS?
If so connect this and go to Settings/ Connections Tab/ Beam and make sure the Recieve all beams check box is NOT selected (by default it is checked), this is known to prevent connection via a wired receiver - Mike

1. Download and install GPS6 This will install and enable the GPS Driver
2. Download and install Microsoft Smartphone GPSID this will allow you to configure your GPS settings (com ports, speed etc)
3. Reboot your device then pair your GPS Receiver
I think by defalt the GPS uses com6, I use garmin too, I have the GPS paired before I start the App.
