Guys please help me out...
I'm facing serious battery drain since yesterday. Was previously on ARHD 21 till yesterday...but observed increased battery drain during the night...battery reducing by 1% per minute in idle conditions...found the phone completely discharged in the morning...i thought maybe something has gone wrong with the ROm so wiped clean my phone using ARHD script...then flashed new boot image and installed ARHD 22....
unfortunately...the problem still exists...another important symptom...excessive overheating of the phone, especially near the camera...
in the battery stats section, Android System, Android OS are the top two with combined consumption of more than 70%...i have no clue why this is happening and hasn't stopped even after a superwipe and fresh rom installation....is there a more stable kernel that i can flash? please help me
Update: I moved to Blade ROM and the problem still persists...can it be that there's a problem in my sd card content?
Android System covers a lot of processes, use an app like better battery stats or gsam battery monitor to determine which services/processes exactly are causing the drain. If you've flashed a new kernel then the most important thing to do is wipe the dalvik cache, failing to do that can cause drain/fc errors in its own right.

I went to recovery and cleared the dalvik cache but the problem still exists...the phone is constantly hot and battery is draining like anything...i'm installing better battery stats...can you guide me as to how do i locate the problem using the app?
The app will give you options to check battery usage either by app, process, or partial/full wakelock i.e. what process wakes the phone up from deep sleep. If it's constantly hot then it seems like some process is constantly running or unable to stop, for example if you restore an app like facebook from a previous rom it may be constantly trying to sync without authorisation, etc.
Check out proccess and i happen same problem, but i see its problem with wifi receive signal, its forced the battery wifi have bad receive signal.
I think its related at problem hardware (wifi with bad signal), battery is very hot and turn off wifi and come normal temp.

Hi, i am suffering from massive battery drain on my gnex, i have noticed that android os uses approx 50% of my battery, which almost making my phone unusable. I have noticed today that when i switch my data off, i dont lose any battery life compared to when i leave it on and the percentage for android os reduces significantly. i am currently using franco's kernal and before that leankernal and suffered the same issue on both, i have also tried opening the camera after reboot which someone suggested but it doesnt work for me, does anyone else have the same issue and is there a fix to the issue as i would like to have data on.
Thank you
Also check data usage and disable background data of app that continues to update. This will also extend battery life.

I have checked the data usage and Android OS is using 775KB of data, so when data is on it must be keeping it awake which uses more battery
using juicedefender may help you it has very good radio controls that will turn off or on your wifi and data connections depending if you device is on or in sleep mode.
Also for your battery is the OS just showing 50% of the battery usage in the bat stats section ? If so that is NOT 50% of your battery that it has used. that simply means that of the percentage of USED battery the OS has used 50% of that. if your battery is at 50% and your OS in bat stats says 50% it has actually used only 25% of your actual battery.
OS is normally near the top of the bat stat list alongside the screen. unless you are playing games.
its normal

Yesterday i let my gnex battery die and android os almost used 50% with 3% battery remaining, understand where you are coming from, but i have explored the issue further and battery drain is significantly higher when connected to 3g, i will upload a screen shot soon to demonstrate the issue

I faced the same problem, issue was somewhat with auto backup of data, sync of app data & people details in google account,
BUT the main culprit in my case was uTorrent application.
Even though there was no torrent added to it, i didn't even opened it,
it was using 1GB data daily on WiFi and in data usage it was coming under Android OS usage. I uninstalled it, everything went back to normal.
So try to look for such apps which eat up your data in background, it may not be an error of android OS as such.
Hope this helps, Press THANKS if it did help you
Enjoy
yesterday i flash my rom from clean GB to sleeper rom EL30 without wiping but it stuck in samsung logo so i flash it again to stock EC05 without wiping dalvik chace(wiped chace etc) using recovery menu
after that my battery draining fast about 1% every 5 minute , and this day i do some search about calibrating the battery with various way such battery calibration from market and some charge to full and wipe battery stat but my battery still draining fast
my question is,is it possible flashing rom without wipe davilk chace will make some problem like this?
i monitor it with battery monitor widget pro, when idle it eat 121-500ma is like something in background process and the temp is 31c(this temp is like playing 3D game on my epic before) is like something heavy running in background
i try various method and do flashing again with wipe everything exc dalvik chace from CWM purple edition but the problem is still there , is flashing using odin back to stock EC05 will fix this? or try flashing rom again using rom manager? with wipe chace and dalvik checked? please help i never get this problem before
after some research when i in plane mode with account and sync(auto sync turned off) batter temp drop to 26c(normal) but battery drain still there...when i turn off airplane mode battery temp going up again(31c) so is it possible there's some error in android system that drained my battery because i dont wipe dalvik chace? i will try wipe dalvik chace after charge my battery to full
Wow that was a mouth full.... where are you from so I know if read in the right accent* not trying to b mean* just makes more sense to me in accent =/
As for the battery problem you should have wiped davlik yes, but I don't think that's what's causing the drain you should find betterbatterystats and see if that will help shed any light on what app is using you data in the background. Also go into running services and stop whatever you can/ don't need.

i think my problem solved now, here some conclusion and step to fix the problem for people who get this problem too in the future :
just charge it 3 hour straight even when led indicator changing to blue after that follow battery recalibration guide on cyanogen mod wiki
my mistake was wipe battery stat after battery indicator changing to blue, this is not accurate bc battery indicator still based on wrong battery stat and even tough the led indicator changing to blue the battery power was still below 100%
my normal temp for epic 4g was 24-26c and when playing 3D game/heavy app 31c and eat 2ma in idle mode(on battery monitor pro widget)
I've been having some strange battery issues.
TLDR: Phone battery drains and warms up when in use, but not when in sleep. Resetting batterystats doesn't fix it. Closing all processes doesn't fix it. It does it on a bunch of ROMs, which were always clean installed. The usual battery saving tricks do nothing.
More detailed:
Basically, whenever I use my S3, I get a considerable amount of battery drain. I used to have fantastic battery life when I was running LiquidSmooth RC5, where I was capable of 4-6 hours of screen time in a day. Now I can only get 2 or less hours of screen time in a single charge. This seemed to start after flashing LiquidSmooth RC8, but I also have the same issue in LiquidSmooth RC9, LiquidSmooth 4.2 beta, Task & Ktoonsez 4.1, Task & Ktoonsez 4.2, Slimbean, and Cynagenmod 10/10.1. So I don't think it is my ROM.
Anyways, so the battery drain only seems to happen when the phone is in use. During that time, the bottom of the phone around where the CPU is located gets considerably warm after just a few minutes of use. Otherwise, when the phone is locked, it deepsleeps fine with no drain. It still does it even when I go through my entire process list (and cached process list) and stop everything, it doesn't help. I've tried the whole batterystats reset where I charged to 100, drained, then charged to 100. That didn't help. I do make sure to clean install my ROMS, including clearing user data, cache, dalvik cache, and formatting my /system. When I look at my battery usage, it usually seems to be Android System using my battery the most. It can also be Android OS, Google Services, and Media sometimes. I've tried a ton of fixes, nothing helps. And of course it still does it with WiFi, data, GPS and all that off.
Help would be appreciated
battery life is an issue with many different factors.. there can be a bad app, bad battery, bad rom, anything really. if your phone is having issues then maybe 4.2 isn't the best for your phone there are many different roms to choose from and many are very stable.
Running 4.2 isn't the issue, though. It does it on 4.1 ROMs too. I'm not even on a 4.2 ROM right now.
Sounds like a rogue app or widget draining it. Get better battery stats. Type it in xda search. That will tell you for sure what exactly is draining the battery. Good luck.
Maybe your battery is just shot and its time for a new one

No, all these guys are wrong. Your phone is shot. I did everything you did. Better Battery Stats, calibrated battery, changed battery, changed SIM card, all radios shut off like data, GPS, Bluetooth, et cetera, no rogue apps, deep sleep according to BBS. You name it, I done it. And no one knows why our phones are doing this.

Except two of my friends that have S3s have the same issue, as well as another friend with an S2. I don't think all of our phones are defective.
Hi, running latest firmware + 2.10.410.1 roms, tried Maximus and ARHD, both with prior wiping, dalvik/cache wipe, battery cycle etc. When i am actually using the phone it still gets quite warm plus i can literally watch my battery percentage drop 1% every two minutes just using whatsapp. Happens even when not installing anything except whatsapp, gmail etc. I tried battery monitor, but it simply shows those apps (whatsapp) etc, not really WHY they are draining so much power when in use. Standby time is perfectly fine....
Anyone else notice such issues? Anything i can do to test further?

hi mate
try this app (better Battery Stats)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Let it run for a few hours ( are you root? ) and check : other , kernel wakelocks and partial wakelocks to see what is keeping up your phone
i had same issues with both custom roms, im keeping ViperOne since it is the more stable and giving me best performance with no changes at all on tweaks, just select viper sttings on the aroma installer setup.
Hi, I tried bbs, no special wake locks. However, my issue is that phone gets hot and drains battery while in use. Standby is perfectly fine. Even Whatsapp usage it gets hot and u can literally watch % drop.... Thought it was fixed on 2.10.410.1.. Oh I miss my m8. You think viper makes a difference over arhd? I even tried EX hexa core mod..
I faced a similar issue after flashing ElementalX kernel over eragon.
What I did was install os monitor & read the event log.
It turned out that dotview was messing about & keeping my cpu clocks high, so I went to clear data and force stop app which seemed to have fixed it since.
I have a Oneplus 3 and I have been quite happy with it .. up until got notified for an update to Oreo a few daya ago.
Since the update, the battery drain on the phone has been pretty bad and even when I am not using the phone, the battery is draining much faster than it should or was.
Yesterday I tried searching on Oneplus forum to see how to fix it, and saw some post suggesting to update to Open Beta 31. I downloaded the update the manually updated the phone, and the battery drain still seems to be same.
Fyi, my phone is not rooted.
Please see the image below for battery drain graph..
What I can see is that even when the screen is off, and the wifi is inactive .. the phone is still awake and not seemingly going into deep sleep mode..!!
Can anybody please help how to solve this issue?
Thanks
you could try better battery stats although it is a root app to find what is keeping the phone awake, i think you can use adb to grant the permissions for it to work without root or you could factory reset that should sort it out

From the screenshot, I am able to see that you have a very patchy mobile signal which is one of the reasons for the drain .
Well, the signals have been same even before the update. The battery drain was not like this before.
In the last 8 hours, with little use the phone went to about 36%..
Now I can do a factory reset but it's an annoyance because all my data would get lost, or I'll have to backup and restore using some means.

I have noticed that with an incremental update, things get sour on OP3. The best bet without losing data would be to clean flash the full ROM after wiping system, data (excluding internal storage), Dalvik and cache. I am sure your issue would be gone.
I always clean flash and have no such issues.
100% App related. I am getting great battery life on Oreo 5.0.1 by using Greenify. Maybe 3-4% overnight.

Just because it worked before doesnt mean it will work the same after an update. Mainly with this OEM.
Hi,
I've tried clearing the cache and also deleting everything except personal data and reinstalled the update 31 multiple times. Still the same problem.
The battery is draining at about 10% every hour regardless.
Can anyone advise what else can i try?
My only doubt now is if the update 31 file is the right one to install. I'm assuming that because the file is approximately 1.5GB it is a full update rather than a incremental update.
If that's not the case, can anyone tell me which file to install as the full update?
Another problem I have noted since the update is that the Camera does not work. Not sure why though.
If nothing else works, I'd be forced to try and downgrade to android 7 though I'd prefer to have android 8 - if it works and does not drain the battery this much.

You say that you have the OP3 but the heading of this thread refers to Open Beta 5 and then you say that you clean flashed Open Beta 31. Which is correct, OP3 or OP3T, OB5 or OB31? No wonder you are facing issues.
Hi
The phone is Oneplus 3
It prompted for auto update to Oreo, which I did.
Then started battery drain issues.
After reading forums, I updated to Open Beta 31.
The battery drain is still there and I have reinstalled Open Beta 31 couple of times which includes deleting everything from the phone excluding personal data, music etc.
I have cleared cache as well.

I repeat, your mobile signal is one, if not the only, heavy drainer.
Install BBS, grant permissions through adb, run it and take an idle dump (as described in its thread) and attach it in the BBS thread. Someone there will study it and identify the culprit/s.
I've installed Bbs and here's what it shows:
It shows something named video2 is keeping the phone awake most of the time. I also found that the phone cpu is awake most of the time rather than being in deep sleep.
Looking on the internet, I can't find what video2 is!!
Any ideas?
Also just found that the YouTube app is also not working. I google'd and found many people have reported the same problem, and have been suggested to do a factory reset. So I've just done that as well and it has still not helped.
Here's another screenshot of betterbatterystat showing the same issue :
This shows that the phone is not going into deep sleep most of the time, as video2 is keeping it awake. Hence the battery drain.
Any ideas of what I can do to solve this please?

Tried a reboot? Don't use any force dozing apps or block wakelocks.
Yes, rebooted the phone and I am not using any app to restrict wakelocks or force dozing any apps - apart from what's inbuilt in the Oreo os.

It's known that Mobile Data can be a really big drainer. I easily go from 0.6% per hour on WiFi to +2% on mobile data, especially poor signal as you have shown can drain even more. You could try using Greenify with Shallow Hibernation, it doesn't kill apps it only restricts them from doing too much in the background, you could try blocking the wakelock with Bluspark's build in wakelock blocker. But I am highly against blocking things that you don't know (Can cause more wakelocks, random reboots etc).
If Video2 is similar to Video3 is then most likely camera related.
Maybe some app is using your camera and doesn't even let your device sleep. Which could make sense since even being awake all the time 10%/h drain is way to high with the screen off, so probably other hardware is being used.
Check your apps, you might even have malware installed. See what permissions was each app.
I'd recommend to backup your data, do a factory reset or even wipe system partition (although you need TWRP for that
Since you mention that YT is not working another possible option is that is some playback video related.
Same thing, backup and factory reset. Install each app with Playstore and don't restore backups.
Maybe when you backup your data into your PC run some kind of Virus Scan over all the file just to be safe.
