Ok Experts,
I hope someone can help. I went used Rom manager to get into CWM and must have installed a kernal that JDX didn't like so I am in a bootloop. The problem is that my vol + button does not seem to be working so I can't get back to CW to fix it. It keeps going into odin mode.
What now?
Thanks for anything you can suggest!
Edit: Ok, I somehow lucked out and got into fastboot and got it to reboot into recovery and fixed the bootloop. I don't want to go through that again. Is it hard to replace the volume buttons? Anyone know how much Verizon would charge to fix them?

Hi, so I believe that I have hardbricked my phone. I just want to make sure that it's not a soft brick that I can fix before I get it repaired/replaced.
What happened was I have a stock rom which was pre-rooted flashed, and I've had that for a while with no issues. It was a stock root from the "No Tripping Flash Counter" thread. I just wanted to create a backup, through Clockwork Recovery, and it was about halfway through, but taking a really long time so I set the phone down (plugged in) and when I came back, the screen was dead. All that happens when I try to turn it on, put it into recovery mode, plug it into my computer, or anything else is just give a little vibration.
I've checked through several fixes for softbricked phones, but since I can't get to recovery mode, I haven't had any luck yet. Is this a hardbrick? Is it possible to fix it myself or does this need to be professionally repaired? And finally, is it possible to have it replaced by ATT or Samsung if I can't fix it myself?
Can you get it into Download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down)
??

Nope, can't get anything out of it but a small vibration every time. Download mode combo doesn't do anything.
Did you try battery pull before download mode
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Maybe its a bad battery?
Edit: after reading what I said over again I now realized that could be a stupid suggestion. Sorry.
Not exactly sure what was wrong, but I managed to fix it.
Used a jig to force it into download mode, and reloaded a rooted stock. Everything's perfectly fine now. Thanks for the suggestions from everyone!
Before I give up and get a new phone, I was hoping someone had a solution.
Little backstory on how the bootloop occurred, I flashed the latest Cyanogenmod 10.2 and everything seemed to be working fine minus the Google apps and SU. I realized that I forgot to flash the GAPPs also and was trying to figure out how I should boot into recovery (completely forgetting about adb). A friend said he could "fix" it and flashed a previous Cyan, leading me to the bootloop.
My power button has not worked for months which has only been a hinderance really, as I can still function with the volume rocker and gestures to turn the screen off and on.
But this is the one special case I was worried about where I would need my power button to boot into fastboot or recovery, and I am not able to.
I can get the phone on via plugging into computer, battery pull then put battery back in and wait, but that only leads to the bootloop.
Any help would be appreciated as I have tried anything I could think of as adb won't work in the bootloop for me.
Thanks.

I don't know if it works but you can try to push vol up+vol down and plugging it in to a computer. If it boots as you say it may be boot into fastboot..

Sadly, that's one of the first things I tried.
Thanks for the idea though.
Hello guys.I need your help.
I was trying the Cyanogen Mod Installer. Right in the middle on installation I accidentally step on the data cable and tripped. My phone fell on the floor and the battery was removed. I rebooted my phone and it is stucked now on the Cyanogen Mod logo.I tried to go to Recovery hoping that I can do a wipe but for some reason the volume down button is not working. Now I am unable to go to Recovery.
I relaunch Cyanogen Mod Installer on my PC and it is asking me to click USB debugging which was initially turned on.
How can I go back in resuming the installation or at least go back to stock ROM.
I am desperate. Thanks
Are you pushing both volume up/volume down and Power at the same time during boot?
If not,. try that and report back.
If it goes to the Cyanogenmod logo you should be able to go to recovery. Has the volume button always malfunctioned?
Unable to go to fastboot??! Your work is very hard...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4.
Yup. Unable to fastboot and recovery .
The volume down button was working before it fell. I disassembled the phone to jig the rocker with no luck.
Maybe, I'll just bring it to the repair shop.
Hey guys
I've problem with my Note so... Hope you can help me :/
I recently installed last CM10.2 nightly from get.cm. So I restored all my apps and after that I applied the nav bar trough Pimp My ROM...
Everything was going good up to here. When I tried to boot into Recovery Mode to wipe cache (Because the tablet won't boot) a message popped up saying that I was in "SDCARD MODE" (The hell is that!) followed by something like coping to EMCC... Like if it was coping something from the SD to EMCC
After that the tablet got (Bricked?)... No vibration, no Samsung logo, no nothing
Any suggestions? Did I ****ed it up?
Any help would be appreciated guys
Cheers

Can you enter download mode? If you can, flash a stock fw with odin. (Home + Volume Down + Power)
Go to sammobile.com for a stock FW.
Always better to start over from stock when things goes wrong like that IMO.

I can't do anything dawg.... The tablet is like dead
Wether I try to enter download mode or recovery mode, nothing happens
Btw, y' know what's EMCC?
So if you hold the power button and volume down at the same time for between 5 to 10 seconds, you get no Samsung logo at all?
If you get absolutely no logo (and the battery isn't dead) then it sounds like you totally bricked your bootloader somehow.
If that's the case, I'd send it in for service.
Alright so I have had this phone for well over a year and it has been bricked since I got a hold of it. A friend gave it to me to fix and never asked for it back and since I have had my iPhone I have missed having an android to play with :crying:
It is stuck in a bootloop thing (It shows samsung and when the andorid flies up it freezes and resets) I have been trying to reflash it with odin for ages but gave up and finally decided to seek help after days of googling and searching
If I boot holding VOL + and VOL - , all it does it boot into recovery mode (and I have wiped everything and reflashed the rom on the internal sd card successfully) but it still does the same thing. I have also tried booting in other ways (Such as HOME and VOL +, and HOME and VOL - , but it just goes to the boot loop. I need some ideas because this iPhone is getting broing
Does the phone use the stock recovery? And if you are needing to hold the home button to enter anything, I think you got the wrong forum as the SGH-T989 only requires the VOL Down key to be held to boot into recovery. Are you sure your device is not the I9100?
