[Q] Unable to go to Recovery. Unable to go to Fastboot. Stuck. Bootloop. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello guys.I need your help.
I was trying the Cyanogen Mod Installer. Right in the middle on installation I accidentally step on the data cable and tripped. My phone fell on the floor and the battery was removed. I rebooted my phone and it is stucked now on the Cyanogen Mod logo.I tried to go to Recovery hoping that I can do a wipe but for some reason the volume down button is not working. Now I am unable to go to Recovery.
I relaunch Cyanogen Mod Installer on my PC and it is asking me to click USB debugging which was initially turned on.
How can I go back in resuming the installation or at least go back to stock ROM.
I am desperate. Thanks

Are you pushing both volume up/volume down and Power at the same time during boot?
If not,. try that and report back.
If it goes to the Cyanogenmod logo you should be able to go to recovery. Has the volume button always malfunctioned?

Unable to go to fastboot??! Your work is very hard...

Yup. Unable to fastboot and recovery .

The volume down button was working before it fell. I disassembled the phone to jig the rocker with no luck.
Maybe, I'll just bring it to the repair shop.

[Q] Bootloop & Recovery don't work

Hi guys:
I have this phone from about 10 months ago. I have always it rooted and with CyanogenMod, actually with CM7.
Today I was using my browser, and then it closed, the phone begin giving me a lot of errors, any application worked and I decided to reset it, because sometimes that work.
For my surprise, when I reseted it, It was bootlooping, It start booting (cyanogen logo doing circles), then freezes and then reset.
I know how to work with this problems and I reseted it on recovery and when I entered to the recovery everything seems to be fine, but I only see the menu, when I try to install zip from sd card, go to mount & stored, go to clear cache, or enable USB the screen just get empty but its ON.
Im very frustrated, I don't know how to proceed in this situation, I have looked in the Troubleshooting thread but have not found anything that worked for me with boot looping.
I hope someone can help me, sorry for my english, it's not my main language.
what button are you pressing to select the menus? Power?
Yes Im using power button.
Before I used the power button but now tried using the middle button and it worked.
Lets see if it recover correctly.
Yes because power button turns off the screen.

[Q] I'm stuck in a bootloop

Need some help please !
First of all I'm stuck in bootloop with my nexus 7 2013 (not unlocked). So I pluged my N7 in my computer (windows 7) to flash the Rom. I also have a problem with the driver when I connect my N7 to the computer and I get the message (MTP device failed ). So I've tried to install manually new drivers from Google but it says that my drivers are up to date ??? Now It seems that it's impossible to flash my N7 if my computer doesn't recognize my device.
What is the best thing to do now
thanks in advance

Well, it looks like you have a couple of things going on. I can't remember how I got windoze to recognize the n7, but it had something to do with deleting the driver then plugging the n7 back in and letting it install the driver again. I remember I had to play around with the thing for a little while. Trying to update the driver wouldn't work for me either. As, far as the bootloop, you could try this one click tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582 Finally, you could try wugfresh's toolkit if you want to take the lazy route. It actually works pretty well. It might even help with that driver issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389107 you don't use it to install a rom, but you do need to install a custom recovery and the toolkit could help with things like that. I personally use the toolkit to return a tablet or phone back to factory condition, lock the bootloader, etc...
You could also try to do a factory reset from the stock recovery. That fixed a boot loop for me after unlocking my bootloader.
Problem solved
I finally contacted Google Canada Monday morning and spoke with with a tech. Wow...very impressed by the service and my problems are now solved. First we went to Recovery mode ( Power and volume down) in that mode you then press again power and volume up and release at the same time. Then, from that menu you can now swipe all data and it solves the Bootloop problem. Finally I reinstalled all my app and back to normal. I pluged my N7 to my computer and now no more driver problem....
Thanks

That's what I was referring to in my post, sorry for not giving a more detailed explanation.
Glad to hear you that you had a good experience with Google support and that you solved your problem. :good:
Thanks for giving feedback and have lots of fun with your N7!
Hello!
I'm stuck in a loop boot too. I flashed without wiping... I try to boot in recovery mode but it's impossible. The combination vol up, down and power doesn't work. It tries to boot as usual so starts in a loop again.

Let me get this straight....are you trying to hold volume up & down at the same time? If so, you cannot please both volumes at the same time. Also, to boot into the bootloader (same as fastboot, not recovery) is power + volume down. The easiest way to do this is to hold volume down, then press and hold the power button. If the tab was on, and the screen goes black, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button. It should boot into the bootloader soon enough.
1. Push volume up and power button for 5 seconds then release the power button.
2. Do a complete wipe of the system and reinstall the system.zip again and reboot.
If it doesnt load the recovery do this.:
1. Hold volume down and power button for 5 sec. Release the power button and volume once you enter the download screen.
2. Use odin in your Pc to install the rom you want or stock rom.
(3. If you installed stock rom go back to the steps I wrote at the top and flash a new rom)
Remember that you need to be rooted.
OK so I was trying with the wrong combination.
With both vol up/down + power worked.
I restored and it's up and running again.
Thanks!

Help! Stuck trying to reboot into non-working recovery!

Hi all,
I recently tried flashing the latest twrp recovery onto my galaxy s3 from an app called recovery tools I had installed from the play store. After flashing, I hit reboot into recovery. The phone then shut down and said it was trying to reboot into recovery but just came up with a black screen. I have taken out the battery and put it back in multiple times, and I have tried booting into download mode, but no mater what I do, it keeps trying to reboot into the non working recovery. I have the ATT galaxy s3 running cm 11 4.4.2 and I have the xposed framework installed. Please help! I'm at a loss for what to do! Thank you!
fixed
Well guys I just wanted to post that I have found the fix in case anyone was having the same issue that I was. Unplug the battery and wait 6 minutes, then plug it back in and enter download mode by holding vol down, home, and the power button then when the screen pops up with a warning, hit cancel and reboot, and then your phone should boot up!

[Q] T989 stuck on samsung logo - no power button

hey guys,
I was on 4.1.2 I had a "NO SIM" issue so i decided to try to root and flash 4.4 rom (was using touch recovery 2.7.0.0 all the way)
then it got stuck on samsung logo, I need to know if it's possible to boot RECOVERY MODE either FROM DOWNLOAD MODE or some touch/vol buttons way to boot into recovery, I have tried everything within my knowledge, I start the phone by sliding the battery out and in while USB plugged. or into download mode by holding both VOL buttons. I need to get into recovery and do a full wipe so I can do a fresh jelly bean 4.1.2 again.
thanks!

Are you saying that your power button doesn't work or what? Also, this belongs in q&a. I'll ask a moderator to move it.

EDIT: thread moved.
I'd fix the power button first. Then the rest is easy. You're in for many headaches with a bad power button. Plus, if it acts up while flashing anything, you could be in real trouble.
it's a little urgent on needing the phone to use it, thats why am digging into this. the button wont be here until at least wednesday 13th.
but yeah i guess i'll wait
thanks for your responds guys!

Oh boy I need help

My wife's old S3 was given to me to use. I had originally flashed CM 11 on it and tried to upgrade to CM 12.1. In doing so I accidentally forgot to flash GAPPS.
I reverted to the stock ROM via Odin but now I'm stuck in a boot loop. The best part? The device's power button does not work and I cannot make any selections within the stock recovery to clear the cache and reset to factory settings.
Can anyone help me?
Pull the battery to turn off the phone and put it back in. If you feel the phone power up by vibrating upon putting the battery in and not touching the power button and go into loop then you have a bad power button. Do you have this problem? If so, then your only options are repair or remove the power button (there is an alternate way to power the phone up). Let us know if it is a bad power button or not so that hardware issues can be accounted for and go from there.
NOTE: The S3 has been known for some time now to have power buttons that fail. Mine did, and I opt to remove mine as I could not justify paying for a repair when the S3 is my backup phone and test platform and I have a method to power up. I use widgets for controlling power off, restarts, and recovery once powered up.
I no longer have a power button either and recently encountered this same issue after using Odin to flash a stock image.
My solution was to flash TWRP recovery using Odin, which allows one to perform operations using touch instead of the power button.

Bootloops have not been uncommon when reverting from LP to KK. Once you have flashed TWRP as others in the thread have suggested, you will probably need to wipe/ format the internal sdcard. The other remedy some have posted is to load a stock recovery and do a factory reset from within that stock recovery.
Not sure how to get into recovery without a power button.
Is the button loose or not functioning at all? You could try opening the phone and removing everything from the frame and see if the power button functions.
I haven't tried this with my SGS3, but on my Acer tablet I have booted into recovery using adb and fastboot. This requires connection to a computer, but not a power button. Unless you have a touch version of a custom recovery installed you still would not be able to select an item.
You may be able to flash a custom recovery using adb. I had broken my stock recovery on that tablet and used fastboot to reflash a working stock recovery.
