Question about touch screen
My prophet is kinda crazy with the touchscreen. It needs to be calibrated every minute. almost every time i need to use it. I have cleaned it very well. Also the dust under the case but it still has the problem. I am now convinced that the digitizer is the problem. I can get it for a reasonable price. I know how to disassemble the prophet, but when you have the screen (the whole lcd) in your hand. How do you take the digitizer apart? How do you install the new one? Can somebody help me or give me another advise to rescue my old digitizer!
i just changed my digitizer yesterday..
it's pretty scary because you have to cut the top layer off..
this layer is a touch mask and a glass..
so when you cut it of form the sides the glass brakes..
then you have to cut loos the digitizer's connector, stick the new digitizer on and solder the connector back on..
it's realy scary to do but with me it worked, just lay everything you took apart in the right order so you can put the pieces back properly..
i got my digitizer from ebay, it game with screwdriver, digitizer, case opener and a protection film..
oh yeah, and a little piece of cloth to clean your screen ^^
good luck!
The parts are also available (cheaper) here:
http://www.phoneystore.com
Removing the touchscreen from the LCD is a delicate operation, because you run the risk of cracking the LCD.
To remove the touchscreen, you should use a very thin piece of fishing line. Wrap each end around your index fingers (like you would with dental floss) and wedge the line between the touchscreen and LCD. Move the line from side to side and it will cut the touchscreen free.
thanks to both of you. I´ve just bought my digitizer from phoneystore.com. Waiting for It to arrive. Told you when I have the part.

Arc screen/digitizer replacement? Scratch removal tips? Canada

Hey guys,
I have a Xperia Arc that took a tumble out of my pocket yesterday evening while I was visiting a friend out in the country side. His drive way is all gravel and scratched up the screen with tiny hairline scratches. Is it possible to buff these out? If so what kind of tools or supplies would I need ? Possible to get a replacement digitizer? the screen functions perfectly and the scratches arn't deep but I'd like it to look good to keep up the resale value. I know I'm going to get lectured here about how "you should have had a screen protector on it", I did have one on until recently and even had a case still on the body.
If anyone is able to help me or knows where I can get it replaced near where I am, I live in Chateauguay, Quebec Canada
Thanks in advance!
did u remove the preapplied shattered proof sp? by default se put one on ur screen unless u already removed that also..
Id also like to know if theres any tip how to remove scratches.
There's a factory applied screen protector, just remove that you're scratch free.

Yes, try removing the factory screen protector first, and if there are still some scratches, you can go to an automotive store and try looking for plastic polish products, but NOT scratch fillers. I use this (http://www.bestplasticcleaner.com/) on my car's headlights, it's a very fine plastic polish, and might buff out small scratches, but if you can feel it with your finger nail, it's probably too deep.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to just replace the whole digitizer / screen assembly , which isn't too hard, but might be a bit expensive.
check out this XDA post for removing your screen.... i think somebody in there posted a place to buy replacement parts if you do need it...

[Q] S3 screen/led replacement issue

I recently bought a galaxy s3 off ebay that just needed a glass screen repair. Having done several of these with other models I thought no biggie ill ju st change out the digitizer and have a heck of a deal lol until I started looking into how the phone was made and the screens being fused together like they are. I followed a youtube video and heated the screen with a hairdryer and proceeded to try and carefully tried to remove the outer glass without harming the digitizer or lcd screens fused behind it. Unfortunately when I removed the glass screen the digitizer came with it. I thought id ripped the digitizer's flex cable til I read this phones digitizer doesnt connect that way. It didnt crack the lcd screen in any way tho, so Im pretty sure I can just clean the lcd rly well and make sure all the adhesive and glass is cleaned off and use new 3m adhesive to install a new digitizer then the glass screen over it.
The only thing im questionable about is a thin brown ribbon/wire that was pulled out of its original place iand tore a little while doimg this removal. Some of the adhesive from the factory apparently stuck to it while I was heating the glass and attatched itself to the digitizer somewhat or enough to work its way out and initially tear as I was pulling the glass off. Its not the buttons or the small cable that attatches them but it is right beside them. Can anyone with some experience working on these galaxy 3s please tell me what this hooks up, controls, or what other replacement part I would have to buy that would have this ribbon included in it? Or with this ribbon being the way it is, am I going to have to buy the lcd, digitizer, &glass screen replacement that comes preassembled? I know its not the lcd flex cable amd doesnt go to the digitizer so im at a loss.
Im attatching pics so u will know what im referring to. Thanks for any help its greatly appreciated.
Pics after screen removal.
That's why I paid more and got the LCD+Digitizer. Cost more but made it a million times faster.

Yeah i understand i was just tryin to save a few. I can still do that and not lose but 10 bucks so notjhing hurt if i cant find a solution to this or just make double certain that ribbon being the way it is in the pic isnt going to hurt anything.

I'd go check out this thread and ask some of these guys. A lot of them seem to have attempted repairs already, and many of them have had to troubleshoot different issues. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1890708&page=78

S3 screen repair... broke it again

Hello,
I "repaired" my screen. It was looking good until I put my knee on it, breaking it.
It didn't put much pressure, the phone was on my bed and didn't know it was there. It broke because when I removed the original glass, the glue also went with it.
The space between the replacement screen and the digitizer/lcd wasn't replaced by a new glue which caused the glass to flex under the pressure of my knee and ultimately break.
With only the pressure of my finger, the glass can touches the screen. This issue can only be fixed by placing something to replace the missing glue. What can I use for that? What have you guys done to fix this issue?
Cheers
