Hi,
So yesterday night i unlocked the bootloader successfully even flashed clockworkmod recovery on my phone. Things went wrong when i tried rooting it and it has been stuck on the boot screen (HTC Quietly Brilliant) ever since.
I get still get into recovery mode and also into clockworkmod so i feel like all is not lost. Could anyone out there help me out??
Thanks
John.
Which zip did you flash to root?
Were you on stock ROM?
Did you make a backup?
And, don't worry; even if you do not have a backup, you can always use a RUU to restore your phone.

Hi, i thought the whole process would progress smoothly so I didnt make a NANDROID backup. Shock on me!!
I got the zip and rooting instructions from some shady looking website on the internet. I should have known better.
At the moment i wont be able to share with you the zip file, am at work. I think i'll try restoring my phone using the RUU. Hope all goes well.
Easiest way now..as you are unlocked and have cwm..use a custom rom and his boot.img..and you got it boot again..there are some tuts here on xda one x section

one last question (totally NOOB qstn). I have the international HTC One X. Should i be picking ROMS from the "HOX Android Development" or the "HOX Original Android Development" sub-forum?

Android Development will be primarily Sense roms
Original Android Development will be roms built from source code or extensively coded by users, cyanogen for example
You can use roms from either sub forum.

I know how to install them,i asked a different thing.
Sense is basically an HTC version of Android. AOSP is stock Google android. You cannot flash anything for AOSP on a Sense rom.

no. its a custom rom, as suggested by the 'install like you would a rom'
I just came over from a HTC incredible s and I have to say this phone is amazing. The hardware is beautiful and I love the screen! The only thing is the lag that is noticable, not to mention the fluctuating battery life
So I'm thinking of unlocking the bootloader and rooting to get some of the sweet custom rom goodness onto my phone. But I was just wondering how the kernels and roms work. I.e. how can I find out which kernel posted in the development section is compatible with which rom? And if I want to put a custom kernel onto a different custom rom how do I go about doing that??
Cheers all

Just read the manuals. I always use the standard kernel that comes with the ROM.
When rooting, beware to execute every step otherwise your phone will be bricked.
You could just start off by trying a custom ROM to rid the lag. If you still want a custom kernel just read the threads and it'll say what its compatible with usually. Hope this helps, man. Btw, congrats on getting the Hox!

Please avoid using the term bricked. If you don't follow the steps then the ROM will not boot but that is far from being bricked.
The only sure fire way to end up bricked is by simulate battery pull wile updating Hboot with an ruu.

So the kernel dev will say what roms it is compatible with? I had a look at some and they didn't seem to be explicit as to which roms they're compatible with.
And can I clarify that the kernel is in the boot.img? So to flash kernel just fastboot flash boot xxxx.img?

Well for example- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647993 This kernel states its for rooted stock and custom ROMs. This kernel- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800603 is for AOSP ROMs for the time being. Those are just two examples but just read through and it'll state what kernels are for what. For installation just read the flashing instructions and all will be good, hope I helped!

G'day guys,
I should start by saying this is all pretty new to me, I've recently rooted my Tegra 3 Htc One X using Hasoon's All in One (many thanks) and flashed CM10. Rooting went smoothly, and with some persistence, a few noob mistakes and plenty of help from the threads and links from xda, I have CM10 running great (except for a wifi issue). However, I neglected to save a copy of stock and the only thing I can find online for my build number (2.17.980.4, CID Optus001) is a kernel source code from htcdev. Is there any way to use this to restore back to stock recovery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also in the same boat, would like to return to stock on optus. before restoring from CM10 I think we need to flash the Optus kernal that we had before... although how knows how to find that kernal.
If there is no ruu file for your phone then you need a backup made in custome recovery of the original os. It also includes the kernel (boot.img file).
The kernel source from htcdev is of no use for your problem..

That wasn't what I was hoping for, Thanks anyway.
The only other thing you can do is take a "stock" custome rom with sense, that will give you a stock look and feel if you dont like cm10.
And dont forget the kernel of that rom..

You have to find (make a request) a nandroid backup of your stock rom. There is a thread with many nandroid backups of stock roms in the General forum ask there.
PS. sharing nandroid backups (or HTC Sense software in general) is considered against the consumer license.

Hello All,
I know it topic has been discussed many time, but please clarify me something more on this.
I have a HTC One V Cdma device, i flashed a custom rom recently and i experienced continuous reboot.
So, i searched the forum and found that i have to downgrade the radio and then use the kernel provided by the developers.
I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018518.
In this link i am finding the Football's Primo Shipped ROM Collection links unavailable.
From where else i can get this file.?
Also, what will happen when i downgrade the radio ? Will it cause any adverse effects ? ..
Also let me know how to install this RUU
Ok. So the RUU you are looking for if you have CDMA is this one.
http://www.htcruu.com/securekey.php..._Sprint_WWE_VM_1.08.652.11-1.08.652.6.zip.md5
You also want Stock Recovery and Stock Boot.img. before restoring to the stock RUU I believe, unless your doing it your own way.
The site is htcruu.com and all thanks to JMZ.

Thanks for the reply bro. I am seeing 2 type of files .zip and .exe file. Which file i should use ?
In many threads i am seeing that we should flash the radio 521_2. So now which file i should choose for the same.?
Also the .zip file is of very small size only 17MB and the other file is 350 MB why there is a huge difference between the sizes.
please assist. All i wanted is to run a Stable JB without boot loop.
The RUU is the bigger file. Just make sure you use the right one.
The Zip is the OTA update that will cause the bootloop on Custom Roms.
So....why do we even have a q&a section if people can just post here and get answers without repercussions?

I experience the same boot loop or freezeup with custom rom. And what worked didn't have wifi and came with other bugs. My old HTC wing had easier rooting to be honest. I eventually gave up with this modding this phone so I might sell this phone out of frustration.

OK the issues you had are from not installing the correct boot.IMG OR having a radio version that made it impossible to flash custom firmware to your HOV. This seriously belongs in Q&A thread.
EDIT: Lloi shut his cm thread down to a dumba$$ question being posted earlier. Please folks read before just posting I made mistakes at first too but people please......

No

Is there someone working on a kitkat Rom for the HOX?
And probably the answer is the same ... At least for now ...
The HOX+ have 4.4 ROM

no because it's for the one x plus or the att one x, if there is going to be a 4.4 rom for the one x international endeavouru, it will be reported in the development section on XDA first. please don't post things here that are potentially going to damage someones phone. do a little research first, like the filename and the download folder.....note the "xplus" and "att" in the folder name as per your link http://downloads.kanger.me/?dir=nightlies
