Custom rom boot

I just rooted my htc evo and I want a custom rom boot but I have no idea where to start though. I would like if someone could make me one or at least direct me to the section that has the custom rom boots...any advice?

ok i cae from a nexus one rooted and running MIUI mod. i came to the EVO hoping to do the same. i have root and recovery but every time i flash a rom i gt bootloop. help i dont know what to do now?

You probably aren't wiping data. Either that or the MIUI kernel isn't playing nice with your EVO. Try to flash one of the AOSP kernels without agressive undervolting. If that doesn't work, try one without HAVS altogether.

Do you only get boot loops when you flash miui? Have you tried any other rom? Is your S-ON, S-Off? Did you use unrevoked method to root? Is your evo a 004?

yes i get booy loops on every rom and i believe it is off and i did use unrevooked and i have no idea how would i go forth of checking that?

what he means by wrong forum is that you posted a question in the Developer forum.. questions go in the questions forum.. and you can post questions about a particular rom in that roms' thread to get the best help..
and in this case thats not even hosted here at XDA..

Did you just get your phone recently? If so, you probably have a late 003 or the new 004 hw version. Check it in your settings/about phone/hardware info. Then try this guide (read the cautions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045.

i keep getting errors when i try to adb shell busy box. i dont understand why this is taking a couple days.

What he means by wrong forum is that it's not yet another rom. There is no discussion of development that goes on in this forum. It's nothing more than a release and support forum, at best a collection of bug reports.

I'm not trying to be rude but some of u need to get a life. I mean if u have nothing better to do than to pop in and out of every thread telling people they posted in the wrong place I feel sorry for u. Either try and help or don't say anything and let the mods decide wether its in the wrong place or not. I used to love coming on here and talking, learning and sharing but some of u are just completely ruining it.

my guess is you arent s-off/nand unlocked. reboot into hboot. power off and the back on, while pressing the volume down button. the very top line will tell you whether it is on or off.

Toolkit for when the phone is released

Hey guys / girls. I've been making toolkits for phones for about 3 months and they gained pretty good recognition. Would you guys be interested if I made one? I know it is early to ask, but the more input the better!
If you never saw my toolkit, look at my signature.

Of course this community is open to development as we have little atm..I would try it as it looks interesting..

I see the phone is now out. There is one recovery and one kernel. Can anyone extract the stock kernel for the Stock ROM zip file and send it to me? Also, the stock recovery as well. Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, I have been jailbreaking iPhones and iPods for years but I decided to switch to an android so I went with a Galaxy S3
I am new to the ROM/rooting experience and I am looking forward to learning!
I did root the phone but I have not flashed any ROMS yet. I want to find the best one out there for the T-mobile S3 before I flash my first one. Could anyone tell me which, if any, improve signal strength? I have very bad signal in my area and was hoping that I could improve that this way, Gotta appreciate all of the developers who put so much time and work into this stuff for our benefit!

Well I would recommend Wicked rom if you want stock experience, if you want aosp, most are based on CyanogenMod 10 builds. If you want better reception, there is a flashable modem that SHOULD improve reception, but its dangerous I've read, I have not done that, but its what I've read. Some heads up tips, backup in recovery before flashing anything, read the original post of anything you'll flash and search before posting, you'll probably find what you need

Where did you hear that flashing modems is dangerous? As long as you follow directions and don't use one for another device its really no more dangerous than flashing a kernel or recovery.
If you guys want to learn more about modems this thread is as good as any place to start!

The thread I linked to is stickied in the development section. Next to it is the firmware thread. I suggest keeping a copy of the stock fw on hand in case you run into problems. Sometimes odin flashing back to stock is the only solution.
There is no best rom. What is the best for you will most likely not be the best for me. You should get an idea of what you are looking for base-wise. Try a cm or aokp and see if you prefer it over stock. Say you prefer stock, then focus on the roms that are based on stock builds.
Read the op thoroughly! Find one that has features you want. Then while downloading read the first few pages and the last 5 or so pages to get an idea about any bugs or other info.
The rom you choose will rarely have any bearing on signal stregnth. There are lots of modems you can choose from.
Finally, do NOT flash anything that was made for another device!

Well as actually you can flash most att ROMs to the t-999 as long as they are not updating the modem then you should be fine

As far as modems go it is going to be a testing process. While most modem updates are aimed at better signal it is not always the cases do to area. So what gives me the best signal my not get you the best signal so try one and run a speed test use it for a day then do another speed test before changing the modem again until you find what works for you.

First I like to say hello as I'M A NOOB!! I just rooted my phone and would like to try a ROM now but not sure not to install or how to go about it I've been doing a lot of reading still to no avail!! I would like to try any rom to start and go from there but how do I go about installing the rom if that's what's it's called I believe it's called flashing anyway how do I go about flashing a ROM and hwere are they located so I can pick one out and try it? Can somoene please point me in the right direction so I can get a ROM installed I am so excited now that my phone is finally Rooted I need a ROM A.S.A.P. I'll take a leap of faith. Which recovery are you using. What method did you use to flash recovery. If I were you I would start simple and flash a touch wiz 4.1.1 ROM. Also, 2 things to remember before someone else tells you. 1 - CAPS aren't necessary for someone to read your post. 2 - asking for a ROM recommendation is generally discouraged due to what I like may not be what you want, per xda rules. For rom info just goto the development section and read. Find one you are interested in. Make a backup using your recovery method, follow guidelines set by developer and flash. Google and you tube are your friends when learning to flash. You might want to find a app backup utility like titanium backup to restore your apps after you flash your new ROM. Then read, read, and read some more and when you think your ready read again. Flashing wrong ROM can cause a bricked (locked and unusable phone). Also, if you were sorry for the caps you could have change prior to submitting post. Good luck.

[HELP] I think I Bricked My HTC One X :(

Hi,
So yesterday night i unlocked the bootloader successfully even flashed clockworkmod recovery on my phone. Things went wrong when i tried rooting it and it has been stuck on the boot screen (HTC Quietly Brilliant) ever since.
I get still get into recovery mode and also into clockworkmod so i feel like all is not lost. Could anyone out there help me out??

Which zip did you flash to root?
Were you on stock ROM?
Did you make a backup?
And, don't worry; even if you do not have a backup, you can always use a RUU to restore your phone.

Hi, i thought the whole process would progress smoothly so I didnt make a NANDROID backup. Shock on me!!
I got the zip and rooting instructions from some shady looking website on the internet. I should have known better.
At the moment i wont be able to share with you the zip file, am at work. I think i'll try restoring my phone using the RUU. Hope all goes well.

Easiest way now..as you are unlocked and have cwm..use a custom rom and his boot.img..and you got it boot again..there are some tuts here on xda one x section

Initially i wanted to flash CM10.1 on my phone. I want a rom thats close to stock. Which would you recommend. I have the international one x

you have to try it yourself to see what rom fits for your daily use. you can try sentinel rom.

Android Development will be primarily Sense roms
Original Android Development will be roms built from source code or extensively coded by users, cyanogen for example
You can use roms from either sub forum.
