I bought Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 for 3 weeks ago. B4 Galaxy Grand i had Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830. Now I'm using new one. I thought Internet Connection will be dramatically better on Galaxy Grand. However my dream to use high speed internet won't become. After switching Mobile data for 2 or 3 minutes, there's no problem. But after that connection is dropped for randomly period. Sometimes I can't even continue to use. I've told that my old phone is Galaxy Ace. I mean connection is very good on using Galaxy Ace. It can download about a youtube video and 3 or 4 web-pages simultaneously. Why ??? I use internet at a certain location.
Please help me to solve this problem :crying:

Thanks for this gonna make a backup and try it out
Edit: I don't know if I switch it over to 5 ghz it doesn't connect to anything at all. The wifi on this phone totally blows that's about my only gripe I just use the mobile network cause I know out won't drop!
Question: is there any possible way to actually just increase the power of the wifi? Or does that need some kind of patch or something? It would be nice to use wifi when not sitting directly in front of the router

So today at my highschool I got the password to their wifi. First thing I did was download some roms of from here and my friend has an iphone we both downloaded a file that is 300mb and his was about 2MB/s while mine was stuck at 100kbps/s. Any reason to this ? Any way to fix this?
What was your download source? Lots, but not all, file hosts throttle speeds way down.
You're better off using a speed test website (not an app) to compare to an iphone.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
It was mediafire his iphone is jailbroken and he just downloads any file really fast.compared to me.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Also my wifi disconnects every while and his just stays on all day.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
No problem wit the wifi speed on android.. May be he is using some app to increase the speed.. Try to chek the net speed next Tim.
I checked once again right now and he isnt using anything and still getting 2 to 3 mbps on download while im getting 100 to 200kbps
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
It may be your settings. In advanced wifi menu is it set to Always stay connected? If not it may turn off during deep sleep.
Also, I've heard of lots of corporate type networks (schools included) where android just didn't didn't work as well as other systems. I'm not sure why though. Its possibke that his is connecting using N standard and you're connecting using G....just a thought.
Try doing the same tests from your home or other open network and see if your results change. I consistantly get 15-20Mbps down and 3-4Mbps up with peaks up to 30 down 6 up. So I certainly wouldn't call it slow! (Mid signal btw).
I can get faster when I'm connected at 5Ghz, 40Mhz.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Those low speeds are not the norm. Try downloading something from another source. Your friend may have a mediafire account which will unthrottle the download speeds
Same at my home my bro has an ipod touch and I tested yesterday and got 200kbps - 300kbps on my s3 and he got 1.5mb im not using the speedtest app im just measuring how fast the downloads go. Is this an android problem because I have an evo 3d and the same thing happens as well

No issues for me. WiFi connects to our home n router and my schools WiFi no issues. Very fast at my school and same speed on my home router. Wow dude my wife would kill me. Did all your apps redownload after you flashed? Every time I flash a new ROM, my phone redownloads all my apps for me. So every time I go right to the play store and stop all downloads. Or kill your data. The only app I redownload is titanium backup. If I was smarter I would probably just save it to my SD card. Hope this helped.
Apparently, redownload isn't a word. Thanks, autocorrect.

Take a deep breath...now relax. Hunt around and you'll see that it was due to some stuff that got merged a while ago. Long story short, it's an error that does not reflect actual data usage. It erroneously totals numbers crazy high.
I don't think he would have 33 GB of apps! Plus that much data in just 3 hours? Something is skewed!

Actually he could, the magic of 4G. It could be incorrect data measuring, but OP, are you on AT&T? If so, dial *3282# to see the amount of data used that month. Accidental thanks for you diablo

Yea good luck getting 33 GB of data in 3 hrs without getting throttled. That ain't real
How much free space did you have?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
3G average speeds are about 3 Mb/s, so lets do some math! 33.5 GB=about 268Gbs. 268 times 1000=268000. 268000 divided by 3, giving you the amount of seconds it would hypothetically take. You get 89333.3. You divide that by 60 for one whole minute and should get 1488.88, which you divide by 60, to find out how many hours it would take to download at that speed. Which is 24.814 hours. There you have it, not very plausible.

Right. My mistake. I just tried a converter, and to download 11 GB an hour, you need atleast 26Mbps sustained, and on AT&T 4G LTE, average of 36 Mbps is quite the norm for me. So it is actually possible. Thanks Rani.

Try the other APN.
Two are listed from bell.
When in Vancouver or Kingston/ Toronto I can go on XDA over the network...
But when I am in Belleville Ontario I can't connect to XDA for example.
pda.bell.ca has given me issues at times and I have better luck with inet.bell.ca
Next time I am in a XDA dead zone I'll switch around my apns and see if that helps.
But I am sure inet.bell.ca I'd the better one.

Hello, so I've been I've been searching around and haven't come up with a definitive answer. I've had the s4 for a couple months now and have been using an excessive amount of data, when I haven't been doing anything out of the norm. With my s2 I had a5 gb plan and only got throttled once in awhile, but with the s4 my data has jumped tremendously. I've used almost 16 gb this month and 21 gb last month.
Android os is to blame for 6gb this month and 12 gb last month, all clocked in as back ground usage. Why? Wth is this phone doing to use so much data. . I have unlimited no throttling plan, but if I was still on 5 gb I'd be screwed. I just would like to know how I can stop this.
Thanks

Dude, nothing on your phone, other than maybe a torrent client, can use 21 gigs of data without your consent. And since its saying "Android system" is responsible for the data usage, its you tethering. Period. You asked, so i answered.
What part of saying I don't tether other than hotspot which I'm limited to 500mb from Tmobile do you not understand? Also said I haven't increased use from my what ive done on the gs2 and actually there are several posts online of others experiencing this as well but no solution. Your attitude isn't going to get anybody to help you. People are offering you advice, no need to be rude.
As far as your data, it can be many things. I would start by keeping track of each app's data usage over a few day span.
What towle is saying is right. We do this to try to help people. We don't get paid for this. We do this voluntarily, and if you have a bad attitude nobody will want to help you.

yes, this is Def a real issue, tethering is Def not the cause for one thing it shows as it's own data consumption for hot spot Tmobile Gave me the same and kept telling me you must be doing this and that. some people have had these problems from what i've seen in the forums.
I myself had a buggy gps which fixed after i flashed darkstalker rom
I havn't checked on the Torrent problem in a while but i think it was unresolved and some people just get slow speeds with torrents only.
My cousin also had this problem so we went to a shop and let the tech fix it. He's afraid to fix it by himself hehe

Torrent downloading is different at different times, depends on the ratio, if you're complaining about 1.1mb download speed, then you should kill yourself
I have weaker signal than my note 2-
and buggy gps... it likes to just make the icon disappear and then 10 seconds later comes back sometimes it does it over and over and over others it decides to work...

You must be retarded the exact same torrent on the exact same network in the exact same location on the exact time of day with the exact type of service bars and one is going twice as fast as the other ? And no I'm complaining about paying 700 bucks for a phone and 200 bucks for a network that isn't working right and not giving me the speeds I want so no I won't kill my self I'd think any one would do the same and try to correct the issue

Torrent downloading is different at different times, depends on the ratio, if you're complaining about 1.1mb download speed, then you should kill yourself

Just to to enlighten your moronic retarded self, torrents speeds do with alot more then "ratio" there are legions of factors that effect torrent speed and iv tweaked all of them and still a torrent with 10000 seeds and 500 leaches won't go above 20kbps now while my s4 and s3 are going well above 1.1 mbps there is something wrong with the note 3 I simple want to know if there is a way to fix it

Is Knox still intact on the phone? If so pretty sure that's the cause....

My note 3 is all around buggy. I switched my data limit from 2.5 gb to 3 and it rebooted. Bootloops ones and turns on. This happens all the time now. This phone has SO MANY BUGS I'm really considering rooting it to get a custom rom bug free.

Are you rooted or have any root apps that could be causing it? I similarly had the same issues until I disabled Knox
