Hey guys, I'm trying to make a Stock Debloated Rom, but I cannot figure out the updater-scripts.
I will explain what I did and please inform me if I did something wrong or if you have some helpful info.
I downloaded the stock 4.2.2 MDL stock .tar posted in the dev section. (Odin to stock).
I flashed in Odin to stock.
Rooted, installed CWM and made a backup.
Moved the backup to my pc.
Grabbed the .tar.a file (deleted the"a") and used it in dsixda's Android Kitchen.
I got a "working" folder.
Went in to system/app and deleted all "bloat".
Here's where the problems start.
I try to create the rom, it asks to Zipalign and every time I try, the zipalign fails.
So I skip that.
I sign the rom, then it generates the .zip.
Then it gives me an error saying "Error, no system/framework found!"
Do I get that from somewhere else, or us the kitchen supposed to make one?
It still makes the output .zip so I try it out.
Whenever I try to flash in TWRP I get updater-scripts errors.
I dont know why, but the update-script/updater-script the Kitchen generates ends in error.
Did I do something wrong?
Am I missing something?
Please, any info would help.
This is getting pretty stressful and ive been at it for about a week now and still cant figure it out.
Shoot me a reply or even a PM.
Thanks.

Update your kitchen. Dsixda's android kitchen 0.224 is an updated version to handle the updater script. There is a difference between the s3 update script and s4 updater script. The new kitchen handles that for you rather easily. Just keep selecting the default selections if building in interactive mode.
Hope I helped. I had the same problem. 0.222 isn't setup for our phone. I just deleted the old kitchen folder and placed the new one in its place

Thanks a lot man, at work ATM but I will try that later.
To update, I just hit the update button while Kitchen Main Menu is up?
I remember seeing an "update android kitchen" option.
Will reply back if if worked.

Okay, just converted the .tar into a working folder.
When the folder is made, it just says "error: no system/framework found". Do I need to pull that from somewhere else?
But it still makes the working folder.
I made it into a flashable zip, gonna flash now through CWM and see what happens.

EDIT:
1.EC09 Deodexed System Rom only, must flash over stock EC09. No Radio or Kernel included. Only scripts to Root and install busybox.
[EC09_Stock deodexed root+busybox.
exported from nandroid. full deodex and rooted in kitchen.
full system intact [bloat etc.]
Must have EC09 running.
reboot cwm recovery
wipe cache and dalvik
flash EC09_STOCK_DEODEXED.zip
reboot...
Now you can pull files to edit and theme. Using the tools found in theme section.
I did release initial ics theme for ec09 in my themes thread.

finally a post at last lol. when u get the kernal and radio going ill be testing it out for sure and ive always wondered is there a change log somewhere that shows the changes from eco7 to eco9
Confirmed to root stock kernel by one member. Anyone else? If u want to debloat yourself by opening zip with 7zip and delete apks you don't want.
There will be more roms up soon. Not only by me. Stop in irc to see what's new.

Hi,
I have some n00b questions that I would really appreciate some help on...
1. What is the significance of "No radio or kernel included."?
2. Why do I need these to move from EC09 Odexed >> EC09 Deodexed?
3. Where are these files? Can someone link me to them?
4. When I get them, how do I flash them in conjunction with the EC09_STOCK_DEODEXED.zip?
Thank you for taking the time !

What ROM are you currently running? If you're already on EC09, your task is simple; go in to CWM and flash the deodexed ROM.
No radio or kernel means you need to already be on EC09 before flashing this EC09 deodexed ROM.
The easiest way (in my opinion) to get the radio and kernel you need for EC09 would be to back up any data you'd like to keep (apps, texts, contacts, etc), revert back to stock DL17, do the OTA to get up to EC09, and then flash the deodexed EC09 linked in the OP through CWM.
Hey guys. Here's the android.policy.jar file that includes the ability to skip tracks when the screen is off with the volume keys along with the 4-in-1 reboot mod.
When I get the time, I will write up a tutorial for devs. Although, you could just decompile the classes.dex and diff the original LJ7 with this one to find out how to do it if you don't want to wait for my instructions. I'm so swamped with other things that I can't quite yet write them.
A few things were changed in Jelly Bean so the original 4-in-1 reboot tutorial won't work unless you change a few things.
PS: this is for deodex roms

Hmm. how strange.....maybe you need my services.jar too (disable signature checks)
But i'm using it on the standard deodexed LJ7 ROM. I'll include the services.jar in a sec.
EDIT: Can someone try this one real quick?
Might wanna try clearing dalvik after flashing. The system should automatically detect a change and clear it for you, but if you're getting stuck on a black screen, try clearing it manually.
Waiting to see if this will work with sextapes JB tar rooted. I think its odexed since its stock. I injected root through mobile Odin pro

So some of u know of thia status 7. Which is the updater script, checking for the right phone model. Some devs i guess mess up on this and they dont install correctly. My problem is the guide says to change updater-script by putting .txt to edit it. So i did what i had to do then i came back and the .txt was gone and now i cant rezip it.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Why are you editing it in the first place if it's checking for a different device model?
And on the Windows the extensions are hidden by default.
Becuz its on every rom. Ik for a fact its for the L710. But cwm current recovery is tweaked for some ppl and cant install roms. My problem is getting the updater-script file back to its original state after getting rid of the problem that aborts installing a new rom. How to do u see the extensions then.
And cnexus u mention using boot manager to dual boot. If u scroll down it says it definitely doesn't support samsung devices

Do you mean the AOSP roms?
My understanding the new cm10.1 based aosp roms check for the updated bootloader that comes with md4. All you have to do is flash the md4 aio firmware update that's in Freeza's thread. All the newer aosp roms will flash correctly. That's what I've been reading for a couple of weeks. Trying to alter it as you are is ridiculous in my opinion as the purpose is for it to check that your phone is on the newest bootloader for a reason.
Sent from the future via Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
My way is just as easy. Just take the updater-script and delete everything till you get to where it says "source". Its some peoples recoveries or something a dev messed up on. But i finally got out of rc2 and on to liquid smooth
Any rom not just aosp. Im assuming. Everytime u install a new rom it checks if u have the right phone. Well if somthen isnt right and u know u got the right rom u can edit it and basically hard install it

I dont really see many people posting MOD's for ROM's instead there a million ROMs of the same thing and basically simple mods. I figure I can start by cranking out some mods if I got time.
MOD Buffet would be great instead of a ROM buffet. Makes it easier to learn what changed and how to change things in the future.
Agreed, I would like to do a lot myself. I'm glad you're jumping on it. It's definitely appreciated.

Just restore in TWRP. It is very hard to brick an android device with a system only write. All this was replace your android policy jar and odex in the framework folder. You can probably just flash the Rom you had on your phone previous the flash of the mod and should be fine.

I just flashed it and my phone sat at the Samsung screen on reboot. I restored my backup in TWRP and all is well.
Restore didn't work.
It looks like someone has gotten an Odin version of the OTA, so I guess I'll have to go that route. I did a full backup, so hopefully I'll still be able to access some of the files I've added the last couple of days that I hadn't had a chance to backup to my computer yet.
Or, if it's truly bricked, looks like it's time for a new phone!
I just pulled the mod. Proof enough for me it doesn't work universally. I seriously doubt you hard bricked your phone. This is very hard to do using functions of recovery with out a script built to do so.

I hope you're right. I tried all afternoon to get it back up with no luck. I took it in to a Sprint store and they, too, were unsuccessful. I may try again later, but in the meantime I'm having to reactivate my old HTC EVO Shift.
This, for the most part, is not my work. What this is is @DocHoliday77 's port of the sprint SGS3 4.4.2 ROM, which I have repackaged into an Odin .tar.md5; the point being for those who would rather flash this via ODIN instead of twrp/cwm.
You can thank DocHoliday77 for his hard work here, all I did was edit the build.prop and repackage with multiboot. Download link below.
Included in this .tar.md5:
-System image, with build.prop edited to accurately reflect our device.
-multiboot 2.12 recovery image (for those who don't know, it's TWRP 2.7 with the added ability to boot other ROMs in a sandbox)
-KT747 boot image, which is included with the original port flashable zip.

Not sure as I cant read your language, sorry. But one part says its LI1 and another says ND3. First, the bootloader/firmware version MUST be a 4.3 build.
Second, what is the ND3? Is that some sort of test build? Or did I miss something somewhere?

It does yeah, but I tried it without the md5sum and it failed as well, just after nand write start. On the download here the md5 check fails because the binary is supposedly invalid.
The system image was made by running mkfs-yaffs2-x86 on the system folder from the original port zip, running unyaffs does unpack it, but something is definitely not right with this image, I tried using unpack-ext4 on windows which usually works on odin system images but it didn't on this one.
Making an odin flashable isnt a straight forward process for the S3 it seems. MrRobinson is the only one I know of off hand that has an effective process to do so. He only gives clues to his process in his op. Ive done one a long time ago, but I think what I had to do was take tar the system.img dumped directly from the device using the dd command.
If I remember right, it had to be done immediately after flashing, been too long though so I cant remember for certain.
So if I am recalling it correctly, flash the rom, factory reset, then while still in recovery, using either adb or the built in terminal emulator, use dd to dump the image to your sd card.

It's a Stock 4.3 bulid from Telcel, Mexico, in SamMobile says this:
In english:
Ok, thanks for the clarification on that. Once its confirmed working, you should be able to flash it just fine. If that baseband is not 4.3 though, you will likely have to update it as well.
For now though, you can always just flash the rom this was built from. Should get you exactly the same thing, only the method is different.
