ubuntu touch for E4GT? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey guys, I am curious on where the development of porting Ubuntu touch to the Epic 4g Touch is, if anyone is working on it that is? Ubuntu touch looks very nice so far, and I am hoping someone is working on a port. Also, I am not sure if this does in original development or the help section under the 4g touch. If it needs to be moved, please let me know or do so. Thanks.

At the moment no. Ubuntu touch doesn't support CDMA networks at the moment.

Porting webos 3.0 (or 2.0) to epic

Is it possible to port webos to the epic, the hp touchpad has qualcomm processors as does the hp pre 3 so they we have some relevance even though we are hummingbird. So is it possible since they have a community porting android onto the hp touchpad. I just don't like the hardware hp has to offer. There was also a report that the ipad 2 could run webos better that the touchpad. I would just be interested in a project like this for the epic since no other android phone currently has it. thanks

Well they are either killing webos or open sourcing it or licensing it.

You realize we don't have aosp and it is just another version of android? I just don't see it happening

I would love to see/work on this, but it's not the same task as going WebOS to Android.
Going Andriod to WebOS would probably be more challenging due to the development structure of WebOS...Android is built to be conducive to a variety of hardware implementations and it's, for the most part, open source.
From my understanding, simply porting WebOS from one native device version to another took some serious programmatic gymnastics.
It would be very cool if HP opens the code.

Are you trying to say WebOS is a version of Android?...If so, it's not...There may be UI similarities, but the underlying code base is different, at least last I looked...It's been awhile though.

Noo he's saying that we can't even get a fully functioning aosp rom working, so what makes the op think we could get another os running.
That's what I read anyways

Thanks for the English-to-English transalation...I just wasn't sure...I'm still working on my forum reading interpretation skills.
Once we have a full port of something like AOSP, MIUI or CM7, then we can ask questions such as this =)

You're right. Ubuntu Touch's based on CM10.1, which isn't even stable. You can imagine that Ubuntu Touch would/will be even worse as far as performance, battery life and that stuff is concerned. But not only that... Don't forget that the WFS is a 2 year-old phone with 3,5 year-old hardware. Even if you managed to port it successfully, it would just be a... "nice-to-have", but not a daily driver.
we can't port or build ubuntu touch because we don't have sufficient NAND for it.
Guys lets not be too hostile towards poor Mahesh. He wanted to create a thread that would help us. No need to start offending his idea. I suggest that some of you apologize.
Really sorry to disappoint him, unless Ubuntu touch has the ability to boot like android on sd card,I think it would be able to work! I am not sure if Ubuntu touch will support that.

[Q] Ubuntu on LGOG?

I feel like I've heard of this somewhere else, and I know I've seen examples of Ubuntu touch on the Nexus 4, but have there been any Ubuntu touch ROMs (ported or otherwise) for the LGOG? I couldn't find any discussions about it anywhere else and I know for sure it's something I want to try out.

Check the Canadian development forum. There's a very alpha-quality build for the E971/E973 available in there.
