Anyone know why the Note does not automatically change time zones when traveling. All of my other devices do even if they do not have a cellular radio including my Nexus 7. Thanks so much for all the advice.

Did you check the box that said "automatic time zone". In Date and Time?
Thanks, however the setting is not on the Wifi version unless I am missing something.

Go to: Settings.....Date and Time....Automatic time zone.....check √

Short answer is no, I've not seen this problem whilst trawling the forum. Have you created a profile in your Google account?
Really need more info: country, ROM, Radio, Network etc.
Has it always done it or recent? Have you changed something that seems to coincide? Have you tried a hard reset?

i just noticed it. i have no idea how long it's been going on. i've changed the rom/radio a few times already so it's hard to pinpoint which change could have caused it. and yes, i've tried a hard reset.
Figured out what's causing this. Everytime the phone is placed in airplane mode, the phone number gets erased.

That is strange. Glad you found the cause but it's still a bug. I have the same ROM and Radio and don't have this issue.
Would still like to know the proper cause of this.
Does it lose the number if you reboot the phone?
Just for curiosity, could you put the phone in airplane mode then if again after an hour the number still doesn't return, go to settings -> wireless & network-> mobile networks -> network operators
Let it do it's thing for a minute or two (searching) and then select your network from the list. Then check to see if your number has returned?
It really is a curiosity thing. Sorry I can't be more help.
Is there a way to setup the phone so it will only use your home wifi when it is available? I don't want to manually have to change this all the time. I want it to use my home network when it can connect to it. If it can't then use 4g. Anyone?

In cyanogen there are profiles you can set.
But if you're stock there are third party apps that you can use. I believe they even track your location to know if you're home or not.
Or just leave WiFi on all the time and it will connect when in range. But might kill your battery quicker since it will be scanning constantly

Click the thanks button on the left side under the name and post count. If you're on the xda app just click the post.
I'm pretty sure the phone will only connect to a network when you tell it to so you can just leave wifi on. From my experience wifi didn't really use that much more power. It'll just connect automatically within range.
Additionally, there's ways to change the scan interval times so it doesn't check constantly.
If you wanna impress some folks buy some Nfc tags and set them up.

Hello, and before you read this, yes I am a noob, with very little experience in ROMs and rooting.
I am doing extensive research before I flash Cyanogenmod 10 on my Galaxy S3, because the last time I tried, I screwed everything up and bricked my phone (trying to unlock the bootloader, which was the stupidest 700 dollar desision I Have ever made.)
I was wondering if LTE, texting and everything else on my plan will all work.

Yes it does work.
Using it right now.
Basically when you install CM10 ,,.set the correct apn
then after with *#*#4636#*#*
then pick phone and choose LTE/GSM auto (prl)
then after in mobile networks choose LTE

You no longer have to use *#*#4636#*#*. Just choose gsm/lte under settings.

You can go from box to CM10 within 30min of opening a SGS III from a fresh box..
I did that for my dad heh he only saw touchwiz for about 15min.

Mine is not prayed out. Did you root your phone? Currently Mine is full stock
Works fine for me on T-Mobile version.

Mine started grayed out so i set everything to high accuracy and left it for a day...now i can turn it on and set it up...very strange

Same issue here. Mine is also grayed out. I've tried many ways to solve it but in vain. I am going to try jerflash's manner. It is indeed very strange!
I really wish this worked via Wifi networks. Mark X wifi network as home, and Y wifi network as work. I dont run GPS unless I need to. But it would be nice to have things toggle based off wifi or even just a general location. My work and home are 50mi apart, phone should be able to tell where I am haha

I've solved this problem!!!
Someone told me that "my place" can be only set on while using mobile network. If you use Wifi, "my place" can not be set on. This works with me! So happy I finally can turn on "my place" and use the smart setting. Hope this also works with you. Good luck! :good:

For anyone who comes here from a search: LG phones with Smart Settings only seem to work if mobile data are enabled. So if you have limited data allowance and keep mobile data normally disabled, you're out of luck.

I just bought a mi mix 2, and 2 days it had no problem, but yesterday it had no signal and a restart did the trick. The second time, the restart+reset the phone didnt fix it, so i was helpless until the 9.6.1 global stable came after reset and it fixed the signal/call problem.
Another thing, in the first part of the problem i had no signal, after that i had signal but i couldnt make calls.
Do you think its a software problem or hardware? or it could have been a signal problem from the company i have the sim?
It sounds like your network settings might not be configured correctly. I would find the APN settings that your carrier recommends and see if they are the same that the phone is using. You might also want to contact your carrier and verify that your new phone shows up properly on their end.

The APN is corect, i looked online. I will try to make a phone call to them and see what`s up.
Anyway after the 9.6.1 stable global, the problem fixed(i hope).
I was asking if anyone has ecountered this bug/problme on their phone.

This problem has occurred with some users when the network settings aren't set correctly. Mine defaults to gsm/td-scdma/lte instead of gsm/wcdma/lte. Use *#*#4636#*#* to double check whenever you reboot your phone.

It's not a question of better or worse. The setting you have is for China. Just change it on both sims and it should work.

So far so good, but i didnt leave the city like last time when the signal went dark. So i hope its ok even when i will leave.

Yes. You have to reset it after every reboot.
