all cm/aosp/aokp roms are having those problems with the battery life...but you can try Alex-V kernel repacked for your aosp or cm rom...if you don't know how to do that please search for that...if then battery life isn't good enough install a sense rom and it will be fine....sorry but it's a known problem with those no-sense roms....

Hi all
I recently unlocked the bootloader of my arc (that was scaring lol, im was so afraid that my arc would be bricked but luckily it didn't ) and flashed CM7.2 to it. However, I don't know which kernel should I use with CM7. I found from the Internet that there are 2 possible kernels(?) which I can flash:
1. The one comes with the package of CM7.2
2. DooMKernel CM7here
I am now using the one comes with CM7.2, and I tried DooMKernel CM7, only it supports boot sounds. But which kernel is the best that I should use with my arc? Please advice
Also, I found some webpages/forum posts telling that battery calibration is needed after flashing CM7, is it also necessary for arc?(Also, how to do so?) Because I found out that battery "drain" is worse on CM7 but I don't know if it is only a problem of calibration but not actually drain.
Thanks a lot
Ivan
better use kernel inside the package cause doom cm7 no longer maintain(still waiting for new version from doom),i read from internet that when you flash a new rom,it will think that your battery is in full condition, even if it is actually 50% or less,so calibrate it(search google),and try 3 or 4 cycle(charging and discharging) till get the best batt life,gd luck

I took all of the steps with various kernels and had serious drain on mine with 7.2 10% / hr, idle with screen off. I found that 7.1 from cyanogenmod had no problems for me.

All the JB sense roms have pretty much the same battery life.
Renovate and Orio are themed rom and rest of them are stock.
Hi guys,
i know that this question been asked already but being not so smart would like to ask first before doing anything..
Running CM10 FX210 on xperia s at the moment everything seems fine pretty much it's just battery seems similar to official ISC ..main reason for using custom rom was to improve battery..now I've been reading that there's few other kernels you can flash in recovery with better battery life..problem is which one i dare to use..some people getting stuck on bootloops after flashing ...also people suggesting that should stay away from custom roms such as CM because they use more of battery since they preform really good..maybe I shold try any stock rom?Any suggestions?
appreciate any response on this silly questions...
p.s. so my point just need rom or kernel for cm10 with good battery life...no need for playing games or to be superfast etc...:silly:
The only custom kernel for CM10 I think is Nova... It should be better than stock but... The best is relative. At the first 4 versions of KA kernel, for example, most people loved it, phone was way better, but mine never liked it... So it wasn't the best FOR ME.
thanks for reply mate..
I'm trying to download latest which is NovaKernel-nozomi-1.6.zip but it doesn't want to start download..any mirror link for this?
Should i go for latest or read somewhere that 007 version is the best battery friendly but seems way to old to 1.6?
one more question..
How to install stock rom over CM10 in my case? Do I have to use flash tool as well just put zip on phone and flash it?
thank you...

Go ahead with nova 1.6, it was giving me great battery life on aokp ROM.
Using the stock CM10 kernel. Battery life is much better than stock ROM / Kernel.
I use WiFi only when needed, 3G is off and brightness is 50%. Don't use much CPU except for a handful of widgets.
Will try Nova too.
I would recommend you the Nova Kernel
Switch your governour to "intellidemand".
I got appx 3 days with 4-5 hours screen time, by using 2G when screen is off and flight moder over night for 6 hours.
I can recommend Nova and KA as any othes of you, too =)
So Nova is the best .
Hi guys
I have this galaxy w which I had the stock rom with gingerbread.
I was searching for a custom rom for the phone and saw that there were cm9 cm10 and cm11.
I installed the new cm11 by arco68 but I'm having problems with the battery with greenify already installed.
During the night when I was asleep in 3 hours used 10% of my battery.
I'm new in roms and android development, so can anyone help me and tell me the differences between each cm version?
Any version is more lighter with the battery?
What can I do improve the battery use?
Thanks in advance
Try CM9

Apparently Google claimed that 4.4 KitKat is designed for low-end phones. So use CM11
Smack that Thanks button if I helped!
XDAing from a N7105 powered by Illusion ROM.
Sent from a small country called Singapore.
P.S. Time for school, not much time for XDA
for me its cm9 or cm11
For me now the best battery saving ROM + kernel is CM 9 and hurtsky's kernel, it is just awesome, if you need battery then this is the right combination for you
CyanogenMod 9 + Hurtsky's Kernel.
and update Playstore Service 4.1.32

Can someone tell me which one of the CM9 Asradu posted kernels is the best for battery life? Thanks in advance!
Just wondering, since Kitkat is optimise for low RAM, does cm9 consume large amount of ram?

For me DarkCM11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618851 works pretty good. I use KhaN Kernel v1.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593327 and its runs pretty fluently + battery life is good

Im confused, I still see many reports indicating high battery drain on CM11.
btw, currently using "CM09 (EOL final) + Hurtsky's Kernel REV10" but want to know if I would have better options for extended battery performance.
thanks in advance, regards

Hi, I am new to installing ROM, I have study about 3 days and decided to apply darkCM11 with khan kernel, as you mentioned,
I installed CM11 and it worked, but The device was warm and battery drained fast, I installed it again with following tuterials and format sdcard0 this time, it get better but the main problem is to install/flash another kernel or update like khan kernel or philz touch, they are failed with status 7 ,
I tried to removed assert line from updater_script but it didn't work, It seems the os is now heavier than these works and I am confused right now,
please help me :
1- what to do first, should I install CM11 from scratch ?
2- for istalling khan kernel should I install Philz touch? and if so, what I should to do with the status 7 problem
I have installed CMR 6.0.4.5 and it works,

Still got issues?
I can send you instructions via pm. Just tell me if you need...
Hello! I've got a S4 mini black edition (GT-I9195 with stock 4.4.2) and as many other users I also noticed the battery drainage problems (standby uses too much battery). Is there no way of solving the battery consumption problem without rooting/flashing custom rom? (I don't care much for breaking knox as long as the problem gets fixed). I've read several threads about this issue, but still i need some advice on what's the best solution available these days.
Thanks!
You can try any custom kernel like on below ::
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592308 Thanks to @SilviuMik
or this :: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/development/kernel-brisk-v1-drain-patches-t2852609 thanks to @TheBootloader
Or you can try any stock based custom ROMs. Check out the " android dev " section.
Without root I am not entirely sure how we can improve battery as main problem is with stock kernel.
Thank you sasank360! I did read the brisK thread before maybe I should it. What do you think its best, those custom stock roms or a cyanogen mod? I'm looking to solve that particular problem only.
Cyanogenmod 12 is great ROM. But for me the battery life is lower that other ROMs I tried. In daily use of about 14 hours I get over 2 and half hours of screen on time with cm12
All lollipop ROMs give me same result. But stock based roms give me atleast 3 hours of screen-on time and I will still have 10% left @ end of the day. All custom kernels for stock based roms are same for me. For CM12 or any lollipop roms you can use @F4k kernel. It offers underclocking and undervolting options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568479 This is link for f4k kernel.
I now belong to the "Knox 0x1 club", rooted and running CWM+brisK kernel, hope this solves the problem!
