Hi, some days ago I changed the Internet connection provider so I needed to change my sim (because my old one I wanted to use in the note was a normal sim, but I needed the micro one) so I went to a phone shop to make it cut.
I don't know how, the man, inserting the sim , just broke one of the connectors so him, after excusing with me, just told me he have made it fix.
The next day I came back there, and I gave me back my phone fixed, but as can I see, the piece is not the original one.
After that day, I noticed my note 2 just became hot more frequently than before (before it did only with hard games, now sometimes with Facebook or Chrome too).
So my question is:
Can the problem be hardware? Can it depends from that change? I didn't change rom or nothing from that day.
What should I do?

yes it can be so kick that man a## and ask him to get the original connector from samsung as due to that it can certainly be the cause of phn heating up and for your next use get a micro sim cutter from ebay it hardly cost even 2 dollars incaseyou use another sim soon
I want to come back there, but my fear is that he days me to wait for weeks for the original one.. I don't want to wait!

Hi all ,
I have been using my UK orbit for about a year with no problem (so far). For the the past two weeks though after a random use of 2 to 5 minutes it freezes! It either stays with what is on screen or returns a white screen. From today also the led is not turning on while charging and it wont turn on !!
I tried re flashing, rebooting, putting back the older ROM but the symptoms happen, no matter what ROM or application is used.
A few days before this started if a remember correct I had bled dry the battery (in flight). But everything was ok for some time.
I would be really glad if someone could help me out, I really like ORBIT and wouldn't like to leave it. Keep up the good work for this magnificent site
I had the exact same problem with my P3300. It's a malfunction in the Motherboard. I've called the dutch helpdesk and because a hard reset didn't do much good the PDA was picked up later that day to be sent to Eurotwice, the repair station in Belgium. I got my phone back 2 weeks later, I started it and it froze again! So I immediatly called HTC Netherlands and again, the P3300 was picked up by UPS that afternoon. The second time I wrote a letter to the repair station and sent it with my phone. In another topic on another website I read that some other phone with the same problem had been fixed by replacing the motherboard. I got my phone back today and it works great! It hasn't crashed today, and I have confidence it won't in the future. So my tip to you and anyone who experiences this problem: Call the HTC helpdesk in your country and ask them to sent your PDA to a repair station. It might take a while but they fix it well! By the way, you have 2 years full garantee so it didn't cost me anything! Great service from HTC!
Hi guys!
I've been RO this section for several months, voted for its creation, but today i've finally got this epic device!
I tested it with *#0*# tests at the customer (ukrainian e-shop), took it home..
there i've switched it on, caught my home wi-fi, installed skype, firefox, got my google profile etc. Everything went great and amazed me (especially after my old QVGA Nokia N85), i even got smth like 3800 antutu score on xxla2 stock rom
then i decided to insert a SIM card in it, switched it off normally, inserted SIM and tried to switch on.. but upon pushing Power button i've got nothing .. any vibro, sound or smth on screen!
i've pulled the card out, but nothing has changed!
First of all i've tried to charge it for an hour, but no reaction..
So now i don't know what to do with this $370 piece of plastic (except than going to the service tomorrow...) i haven't even rooted it, so there will be ok i think
Maybe anyone here is able to advice something helpful? Thanks in advance
P.S. My SIM card is OK, works in some other devices, like my bro's Ace
P.P.S. Maybe my English is not so well, sry, i'm tryin' my best
You are charging with the wall charger or with the microusb cable? I had a problem with mine that look like your problem.
After a night charging my galaxy appears to be dead, I try pressing power, power+home, power+home+vol up and nothing happens.
I took the battery out, put again try turn on and no sign.
After an hour I start to role out the possible errors and I find that I pluged the fone on my microusb cable wich is disconnected from my PC, so I used the wall charger and fully charged the phone, no problems so far besides my stupity
used a normal wall charger, either it's stock one or my bro's one, both of them charge his Ace normally...
it's 8th of march, in Soviet Ukraine it's everything closed due to holiday, so i have to look at thus dumb plastic until Monday
I'm a noob so sorry if I can't answer your problem.
But as far as I remember, it's either I immediately put my SIM card before turning the freshly bought phone on or I didn't use anything important like Wifi and such...just tried to see the applications drawer and was like :O.
Maybe it's somewhat connected to what you did before you insert your SIM card..
ok, i used it a little bit but i think it's hardware problem.. i've seen and unbricked tens of phones like nokia and symbian-based samsungs, so i think i can determine, whether it's hardware or software problem
You can use your phone without SIM, I did, until I bought SIM unlock code!!!! No probs with WiFi....or Apps....just no Network..
so that is not the problem here!!!
Did you backup your apps??
In settings/privacy....
were backup data and auto restore checked?? Not sure if they are by default....but this would have backed up Apps and data to Google servers!!!
I would do a factory reset in recovery.....
you have default Stock Samsung Recovery on your Phone....
Use [Power] [Vol+] and [Home]...
3-button combo.....until you see the phone switching on......release power button then.....
release both the Home and Vol+ buttons when you see image of Android man with box.....
then tap menu button [left button]
you should be in Samsung Recovery....and there is an option for factory reset there....
Hope this helps!!!

i've tried a three-key combo, nothing happened.. phone reacts on nothing - just like it had no battery in it.. charged for 4-5 hours, charger is ok, battery is ok (around 4v output ) but the body itself is dead.. any symbols of life...
It sounds to me like problem with the SIM card slot. Try to look into that slot with small mirror if some contacts fell apart or badly bended, but anyway this is for service. It happens :-(
don't see any problems with SIM slot, looks as usual.. microSD slot is even still virgin, my Nokia N85 likes 32gb class 10 card, that was bought for SGW
waiting for tomorrow for service to open and will carry the phone there... i was amazed that service in 2 kms from my home is listed on sammy's website
So sorry man....if u can't get recovery or download.....u have to return it!!!!!
Better luck next time!!

Hey guys,
Today my Galaxy Note 2 dropped 2 times from like 70 cm.
No defects apart from the fact that Internet doesn't work if not on wifi :s
I reflashed the last mb2 stock rom via odin so I can safely exclude software/settings probem right now....
What can I do?
I'd like to not bring it to Sammy because it would take at least 2 weeks and I wouldn't know how to live.
Soo, what would you check first?

Not sure about the wifi antena location tho, but I one had the back cover not completely closed. On the back of it there are 2 pinns which where not propely connected, as soon as I closed it, all started to work as it should. Take your back cover out and see of the pins from the phone and from the back cover are in good shape!
Other than that it sounds as you might have damaged something, I hope that it is not the case
You have just reflashed ROM or also factory reset it?
Thank God it's nothing internal guys.
I changed the sim and Internet works again.
My last sim was a normal sized sim, cut by hand to fit the nanosim slot.
Maybe it has moved a little bit when the phone dropped.
What I still can't understand is why cell line is ok and internel is not, and why internet won't start if I re-insert it ( tried three times ).
It seems like the sim got damaged when the phone dropped ( as strange as it sounds ).
It's not more a priority anyway, in fact if mods want, this thread can be closed.
Thank you.
As the main topics of this forum are whining about the update situation, ranting about hardware defects and other unpleasant stuff (but justified, though), I'd like to share my recent - positive! - experience with HTCs support.
A week ago I decided to send in my phone because it suffered from the well know wifi-problem. I also mentioned that I had some screen flickering when the battery was running low, but I had lived with that for the last 18 months and it wasn't a big deal.
So, what did HTC do to my phone?
They replaced the wifi module. They replaced the bezel module (apparently something related to the display). They replaced the battery. And on top of that, they replaced the white cover, which had suffered from far too many falls to the ground. They reinstalled the newest firmware.
So, what did I pay?
Nothing.
Just picked it up, and in fact, I have a new phone, which will be good enough for the next 18 months of calling, texting, internet browsing, music, youtube, reference, a little gaming - with or without 4.4.
So, after my beloved HD2 died the day the One X was released in Germany, I immediately got one. And it is and was a great phone. It never reached the unbelievable community support the HD2 had (which never even received the last official version of windows mobile 6.5 from HTC), but it still is a great phone with a great design and user interface.
Okay, I just wanted to add this, hoping that there is still anybody here actually enjoying this beast of a phone

I just have to.... I returned mine 4 times because they didnt want to acknowledge the wifi problem and then the backlight problem. Then the newest update came (sense 5) and it broke my wifi. Called htc they said i have to wait for an update. Which took 3 months. Which means i couldnt use my wifi for 3 months... So yeah
I am glad for you you had a good experience.

i think it's just in nearly all other countries except of germany htc has really bad support...because in germany i got the problem with apx mode...bad wifi...bad battery life even with second battery...and housing was in a bad condition too...send it to them...and see there all except from the screen was new screen wasn't replaced because it was already like new and i just had to pay a few €for the delivering nothing more graet support in germany...but bad in others :/ ..
I had a good support from HTC repairing center in Middle East
I asked my brother to buy me the HOX from KSA is it was there much cheaper than here in my country Jordan , adn he biught it with an international warranty , I rooted it and Flashed a Custom ROM on day one
within a year I started to suffer from Black Screen of Death , I did send it to HTC local repair center but they claimed that the international warranty only covers software things so I decided to send it back to KSA with express shipping to my brother
there at KSA they replaced the Main Board without a question for free and my brother brought back with him , maybe I were lucky enough

Support in Holland is also very good, just had my volume rockers broken and they have fixed in a couple of days and fitted the latest firmware. And this time table was including sending it in and back with a courier. Happy with the HTC ( the same story applies to my old sensation).
yea i think in whole EU we have better support then somewhere else...but also here some guys were not so lucky like we :/ ...
Hi!
I've the zenfone2 ze551ml from four days and I'm very happy with it except the fact that in the last two days it keeps disconnecting the SIM in the second slot.
I don't relate it to anything particular: I've tried to shake the phone and tried also to open different apps but the problem seems to occur randomly.
It's very frustrating...what you think about it? Do you have any suggestion?
(Note: I've tried swapping the two sim card, the problem remains on the second slot and randomly it keeps asking the unlock PIN....)

Same issue for me with my brand new Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) since the first day.
I swapped the 2 sim cards but just the sim on slot 2 remains disconnected randomly but very often in a day (10-15 times).
It's very annoying.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've spent two days without the problem but yesterday .... "sim 2 disconnected".
The problem is back here again! I don't know what to do, I don't want to send it back to repair... :crying:
However after buying I've installed the two available firmware upgrades without any hard reset, I think that I will try an hard reset before contacting the customer service...
Is it the same for you t0uchfr3nch?
(well, I forgot an important thing: I'm italian and I have the italian ze551ml grey version with the original flip cover on)

Hi codecrusher! I'm from France and i've done the same thing as you.
I've done all OTA upgrades without reseting the phone too.
I'm just thinking about rooting it to see if it occurs again.
As you, I d'ont want to send it to repair because i've installed and set up everything.

Hi codecrusher,
so I think I've understand what's going wrong with that sim2 slot.
It's not a software issue, it's physical!
I've just inserted a tiny piece of paper in the sim2 slot then I've inserted the sim card below the paper.
The sim card is now compressed between the paper and the pins.
No more disconnections for more than 6 hours at this time.
I'll keep you updated at the end of the day.

I hope that your trick will definitely fix our problem but I'm afraid it can be a coincidence.

I can confirm you that I had no disconnection on SIM2 today. :fingers-crossed:
It seems fine now.
If it happens again, just try the paper thing.
Before doing this, i had a lot of disconnections this morning and no more now.
Good luck!

Hi t0uchfr3nch!
After your post I've removed the battery cover and I've seen that in effect there were disconnections every time the sim slot was pressed.
As you have advised I've tried placing paper in the sim slot but it did not work for me because I've noticed that on my zenfone the problem was with the pressure of the metal part of the slot and not with the movements of the SIM inside. At the end I have placed a piece of rubber between the battery cover and the metal part of the sim slot (in order to create a constant pressure on the metal part of the sim slot) and it has worked fine until.....today.
Today I have updated the phone with the new firmware and after the first reboot it has immediately started with that same weird behavior.... every little pressure on the battery cover caused a SIm disconnection. Now I've removed the piece of rubber and it works fine again.... Don't know what to say...
I'll keep this thread updated.

Hi codecrusher,
your issue is very strange and very difficult to understand. For my part, no more disconnection occured since the paper trick but maybe your problem is not exactly the same.
I'm sorry to say that but maybe you should think seriously on returning your phone to Asus to have it repaired or replaced.
Regards.
Same problem wirh my zenfone 5

Not anymore. The piece of paper did the trick.
I have also the problem with SIM 2 but the paper trick does not help ... what else can I do, why is it ... on the SIM card or on the shaft (hardware defect)?
hi there, if i'm not too late, this happen because the build of asus sim slot..
it suppose to build to hold the sim in place but some zenfone 2 does not hold the mircosim and the sim is able to move if you try to adjust the sim.
however i believed that asus KNEW this problem that is why on the cover there is 2 rubber stopper that is near the sim slot location. this is to STOP the sim card from coming out.
when you close the case, you need to align your stopper to block the sim from coming out, else you face moving sim.
it happen for both of my sim card btw. you do not need any other thing to block it unless you brought a back cover from online shop that is not original from asus.
I have the same problem in the sim 2.
I tried to make thick with a sticker on sim , but the problem continues to random.
I've solved the problem by ordering a new piece from China for about 8$ (included shipping).
I live in Italy and it takes about 20 days to arrive here.
Since it's a flex cable, the replacement it's not an hard operation.
You'll have only to:
-remove the battery cover of your zenfone
-remove the screws under the cover (they are common cross screws, if I remember well they are 9)
-remove the back plastic plate
-unplug the old SIM connector
-plug the new one
-reassemble the smartphone.
It's a month since I've performed this operation and everything is fine now.
Don't know if I can post links here.
However go on famous commercial chinese websites and search "Sim Zenfone 2 cable replacement" or something similar.

where did u buy the replacement from?
I've had the same problem, phone bought from Amazon it. I changed sim 1, but had sim 2 cut. Could it be because of that?
Anyway I solved with an hard reset.. Nothing more...
Hope this can help you!
