Hello! I wonder if I can get some help.
Im pretty new to custom roms, just today I managed to root, install CWM, and a custom rom to my phone. Which is now up and running.
However there is a pretty annoying detail in the ROM I flashed. The wifi icons (shown when scanning for networks) are nonsensical icons. Locked wifi networks show as skulls, unlocked show as the alarm icon, and I cant even see signal strength (same skull for all)
Can someone provide me with a CWM zip which fixes these to stock android? I would be very thankful.
Thanks for your time.

Hi,
I have attached the stock SystemUI.apk from .211. To get the stock icons for your status bar, kindly follow these steps -
1. Download the attached SystemUI.apk
2. Take your rom's SystemUI.apk [from the zip file or using adb pull].
3. Open both the SystemUI.apks at the same time with winrar and go to /res/drawable-xhdpi
4. Select and drag all the files from the original apk to your rom's apk
5. When it asks for compression option, chose store only.
6. Take the new apk and replace it with the one in your phone.
Be sure to set permissions like this -

Reboot and enjoy the stock icons Btw, kernel has nothing to do with status bar icons. All the icons are in SystemUI.apk

Hi!
Thanks for your answer. Ill try it when I get home. Are the icons on the Wifi search page also on the same apk? Those are the ones im looking for, not the ones on the status bar.
Can I take the systemUI.apk from some root directory using root browser or similar? I dont know what adb pull is :S
Also dont I have to decompile the apk?

No, you do not have to decompile the apk. PNGs can be changed without decompiling. Decompiling is required only to make XML edits or smali edits or any other changes in Android-Manifest.xml.

You have to decompile framework-res.apk with apk-manager.
By the way the zip I uploaded already has those modifications, so you can simply flash it and enjoy
Looking really interesting, Thanks.
But as this is a framework-res.apk modification flashing the file will revert my modified battery icon + crt sreenoff animation. Am I right?
I think so... You still can use the file that should be placed on /system/etc/permissions but then you only will have integrated sip calls when connected to wifi networks.

confirmed to work /w jvb!
this should work on odexed roms as well since the framework-res is an apk not jar.
for the ppl who don't want to touch the framework due to their custom battery mod, u can remove the apk from zip.
the framework-res.apk patch is only to allow sip calls over 3g as well, not wifi only.
Nice one!!!
Maybe ROM CHEFS could include this one to their roms
Yes, works with JVB. Hopefully we got install which enable 3G support without power-menu etc. damaging. Is it coming ?

I mean that after installing that first post file we lost fancy battery icons with percentage numbers etc.
I have installed only a file of your reference to "system\etc\permissions\" that sip integration is enabled now only with wifi. Is it possible to enable 3G-support now without battery percentage icon lost?
Can you make a cwm file for that situtation because I am not pro to modify framework.apk.

Did you sign it? Or do you just change file name after rebuild the apk from unsignedframework.apk to framework.apk?
Did you make liket this:
You first pull framework-res.apk from your phone
decompile the apk
make the changes
rebuild the apk
push apk back to phone?
What if there are also framework.odex or other files? Should I not to touch those?

actually, most of the process was handled by the apk manager. it took me 10 minutes overall, I followed strictly after the steps well described at the link.
I have deodexed fw, didn't sign it, was no need.
and yes, I did renamed the apk.

yes, I did. note that after the process of regenerating the apk finish, you still have to zip it but uncompressed, and rename (7zip).
then, I pushed the apk to the theme zip (using 7zip) and flashed it normally like an update.zip with cwm.
btw, I didn't use ADB tools at all.

Here is something which I did out of interest. I am not trying to replicate the perfectly able (and the BEST) CM7. Its just that i tried to make this as our theme. Works on both CODEROM versions.
What all I have added:
1. The CyanogenMod default theme (Orange) leaving the dropdown.
2. 'Calculator.apk' the dark one which looks a lot better than our normal calculator.
3. 'DeskClock.apk' the default clock widget of cyanogenmod. Better clock looks on lock screen and more alarm options.
3. (Optional) Bootanimation of CM7 as I liked it a lot.
How to apply theme:
1. Download the attached zip.
2. Copy to root of SD card.
3. Get into recovery.
4. Apply update and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
THEMES:
1. Download and update "CYANOGENMODdefault.zip" if you want the CM7 bootanimation.
2. Download and update "CYANOGENMOD(noboot).zip" if you dont want CM7 bootanimation but the theme.
NOTE: I havent changed the dropdown of the quickpanel. It is same as before but i have done a modification which you can see in the screenshots attached.

If you are running on KPH then do one thing. Go to /system/media/bootanimation.zip copy that. Use your root explorer to search the other bootanimation.zip and then replace that by this. In "MY FILES" menu, when I tap the "MORE" button i can't see names of commands such as "COPY", "PASTE" and more. Only after I tap one of them and hold, the text becomes visible. I guess it is a bug and shoud be removed. I am using codenexus.
I've installed your theme last night and I love the way it looks.
But I have a lil problem here; my notification bar is now missing. :-(
I've tried to change the setting of LauncherPro to make it visible but nothing happens.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I think that he mean that this theme doesn't really change anything instead of bootanimation and status bar icons. But please tell me is there any way to change the bottom dock style manually? Not by installing Launcherpro or sth like that. I don't like the standard android style (three icons) and I prefer touchwiz. When I install themes it never changes.

Hey sorry about not responding to that earlier. I found out what the problem was. The thing is that the update binary in the zip has some functions which work only on CWmod recovery. So if you are using your normal recovery, you will lose your status bar. After that you have to either repair it by applying some other theme or reflash your ROM.

First of all, credits should go to nims11 for this. I pm him and asking how to do that, it worked so I thought to write an extensive tutorial about this. Of course I am not held responsible if something goes wrong, read carefully instructions though it's quite simple, don't mind long explanation, is meant for new users too.
STATUS BAR TRANSPARENCY - WHAT YOU NEED!!!
1. This was tested on CM7.2 on both deodexed and odexed version. Also will work on ICS2. Probably will work on CM7.1 too but haven't tried this. Don't ask me if this will work on other modded versions of CM7.2, I don't know, and I am not willing to try.
2. You need a theme that supports transparency in status bar like Meizu, LunarUI, MIUI, Naked Simplicity, Orion and much more. Theme list can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167075
3. You need ADW Launcher along with theme to make this work. Remember to uncheck wallpaper hack in system preferences.
4. You need Root Explorer or similar app to be able to do have root access.
5. Before proceed with the method, backup SystemUI.apk from system/app (deodexed version) or both SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex (odexed version). A simple copy/paste to your sd card will also do the job.
PROCEDURE FOR HAVING TRANSPARENCY IN STATUS BAR
DEODEXED VERSION
1. Download this file http://www.uploadking.com/V7YWUIJ3UO and transfer to your SD Card (any directory)
2. Use Root Explorer and COPY file
3. Go to system/app --> Press the Mount R/W button on top of screen --> Now Paste. A message pops up to confirm that you want to overwrite file. Press Yes.
4. You will then get a message that systemui stopped responding. DON'T WORRY. Hold power button till phone reboots
5. When it reboots you won't have status bar. DON'T WORRY, IT'S MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS.
6. Use again Root Explorer, go to system/app, press again the Mount R/W button --> then find file SystemUI.apk --> Long press it till a menu pops up --> Click Permissions, it should be as this http://imageshack.us/f/843/screenshot1323167924787.png/ So permissions under file should be as rw-r-r
7. Reboot phone --> YOU'RE DONE.
ODEXED VERSION
The procedure is exactly the same as deodexed version BUT BEFORE DOING THIS YOU NEED TO DELETE SystemUI.odex from system/app using Root Explorer and having pressed the Mount R/W button in order to do so.
So when you're done and lets say you are using MIUI Theme it should look like this http://imageshack.us/f/856/screenshot1323169878975.png/. Different theme will have different icons or different transparency level, transparency is really theme dependant!
DON'T PANIC
1. If it doesn't work then probably you did something wrong
2. Remember that you have backed up original files so you're safe
ALTERNATIVE METHOD VIA CWM (as nims11 suggested) - ODEXED VERSION ONLY!!!
Just flash this through CWM http://db.tt/vlQvk1Nx

If you want to have a transparent status bar while using a different launcher then you need to download multi picture live wallpaper from the market. I'm here to ask a thing:
When i unboxed my XPERIA PLAY I and turned it on i looked to the black status bar on the phone framework and looked to the box framework that was more beauty and was blue with white icons.
Can someone tell me if its possible to get the original blue framework like the image i have posted above, thanks in advanced, and sorry my English :S.
The photo of the box us edited with the computer. The statusbar looks on every xperia play that is on stock "ugly".
You must be rooted and edit the systemui.apk to get this

One more thing, do a nandroid backup before you modify. And make it a flashable zip and flash it via CWM.

hi does anyone one know how to install custom battery icons through Rom Toolbox Pro app as it doesn't seem to work for me when I press install. I am rooted and currently using the Omega rom.
In Simplistic Framework (paid version) its very easy

thank you for the reply, I have tried the android Simplistic control app and still the same when I try to change its still the same blue circle battery icon that came with the Omega rom, I did notice something strange, when it comes to a certain percentage it would show the custom icon I installed then disappear after that. Any idea what the problem is??

You could always edit the battery icons yourself. Just paste the wanted battery icons into SystemUI.apk where the battery icons are supposed to be and push it into /system/app with the correct permissions and voila you're done.
Doing this quite often when there are themes I want to apply but they don't come in CWM flashable zip for the rom I'm using

Its not only about installing the SF app, you'll have to flash its content as well that is when you make changes on the control app it will reflect.

Just copy the systemui API from your system/app folder to your sdcard and open it using 7zip or similar program on your PC. Locate the icon files within the app, most likely under res/drawable/hdpi or xhdpi and copy the icon you want straight into the apk and overwrite. No need to extract the apk. Note this only works when replacing images. If you want 1% battery, you'll have to edit some xmls as well (dunno which one though).
And just copy the apk back to where you found it and give it the correct permission (644) and reboot.
