not sure if it's the latest firmware or the latest update to google maps/navigation but my phone used to be fine.
my issue is when my gps is navigating, the nearby roads/rivers seem to shift around a lot. the pathing is perfect but the visuals are really buggy.
i dont know how else to describe it besides the 3d rendering being extremely shakey/flashing/shifting around. it only happens while moving. if i'm stationary it can produce a steady image.
i think i'm finally going to switch to an aftermarket rom =)
have any of you recently run into issues like mine or found a solution to this?
Haven't seen it myself, but I rarely use maps anyway.
I do know that Google made a number of changes in the last couple of updates, some of which people have not been happy with. It could be that your just experiencing a bug. May get fixed in next update, but who knows.
Why not just go back to a recent but previous version? At least you'll know if its the app or the rom. If you flash the rom first you won't know for sure.

I have searched the forums and the web for any info around this.
I am trying to stream music from the grooveshark's html5 based website. While I can successfully do that from the stock OS, when I switched over to codefireX's CM10 based ROM it just does not work. The browsers, they all crash when attempting to play any music. I have tried this with stock browser, chrome and boat browser.
I noticed that there was a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010&page=174 discussing that this could be a flash issue. So I tried installing flash as suggested here.
But no luck... Any help, is much appreciated. I am new, so could not post this directly in the development forum. Thanks!

The new Grooveshark does not use flash anymore. It should be straight HTML5. What's happening is there is an issue with the HTML5 Implementation somewhere thats causing an issue.
What browsers have you used with Grooveshark? Also, have you considered using the Grooveshark Native App? http://mobile.grooveshark.com/android

You are right, its HTML5, but I thought I should try out everything just in case. I have tried this using Chrome, Boat-Browser and the stock browser and all of them crash when I attempt to play music. Whats strange is that the Stock OS from Samsung plays everything well, and so do other mobile iDevices.
The issue seems to be related to CM10 if my guess is correct, as Chrome plays everything well when used in Samsung's stock OS.
Regarding the native android app, it needs a paid subscription and I wanted to use the free one they offer as an HTML5 app.
thanks!
Is anyone able to play grooveshark music on CM10? Can someone try and let me know? html5.grooveshark.com
curious to learn...
thx!

It worked flawlessly on my HTC desire running JB but when I switched to CM 10 on my SG3 I can't get it working. Pretty sure its a HTML5 implementation or something along those lines. Any other html5 sites to try out to see if they work?
Has anyone been able to access the html5 version of grooveshark on cm10 yet?
Other html5 sites seem to be broken as well.
Did you try using the Grooveshark app?

On my note 2 the app has issues. It won't stream most of the time over cellular.
I can't get it to work on HTML5 either using Clean Rom which is based on stock.
Any insight would be nice as this used to work just fine on GB.
Finally someone with the same issue...

I have the same exact issue running Jellybomb Jellybean ROM on my SGSiii and experienced major Grooveshark fails when switching from ICS to Jelly. This goes for html5 browser and mobile app. I can rarely playback songs when on 3G and sometimes wifi. I never tried the stock Sprint Jellybean Rom so I cannot speak for it, and I have yet to mention on the Jellybomb dev thread because I'm still a noob building up my posts. I hope there is a fix on the dev side since I know there aren't that many diehard Groovehark users that ask for it...perhaps they will figure it out for us?...but perhaps this is just a major lapse for Grooveshark which is disappointing.
So....I contacted Grooveshark support and indeed they said that there is a major bug related to 4.1 and above. They basically said they would give me 2 months free for Grooveshark anywhere while they worked on a fix. They said an update to the app will hit sometime early next year!!! If you are paying for Grooveshark anywhere I highly suggest you contact them to get the service for free. The app still works great with a wifi connection albeit not perfect. They just requested I send them some Verbose Logs via the app which is very easy to do. Just go into settings and enable verbose logging and try to reproduce the error/failure. You can then send the logs thru the settings as well. Make sure to email support to let them know you've sent logs and which email is attached to that mobile account.
This must be a big bug for them to take so long for an update. I pray they aren't losing the battle with spotify and other free ad bloated services. But I must admit I am tempted to switch to paid Spotify service. Good Luck!
I am relatively new to flashing roms and playing around in the root of the phone, So I was wondering if S-voice is disabled or deleted on all custom roms or only the few roms I have tried.
I am currently running android version 4.2.2 with the 3.4.44- underwear kernel if anyone knows how to install a voice command software like S-voice that can access your apps for I found that usful on the stock OS of the phone for making appointments on the fly and texting while driving that would be awesome.
I appreciate any responses thank you
I'm running Jelly beans and it has them. Granted it's 4.1.2, but it is available for AT&T as well. Give it a try, you'll be able to pick the options you'd like during install.

I have been away from the XDA forums for a while but have recently got back in here and have been reading about my Spring Note II. I have not been able to locate a Rom that i would consider a (lite or light Rom) with absolutely bare bones as far as the apps on it. I do not want anything extra other than what it take to run this phone. I have experience with rooting as i have rooted every one of my phones and i go through them like crazy. If there is not a Rom out there like this does anyone have a link or list of all the apps that can safely be remove. I have been going through trial and error but it takes so long to remove an app wait to make sure it stays stable then back up & repeat. I know this has probably been mentioned before so please hang tight with me as i do not post random questions i havent tried to find myself first
Have tried Whompasaurus 4.2 & MacksROM Allstar
not that I'm aware. Some stuff is pretty obvious.
I prefer to get rid of as much as I can because I use different app, and I want my storage space for other stuff.

The obvious things I can get rid of easily. Its all the com.'s & different push services plus the apps with no icons just little Androids that im not sure of
Digiblur is debloated if you want Touchwiz. Slimrom is great if you want to go to Aosp.

Bell Canada released the 4.1.2 update for the S3 on June 28
I am considering whether to install it OTA as the last Bell update to the HTC OneS pretty much permanently prevented Google Navigation from working properly.
Lets look at what this update gets you:
1) More responsive stock keyboard: but there is a good chance you use Swiftkey (Still a great update if you use stock keyboard)
2) Multiwindow: Screen is way too small for this to be useful
3) All share: can be downloaded separately
4) Galley and camera updates: Haven't tried, but are these just cosmetic updates except for 2 new shooting modes?
Short answer: for many this updates doesn't do much
Risks:
Has anyone tried it and has information about the following:
1) 4.1.1 has a huge bug in mediaserver that causes massive battery drain when cataloging MP3 files on microSD. It also corrupts the card. (tested on 2 independent S3 phones with many microSD cards). There is no resolution to this problem except putting a .nomedia file in your top level music directory and using PowerAmp or the like to catalog and play. There are many issues that cause mediaserver to eat battery and this is only one of them. Has this been fixed?
2) Does 4.1.2 still respect the .nonmedia file flag and not catalog files there?
3) Are there any new major bugs introduced by Bell S3 4.1.2 ? (probably too early to tell)
4) Will I have to do a factory reset and deactivate again all the crapware Bell forces down my throat?
5) Does this update break any apps
After doing some internet research it seems that Google hasn't acknowledged the mediaserver issue and Bell doesn't release proper change logs. *Forum posts are mixed whether the mediaserver problem is resolved in 4.1.2 and one post said .nonmedia *doesn't work properly in 4.1.2.
If this update requires a factory reset then even when you do a backup with Kies, it will take 2-4 hours of hands on time to get your phone back to the way you like it plus another 1/2 hour of here and there annoyances over a month to get the custom settings back + the small learning curve. At a decent wage this update could cost 50-100$
If it breaks a single app the modest benefit of this update is outweighed due to the frustration of waiting for the app to be fixed to work with 4.1.2
Then there is battery life ..... the wild card. Better or worse after the update? At least one senior member has reverted back to 4.1.1 due to this on xda
Sorry Bell/Samsung ...... there is no chance in hell I am updating. Too little for too much risk.

Hey everyone! For the past long while, my galaxy has randomly been having huge lag spikes. Symptoms would be apps crashing, keyboard taking forever to respond, general extreme lag. And the battery would heat up way too much. I did a bunch of looking into the cpu processes, and at the top of the list would be some kworker application or the google search bar on the google now launcher. I have no idea how to fix the issue, and have tried multiple different roms but the problem still exists.
I am currently running a nightly version of carbon. I do have xposed installed if that changes anything. My phone is only 2 years old, and was running smoothly until now. Im worried it could be a hardware issue.
I could really use some help as i use this phone for notes and work in my courses, and any downtime is really bad for me. Ill provide any information necessary. Thank you so much for anyone who can help.

Well I'd say software for the simple fact it is a nightly version of a ROM. I'd suggest waiting for a stable build or getting a more stable overall ROM. I doubt it would be hardware issue, could be just some error in the code of that particular nightly.
Best of luck

Please can you install BetterBatteryStats app and post me a text log ? There's a thread to the app here on XDA. That will tell you how to get a log.
Do please freeze Google Now and replace your launcher. Also turn off Location Service for now.
