[Help] Changing status bar without xposed - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Does anyone know a way to change the status bar/WiFi/signal bar/battery color without using the xposed framework? I'm saying this because when I tried it on the latest CM 10.1.2 Stable build and the phone became barely usable as the performance went to crap. Also it couldn't change the battery color. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Do you know about something that I could do quickly? Because this sounds like it would take some time. Perhaps some root app on XDA?

Learn how to mod apks maybe.

No unfortunately I don't think there is a way to do this 'on the fly'. Its going to involve decompiling the apps and changing icons, adjusting colors, etc.
Like I said, its been a long time so its probably more involved now, but when I last used it, it actually was pretty quick and simple. Probably the fastest and easiest way you will find. Unless something new is out that I don't know about...

Please close! [Theme] [Update 12.13.2011] Whisper for Juggernaut {Now a beta release}

MOD PLEASE CLOSE THREAD.. I am not in the mood for bs drama....
Whisper is now in Beta release... v1 has been posted along with new screen shots!
So i just picked up my GS2, and decided to start a theme for Juggernaut... Looking around i really only found ports of other themes, so i thought why not start something new... So, Whisper was born...
What to expect is a nice clean theme... With the general understanding i do not create themes that have your normal look... I like to be different, so this will probably only meet the wants of those with the same sort of outside the box thinking...
I am going to start work on a less lavish... More mainstream theme as it seems thats what most want... I know my themes are very one off... And not for everyone...
Whats been done you ask?
- Accurate battery mod now fully pushed (% showing on a battery rather then romanns tweak)
- Edits made to download/volume bar xmls to blue
- Edits to lock-screen appearance...
- Massive edits to framework and systemui... MUCH more to come as i clean the theme up...
- New menu's all around...
More... Just, not on the tip of my tongue at the moment...
On and on... But really its a good basic start to things... Hence beta v1... Its much more pulled together then Whisper Alpha release
On the block to be done...
- Continue to touch all framework and systemui images/xmls
- Phone, contacts, mms, widgets... Themes...
Ooooodles of good stuff...
How to get her done...
- Download Whisper Beta v1
- Boot into CWR
- Nandroid
- Flash Whisper
- Reboot
I have also provided the image thats shown on my wallpapar... You need to play with things a little to get it lined up correctly, but as you can see it works out well...
I dunno, thats it really... More to come in the next week... Lots more i hope... PLEASE feel free to provide feedback...

When you go to wallpaper and select the image... crop it down and to the left... I will add it to the framework next release... and or give poeple a black status bar so they can have any wallpaper without having it look off with the current status bar

You know its always nice to see a new themer come to the forum. You kinda bashed Qasizia for doing ports and said you didnt have much to say. Well i have some things to say about your theme. Try something original instead of using uot. And your icons for your lockscreen were originally done by me. They have been around for awhile in all different colors but i did the original. So before you go claiming to be all original check your facts. But with that being said I have no hard feelings and if I can help in any way let me know.

Bashing him would have been his theme sucked... I never said that... I simply didn't have much to say about it as my themes tend to be one off and outlandish... Thats my personal preference ... I also said it was nice to see him post his own theme ... I wouldn't have said it if it wasnt true...
Nothing in my theme came. from uot.. I compile all my work by hand... everything other then the charging xml that I have had since I was a noob... and only use as a base to compile before i rewrite it for ultra smooth animations... was done by me... Not sure where you get anything uot in my theme... but I can promise you uot had nothing to do with my work... not to mention uot can't do what I did with my coloring or images... but you can go with that... be my guest...
Lets me finish by stating I went so far as to pm the hulk theme dev and offer assistance with anything he needed... I was very nice about it...
You have an issue past this, PM me

That would be amazing on some of the ICS themes out now. Would definitely download that.
I've been looking at how to do this since day 1. It's nearly impossible for myself to get it to compile correctly after editing some XMLs. I've tried numerous edits but none go through. I haven't tried EL29's mms.apk yet, though.

I hear ya there. I have the same problem with making XML edits to TouchWizCalendar.apk....I've tried decompiling with every dependency I can think of too. Some apks are just problematic. Its duke every theme has their own enemy apk. Lol

Themes. Where to get the templates from?

so i kinda started to get into theming and im doing well i think lol but i wanna know how to get templates for the roms i wanna make a theme for i got one for el30 (thanks travmofosho) but i wanna try and theme cm7.2 beta 1 but im not sure if i would have to theme the orginal rom file or is there a certain way to get a template or something less than the full rom that i can just flash over it?
Well the key to theming is proper punctuation and grammar.
So start with that.
And really all you need to do is download a ROM and rip the files out. If you want to theme CM9, download CM9 and extract the appropriate files. Same for EL30.
I remember someone had the files pre-ripped and ready to go back in the day. Maybe you could be the one to pick that back up!
It depends on whether you want it to work with theme changer or not. If not then just pull the framework-res and systemui out of the ROM. But for CM7 if you want it to work with theme changer you will need to rip apart an apk that is set up for it like androidian or cyanogen from the ROM or download one that is close to what you want and mod that. If you google making a theme for cm7 a tutorial pops up in the list.
Sent from my PantechP4100 using xda premium
Lol, well alright, im just used to typing without caring. I'm not trying to get it to work with the theme chooser app. I just want it to be a flashable .zip since it seems that development for cm7 has kind of slowed down so I can use my theme until its updated. So basically all i have to do is delete all the files from the ROM and keep the things that get themed like systemUI.apk, framework-res.apk, and the other things?
And about making templates for other ROMs i would just make them and post them in the themes section..? I need an account to upload files though. I'll have to sign up with something.
XDA allows up to 12 Mb in a zip file which will handle most themes with a couple of system apps. And yup, you are good to. Just yank out the framework and systemui and have at it.

Not to hard you need to install java developer kit... and then the android sdk.. and install the resources for gingerbread or 2.3... once thats done get apk manager or apktool. you use apktool/manager to decompile the res and change the values/colors.xml.. its a little hard to explain to someone who just started youll get there though i did eventually.
You could always throw it into the kitchen and change the background color of the menus or change the text to white.
Sent from my PantechP4100 using xda premium
I think the kitchen would b an easier solution lol or at least just for now
But I'm having one other problem
I used a template provided by travmofosho (I think that's his name srry if I spelled wrong) and the bootanimation says "nashdogg" lol cuz he made that for him and I can't seem to get rid of it I tried applying a boot ani from the kitchen but it doesn't stick over it how could I get that out..?

IM Creating A Custom Rom Which Is Coming SOON!

This past week i have been learning mostly about theming, using apk manager, and using sdk tools and i already have a custom rom that still looks like stock, but has the init.d tweaks, build prop tweaks, its debloated, it has the sony bravia engine and also working mms thru wifi, but im trying to figure out how to add the advanced power menus, the 14 toggles, and xloud into it. Would anyone in here help me? I would really appreciate it and after i get those Mods into my custom rom, next would be the basic theming which is kinda easy but messing with the .9 images and patching it is what looks to be the hardest part from it all because i havent tried messing with that part yet.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
14 toggle mod--> look for the mod on the I727 forum, then add it to your rom. It's that simple.
extended power menus--> same thing, it's a mod somewhere on XDA. Just make sure you get a version that works for the rom you're building
theming-->you are on the right track
Thanks for the advice Alienz

The 14 toggle mod from the I727 will work on GB roms but not on the new ICS roms...
The power menu mod needs to be incorporated into your framework..
Yeah the rom is based on 2.3.6 gingerbread and i have just put the 14 toggles not that long ago and its working perfectly. The advanced power menus i havent found yet ive been searching the forums but cant seem to find it. Today i was doing the theming but those .9patches gives me nothing but problems. I did a few .9 pngs but when i compile it back (systemUI.apk) it doesnt seem to save and gives me errors. I probably seem to know what i did wrong so later on i'll be working on it!

If im missing anything else let me know. What i need to implement is the advance power menus but i still at this point cant find it anywhere. Then whenever i add the power menus mod next would be the theming which im really not good at because im having a lot of trouble on the theming part.

Theme Request - Blue/Green

Hi all,
I have looked all over and tried a few patches here and there and tried modding the file apk's myself but keep ending up with issues so I thought I would ask if there is anyone that would be will to make a blue/green theme or that could help me with issues I am having to do it on my own. Was able to change colors of files and such on my 3D but on the SIII it just keeps causing issues.
What I am trying to do is something like JellyBomb for most things but with highlights of neon green (close to stock green) here and there like in the toggles, few notifications, the spinner (green outside, blue inner). Or something like the Anaconda theme in the works but with blue/green of course.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Was using freegs3 by Clark. I had read something about different systemUI files but I didn't know how to tell which one I was on after searching or how to tell which was loaded with the ROM. I may give a try with another rom tonight if you think that would work or if there is one you would recommend that you have confirmed working with UOT. Thank you again for pointing me to it, I just need to keep learning.
